9:00 – 9:15 As students arrive, a brief lesson on the basic greetings in Shona will be taught to the class.

Students will have a printout of the Zimbabwean flag to color either during quiet time or at home. They
will also have a list of trivia questions covering what was discussed in the lesson. They will take the print
outs of the maps with them as well.
Clean Up

Students help each other pick up any paper or trash and clean up their areas. Everyone working together
to arrange the room and place their flag creations on the bulletin board.
Closing
11:45 – The students are going to work on creating the flag using construction paper, and markers. They will

design simple structures, and complex and simple machines.

Traveling Through Time
Students will learn the history and geography of various places through activities that help them “travel” abroad without leaving
home. Students will make maps, identify landmarks, and learn about the historical significance of specific places, particularly,
migrations and cultures.

Students will learn about natural wonders of the ancient and modern world through the introductory exploration of earth sciences
like geology, climatology, marine biology, oceanography, archeology, and astrology.

Positive Vibrations
Students will explore the connection between music, feeling, and meditation by listening to different genres of music and
responding to what they hear through artistic expression. The relationship between sounds and colors will be explored as students
respond to various instruments and music from diverse cultures.

Students will play indoor and outdoor games, sports, and participate in exercise activities that promote physical movement, fitness,
health, and wellness.

Fables and Folktales from Afar
Students will listen to stories, myths, and poetry from various countries and cultures that have been passed down from generation to
generation as a way of helping them expand their worldview and learn how literary concepts like metaphor, allegory, and symbolism
are expressed in diverse cultures.

Students will be exposed to foreign languages through song, word games, and hands-on activities. The alphabet and numbering
systems in various languages will also be introduced to help students develop multi-lingual reading and speaking skills.
