The plants and animals that are
found in a particular location are
referred to as ecosystem.
They depend on each other to
survive. In a delicate balance, the
lifeforms help to sustain one another
in regular patterns. Disruptions to an
ecosystem can be disastrous to all
organisms within the ecosystem.
13. Three Components of an Eco
System
1)The Marine Component; are the intertidal,
open water, hard and soft bottom habitats.
2)The Coastal Uplands Component; are the
dunes, beaches, coastal hammocks, shell mounds
and barrier islands.
3)The Estuarine Component; are the estuaries,
salt marshes and mangroves.
