[CB19] New threats are already around you, the IPV6 attack must be understood...CODE BLUE
Due to the exhaustion of IPv4 free address space, the use of IPv6 on the Internet is gradually increasing. All Windows operating systems since Windows Vista have IPv6 enabled by default. IPv6 brings a series of improvements compared to IPV4, but these improvements are also put a double-edged sword.
Recently, we have been focusing on "IPv6" attack research and found that in the IPV6 environment, there are many attack points, such as Iptables will fail, use IPV6 to bypass the Web defense strategy and abuse IPV6-specific protocols for man-in-the-middle attacks, and Other attack ideas!
In this speech, I will disclose the attack methods and ideas I have found for IPV6, and will also release tools for IPV6 attacks.
This document summarizes a joint research project between JPRS and several Japanese ISPs to enhance DNS resiliency. The goals were to install DNS servers in multiple regions of Japan to distribute query load and ensure continuity of DNS services during natural disasters. ISPs configured their networks to direct queries to local DNS nodes hosted by JPRS within their networks. Evaluation found queries shifted towards local nodes, response times improved, and Internet services remained available within ISP networks even when other DNS sites were unreachable, demonstrating increased DNS resiliency.
This document discusses running a local copy of the DNS root zone on resolvers to provide additional resiliency against DDoS attacks and decrease query response times. It presents three options: running the root zone on the resolver without DNSSEC validation; running it with DNSSEC validation but requiring the use of views; and running authoritative nameservers off the resolver to serve the root zone, which is the recommended approach. Maintaining a local root copy could improve resilience but also introduces complexity, so careful consideration is required before implementation.

This document discusses the DPDK roadmap. Version 2.1 is scheduled for release at the end of July 2015 and will include features like dynamic memory management, cuckoo hashing, packet framework enhancements, and driver support for additional NICs. Version 2.2 is scheduled for November 2015 and aims to support bifurcated drivers assuming their availability in the Linux kernel. The document also provides information on getting involved with the DPDK community through the dpdk.org website.
The document discusses Intel's Network Builders program, which aims to accelerate software-defined infrastructure adoption through open standards and platforms. It does this by investing in strong ecosystems, committing to open source, and leveraging Intel's technology leadership. The program enables partners through technical resources, matchmaking opportunities, and marketing support. It also works with network operators on proofs of concept and trials. The goal is to move the industry from early SDN/NFV trials to commercial deployments through this ecosystem collaboration.
This document discusses new hardware features including CAT, COD, and Haswell, as well as network platforms. It provides an overview of run-to-completion and pipeline software models for network processing. Run-to-completion allows I/O and application work to be handled on a single core, while pipeline distributes packets to other cores for application work. Lockless queues are used to share data between cores and threads. Rings are the primary mechanism to move data between software units and I/O sources in DPDK.
The document provides information on performance monitoring and analysis tools from Intel, including the Intel VTune Amplifier XE, Intel Performance Counter Monitor (PCM), and guidance on using them. It outlines a process for identifying performance bottlenecks including finding hotspots, determining efficiency, and identifying the underlying architectural issues. Potential issues discussed include cache misses, data access problems, allocation stalls, and branch mispredictions. The document also provides usage examples and resources for further information.

The document provides instructions for running an Intel DPDK hands-on session to demonstrate packet forwarding using the l3fwd example. It describes downloading and compiling DPDK, getting and applying patches to l3fwd, configuring three VMs with pktgen to generate and receive packets and l3fwd to forward between them, and running l3fwd and pktgen manually or automatically on system startup.
The document discusses pipeline architecture and describes:
1. The difference between run-to-completion and pipeline software models, where pipeline models disperse packets to other cores for processing.
2. How the Intel DPDK Packet Framework can be used to rapidly develop packet processing applications using standard pipeline blocks like ports, tables, and a pipeline configuration API.
3. How the DPDK Packet Demonstrators (DPPD) provide sample applications and configurations to analyze performance and find bottlenecks in multi-core packet processing applications.
The document provides an overview of the DPDK libraries and components. It describes DPDK as a set of software libraries designed for high-speed packet processing. It lists some of the key libraries like the Environment Abstraction Layer, memory management, buffer management, queue management, and packet access poll mode drivers. It also briefly describes what each of these libraries are used for in enabling fast packet processing applications.
1. DPDK achieves high throughput packet processing on commodity hardware by reducing kernel overhead through techniques like polling, huge pages, and userspace drivers.
2. In Linux, packet processing involves expensive operations like system calls, interrupts, and data copying between kernel and userspace. DPDK avoids these by doing all packet processing in userspace.
3. DPDK uses techniques like isolating cores for packet I/O threads, lockless ring buffers, and NUMA awareness to further optimize performance. It can achieve throughput of over 14 million packets per second on 10GbE interfaces.
LinuxCon2009: 10Gbit/s Bi-Directional Routing on standard hardware running Linuxbrouer
This talk my 2009 updates on the progress of doing 10Gbit/s routing on standard hardware running Linux. The results are good, BUT to achieve these results, a lot of tuning is required of hardware queues, MSI interrupts and SMP affinity, together with some (now) submitted patches. I\'ll explain the concept of network hardware queues and why interrupt and SMP tuning is essential. I\'ll present results from different hardware both 10GbE netcards and CPUs (current CPUs under test is AMD phenom and Core i7). Many future challenges still exists, especially in the area of more easy tuning. A high knowledge level about the Linux kernel is required to follow all the details.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
