Yellow In Crime And Punishment
The novel Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky is filled with many techniques and images
that give it meaning. The techniques and imagery used by Dostoyevsky help develop a deeper
meaning throughout and assist in analyzing it. One of these techniques is color imagery, specifically
with yellow. The color yellow may seem like an insignificant detail but within this novel it serves a
great literary purpose. It is a technique that is used frequently which suggests that this was done on
purpose and that there is a relation between the different scenarios yellow is used in. By examining the
significance of the color yellow and the characters associated with it, Fyodor Dostoyevsky suggests a
clear separation between the lower class and the upper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first example is a description of the old woman s clothes, a mangy fur cape, yellow with age (5).
Over time clothes will age and can slowly change colors, so when Raskolnikov first sees the old
woman and describes her as wearing yellow clothing, it emphasizes how old Alyona Ivanovna is
because her clothes have turned yellow from wearing them so long. This further emphasizes that she
has put herself into a life of poverty because not only does she live in a deteriorating apartment but she
also wears old clothes. Another example of aging is when Raskolnikov was in the streets and he saw a
man staring at him. Raskolnikov decides to follow him through the streets but eventually loses him
and ends up wandering into a parlor looking for him. The narrator describes Raskolnikov looking
around the parlor and seeing that everything there was as before, the chairs, the looking glass, the
yellow sofa and the pictures in the frames (III, VI). Raskolnikov noticed that nothing had changed
from the last time he was there. All the furniture was the same and the sofa was yellow which suggests
that it was very old and had aged since his last visit. This is significant to the entire novel because
aged items are only described with the lower class and people in poverty don t have the ability to buy
new things, they have to live with what they have. This emphasizes the apparent poverty throughout

Impact Of Napoleon On The French Revolution
From conquering most of Europe in the early 19th century, to crowning himself emperor in 1804,
Napoleon Bonaparte was a very important figure in history. Not only did he do these things, but many
more in his lifetime. For Instance, the making of the Napoleonic Code . Although there were these
great events, Napoleon also witnessed a very significant downfall which eventually led to his death.
Napoleon has definitely had an influence in the French Revolution and on the people during the
French Revolution. Napoleon was born on August 15, 1769 in Ajaccio, which was an island In the

First, in the Summer of 1812, Napoleon led a massive army into Russia. Instead of Russia engaging in
a full battle, whenever the French army attempted to attack, the Russians retreated. While the French
army made it all the way to Moscow, they had just realized that Russian forces had retreated and there
were deprived of supplies. After a month of waiting for a surrender which never came, Napoleon and
the French army had to face the Russian winter in which resulted in the Russian army later harassing
and killing approximately 500,000 troops of the 600,000 who originally came. After the defeat of the
Russian invasion, the French faced the Peninsular War from 1808 1814. Napoleon was also defeated
in this war and retreated. Also, one June 18, which was at the Battle of Waterloo, the French were

Effective Management in Healthcare Organizations Essay...
Effective Management in Healthcare Organizations
The present environments for healthcare organizations contain many forces demanding unprecedented
levels of change. These forces include changing demographics, increased customer outlook, increased
competition, and strengthen governmental pressure. Meeting these challenges will require healthcare
organizations to go through fundamental changes and to continuously inquire about new behavior to
produce future value. Healthcare is an information intensive process. Pressures for management in
information technology are increasing as healthcare organizations feature to lower costs, improve
quality, and increase access to care. Healthcare organizations have developed better and more

The manager must make certain that it take place in a organized way. Market driven healthcare
restructuring has directed to the development of integrated delivery systems through mergers and
changes in systems of imbursement for services. Healthcare organizations are undergoing the most
important reorganizations and modification to meet the increasing demands of improved healthcare
access and quality as well as lowered costs. As the use of information technology to development
medical data increases, much of the critical information required to meet these challenges is being
stored in digital design (Austin Hornberger, 2000). Web enabled information technologies can present
the means for larger access and more useful integration of healthcare information from unlike
computer functions and other information resources (Starkweather Shropshire, 1994). Information
management is the effective, efficient, organization wide planning, directing, and control of
information within an integrated technology system. Managing information technology in a business
today is very different. Managers in healthcare organizations should treat information as a major type
of resource required to do business (Munsch, 2001). Healthcare organizations face increasing
pressures to do more with less, so how well they accomplish objectives is often a process of how they
optimize the limited information technology resources they hold and not the pressure to

The Truth About Being Misunderstood
Corbin watched Patria disappear up the stairs and heard her bedroom door, his bedroom door, close
softly. What he d said was the truth. Her mother had protected her till her death. But maybe Patria was
right as well. By not telling her what they knew they were leaving her vulnerable. She trusted the
Cavicks too much. Maybe if she knew their hands were dirty she wouldn t be so trusting. He would go
talk to her, but it could wait. He still needed more information. He needed to talk to Alexandrov again.
Corbin turned to Pinks. Your vocabulary has become unusual since you woke. Has it? Pinks asked as
he shoveled eggs into his mouth. It has. Why do you think that is? Corbin asked. This wasn t the first
time he d brought this up, but it was becoming more noticeable. Pinks shrugged. Maybe I ve finally
found my intellectual equal and I can freely express myself without fear of being misunderstood, or
having to explain my words. Corbin finished his breakfast quickly and took his plate to the sink. I
need to go. Stay with her, and let me know what she does. You re welcome for breakfast! Pinks yelled
after him. I am not the housekeeper, he muttered, but Corbin still heard him. Corbin hit the garage
door opener, but held on to the Tahoe as he knelt to the ground. His vertigo made him gag a few times
and he thought he was going to toss up the breakfast he didn t thank Pinks for. His vertigo definitely

Research Paper On Latin Dance Fiesta
Latin Dance Fiesta
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, I attended a Latin Dance Fiesta event at the Queens Theatre, the event
featured Sisa Pakari Danza Ecuador, Ballet Folclórico del Salvador, Ballet Folklórico Paraguayo and
Bombazo Dance Company. The show started with Sisa Pakari Danza Ecuador with an Andean song
dedicated to Pacha Mama/Mother Earth, this song is to thank the earth for a good harvest. The dancers
were wearing traditional garments, the women artists had embroidered white blouses (camisas),
shawls (rebozos), black wrap skirts (anakus), gold colored bead necklaces (walkas) and red bead
bracelets (maki watana), with their hair wrapped up in strips of woven cloth (cintas). Male artists were
wearing sport dapper blue ponchos (ruwanas) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This song is well known in el Salvador since it is usually presented at cultural activities. The dancers
wore typical costumes, with the women dressed in white with colorful embroidered shirts and skirts,
and men wore traditional pants and embroidered shirts.
The third dance company to follow onto the stage was Ballet Folklórico Paraguayo. The group,
performed by four female dancers, moved at the rhythms of the Paraguayan polka which combines
ternary and binary rhythms, whereas the European form only uses binary. The announcer informed
that, the most famous style of music in Paraguay is Guarania, created by the Paraguayan musician
José Asunción Flores in 1926. The Guarania accomplishes this by using a combination of slow
rhythms and melodies of melancholia character. The dancers were wearing traditional full pleated
skirts decorated with lace, their blouses were worn off the shoulder and the sleeves were made of lace.
The body of their blouses were embroidered in red, white and blue which are the colors of the
Paraguayan flag, I also noticed that their hair was worn up and their jewelry was of silver and coral
color. In my opinion, this was one of the most impressive group of dancers of the event, because the
performers presented the dance of

American Indian Stories Sparknotes
In her book American Indian Stories, Zitkala Sa s central role as both an activist and writer surfaces,
which uniquely combines autobiography and fiction and represents an attempt to merge cultural
critique with aesthetic form, especially surrounding such fundamental matters as religion. In the
tradition of sentimental, autobiographical fiction, this work addresses keen issues for American
Indians dilemmas with assimilation. In Parts IV and V of quot;School Days, quot; for example, she
vividly describes a little girl s nightmares of paleface devils and delineates her bitterness when her
classmate died with an open Bible on her bed. In this groundbreaking scene, she inverts the allegation
of Indian religion as superstition by labeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While she and her husband denounced the Peyote religion due to their first hand observation of peyote
s destructive often deadly effects, they asserted the superiority of Indian spirituality over the disregard
for nature, disrespect of other cultures, and depredation of people which accompanied alleged
Christian practices such as stripping children from their language, culture, religion, family, and
environment, the blatant injustice and trauma of which the reader poignantly feels in her fiction during
the hair cutting scene and in the mother s desperate cry to her departed warrior brothers.
This collection of stories and the autobiographical account of her school days at White s Manual
Institute in Wabash, Indiana, and later at Earlham College provide insight into the struggle of Indian
peoples in the early twentieth century to protect their heritage while developing a modern Indian
identity.
Zitkala Sa makes the reader feel how shocking and horrifying our comfortable culture was to children

metallic voice quot; of the bell and the quot;annoying clatter of shoes on bare floors. quot; There is

Freedom Of Speech On College Campuses
After reviewing Supreme Court cases relevant to the issue of freedom of speech on public college
campuses it is evident that some guidance has been given, here is what we know when looking at free
speech on public college campuses. First, in Sweezy, there is a recognized right by the Court to
Academic Freedom, especially scholarship and the need for the freedom to inquire, evaluate, and
study (354 U.S. 234). Secondly, in Keyishian, the Court set the standard for Academic freedom as not
allowing ...laws that cast a pall of orthodoxy over the classroom (385 U.S. 603). Keyishian also
recognized that restrictions put forth by the college that administer a potential Chilling Effect, are
deemed unconstitutional. Lastly, in Healy, the Court recognized ... Show more content on

UA s policy is vague because there is no correct answer and they want to be legally sound if their
policy is ever challenged. The Supreme Court cases are vague because there will be times when the
situation calls for an alteration of a previous opinion, such as Tinker in Kuhlmeier. The facts: what
happened, what was spoken, what actions were taken... are the most important aspects of free speech,
because there are only limited and uncertain guidelines to follow. Judging cases as they come along is
the only future for free speech, this is because if there ever is a narrowly defined definition for each
aspect of free speech two things may happen. First, there will be no end to the definition or second,
the definition will be so limiting that within a few years, the definition will not be inclusive enough or
incorporate the speech of an ever developing world. With technology changing, who knows what
speech will be like in the coming years. To have vague standards, with case by case facts and
interpretations will ensure that free speech is duly handled, maybe not always in the way the public
wants, but such is legality. If we take a step back, the questions being asked are often similar, but with
their own individuality. Where academics draw the line for speech will vary, and will often be
challenged. But, maybe the gray areas are what is needed. Interpretation on a

Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics

Chemical Kinetics
Objective:
This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine
the order for each component and the rate constant.
Introduction:
Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the
speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change
during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Δ [X]/Δt, is related to the slope of
the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and
the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate
law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the
negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first
order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt +
1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of
the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the
R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b
equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order
and rate constant.

What Makes A Person Whole And Morally Sound
Virtues are what make a person whole and morally sound, they are the good that can come from
behavior or result from something (Dictionary.com). Romans believed that these were what a mortals
life was based off of. The Aeneid Virgil includes many of the virtues that the Romans value, one being
magnitudo animi. Magnitudo animi translates to greatness of the soul. This greatness of the soul is
what a person has from the inside and makes them deal with the hardest decisions or the easiest. They
persevere and in the end come out great. One person or demi god that represents magnitudo animi is
Aenas from The Aeneid. Aenas deals with his struggles and remembers what it means to have this
virtue and is the best example of this. In The Aeneid it goes through the story of Aeneas and Dido.
Aeneas deals with his journey to find Rome due to his destiny and in the course of this meets Dido,
the Queen of Carthage (Line 15 16 Virgil). Dido is so infatuated when she first sees Aeneas that she
instantly wants to break her vow to her dead husband of never being with another man; I recognize the
signs of the old flame, of old desire. But O chaste life, before I break your laws, I pray that earth may
open, gape for me.... (Line 31 34 Virgil). After Dido prayed to the gods and got their permission. The
gods heard her wish and Juno along with Venus planed the event of the two becoming one; Plan

Loss Of The American Dream In The 19th Century
Many connect the beauty of America with its American dream, which includes feeling financially
secure, having the freedom to live the way one wants, being able to retire at 65, owning a home, and
believing that hard work pays off. The connection between America and the American dream is
strongly related to each other based on the interpretation of the media to the ideals taught in school.
Nowadays, a majority of the American population believes that the American dream is dead. In other
words, many Americans believe that America is dying by straying away from its original beliefs that
the American dream is still achievable for today s living generations. This is true, because both
America and the American dream are dying by transforming and straying away from its traditional
values. The American dream from the 19th century compared to that of the 20th century is very
different from each other, such as the American dream in the 21st century. This is because every new
generation in America creates their own American dream. In the 19th century, the American dream
was shaped by the discovery of gold in California, which led to the dream that many 19th century
Americans believed that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the American dream is transforming in order to fit with today s modern standard or greater
equality among race, gender, and sexuality. Similarly, the laws in America are constantly changing due
to each newer generation becoming more prevalent and influential on how the government runs. As
the older generations begin to die and the newer generations grow up, the more popular opinions
reflect on the greater represented generations of the total American population. Therefore, media
reflects on these growing popular opinions of the newer generations, thus placing more pressure on
politicians to create or change laws in order to appease the majority of the population, or else protests

Effect of Rising Oil Prices on Indian Economy
A rise in global oil prices by $ 10 per barrel would reduce India s economic growth by 0.2 percentage
points and also affect the country s current account deficit, Goldman Sach said.
A VAR (value at risk) analysis suggests that a $ 10 increase in oil would reduce GDP growth by 0.2
percentage point, Goldman Sachs said in its latest edition of Asia Economics Analyst .
India on Monday voiced serious concern over the rising crude oil prices, which have touched a two

In this background, I found it reassuring to come across opinions from two unrelated quarters
questioning the connection.
CONFIDENT ASSERTION
There is first the confident assertion of the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Oil
Corporation (IOC), Mr R. S. Butola, that the impact of higher crude prices need not always be severe,
and can, in fact, be circumvented by means of some ingenious countervailing measures.
The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and upgradation of plants
and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to petrochemicals.
For instance, by using modern processes, IOC has been able to convert many black products into high
value fuel such as LPG and petrol, significantly raising the company s distillate yield from 71.5 per
cent in 2004 05 to 75.4 per cent in 2010 11, and thereby extracting more high value products from
every barrel of crude.

countries.

locked in her room and working on poetries. Upon her death, Dickinson s family discovered nearly
1,800 poems in her room. Notably, Dickinson often brings up death in her poem, such as sorrow, pain,
loneliness, etc. Dickinson obsession with death and after death of an individual, as Amitabh stated in
her literary journals Her immediate interest in the death poems is to dramatise the event of death, to
bring out the tension or conflict that such a particular event will have on the minds of human beings.

In I hear a Fly buzz when I died , there are several ways to interpret death due to it ambiguous
definition in literature. For instance, death can be seen more as a disappointment than something to
look forward to. One might suggest that death can help end all the struggles and stresses one face,
however, that s not the case in Dickinson s poem. As the speaker points out, The Eyes around had
wrung them dry and I willed my Keepsakes Signed away . In this case, the speaker s relatives
surround the speaker s death bed sobbing, and the speaker s belongs were Signed away . Also, it is
often associated that after one s death, he or she will head to the light at the end of the tunnel and be
greeted by an angel. Instead, the speaker Could not see to see , signifying that there are nothing at the
end of the tunnel except for utter darkness. Overall, Dickinson is questioning the validity of whether
death is something to look forward to the existence of afterworld. Another way to depict death from
this poem is its inevitability and loneliness. While reading through the poem, it does not sound very
hopeful, just like someone waiting patiently for his or her death to come. This illustrates that everyone
s fate is death at the end, and it is a long and lonely

Secondary Hypogonadism
There is a condition where the ovaries or testes do not function properly and results in the lowered or
halted production of hormones (MedlinePlus, 2017). This condition is known as hypogonadism or
gonadal deficiency. There are two main types of hypogonadism, central and primary. In women,
primary hypogonadism is the dysfunction of the ovaries whereas central hypogonadism is when the
centers of the brain, responsible for gonadal control, function improperly (The New York Times,
2012). The authors in paper one studied the genetic etiology of patients with disorders of sex
development (DSD) (Kim et al, 2017). DSDs make up a congenital condition where the development
of gonadal, chromosomal and anatomical sex is atypical (Kim et al, 2017). They ... Show more

With that being said, patients who had onset after childhood malignancy had a poor response to the
treatments. The authors explained this could be due to the patients in this undergoing a bone marrow

women with hypogonadism to be dose dependent because the total dose of estrogen was directly
correlated with the final UXA (Kim et al, 2016). The purpose of this experiment was to somehow
allow women with underdeveloped uteruses to obtain the ability to conceive and maintain a
pregnancy. The conclusion of this study was that estrogen replacement therapy was able to induce
uterine maturity in young patients and increased uterine size no matter the etiology of hypogonadism

Ethical Dilemma Paper
The ethical dilemma that I intend to analyze in this paper is, whether the right to free speech and
expression which fall under the broader head of individual rights should be absolute or should there be
censorship over the rights for the overall harmony/good of the society? My task here is to lay out the
ethical theories under which the above stated issue can be evaluated. The three main types of moral
codes are Egoism, Altruism and Cynical Exploitation. This discussion will regard the egoist theory,
altruism theory and cynical exploitation in evaluating the dilemma. The Egoists argue in favour of
absolute individual rights with no room for any compromise. Liberty of speech and expression are an
integral part of the individual rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Americans had no right to impose their principles on them no matter ow good and rational they
were. However, the Iraqis and the Syrians have right to enact their tribal and terrorist beliefs at our
expense, because their beliefs are irrational and evil. In the present crisis, the State department will not
defend free speech which is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution as a right to liberty, because this
principle can be rationally defended and to assert this value would be a selfish act. But the State
Department will suggest us to respectfully refrain from publishing cartoons that offend Muslims.
Radical Islamic totalitarianism is not the only threat to freedom of speech and expression. There are a
lot of other factors too. To fight this threat off, we have to realize that we not only have to fight off
terrorists who endanger this right, but also out own understanding of free speech and expression. We
need to realize that if there is no free speech, we have no hope of a brighter and freer future. We
should be willing to defend it if the need be. Well then, is the right to freedom of speech

Classroom Inclusion In The Classroom
For the majority of educational history, students with disabilities are placed in segregated classrooms
in order to protect them. However, recent controversy details the existence of increased negative
impacts on classroom segregation. The importance of classroom inclusion falls under three main
categories: mutual acceptance and equal treatment of students with disabilities in society, increased
personality development in disabled students, and quicker development of crucial skills (Soponaru,
Camelia, et al. 1). Overall, integrated classrooms appear to be effective, but many regular education
teachers lack the qualifications to properly instruct integrated classrooms. Even though some regular
education teachers are qualified to teach integrated classrooms, regular education teachers with
integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly educated about special needs to ensure an optimal
learning environment for all students.
Regular education teachers with integrated classrooms need to be more thoroughly educated about
special needs to optimize their teaching abilities. Recent advocacy for inclusion classrooms has left
unqualified teachers instructing a range of students; which unfortunately leads to unfavorable learning
environments. According to an interview with Mary Fair, a regular education teacher, it is common for
a regular education teacher to be placed in a classroom without any prior knowledge on properly
instructing children with special needs; the outcome is a

All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque
All Quiet on the Western Front is a short book, but remarkably deep. More than 50 years after its
jolting prose, haunting poetry, and powerful truths slashed their way into the consciousness of a
worldwide readership, All Quiet still stands at the forefront of a host of novels on that most tragic
recurrence in the history of human experience: war. All the aspects of trench warfare are present
excitement, boredom, horror, hunger, fear, dirt, alienation, imminent death, futility, to name a few. All
Quiet has a pervasive sense of uselessness, an initially unvoiced but later fully expressed question of
Just what is this war about, and why am I being put on the line for it? The answer is, of course,
nothing, and if All Quiet has but one overriding message, it is that war is awful, and young people
ought not to fight. All Quiet is not a book which glorifies the German war effort, or portrays soldiers
as heroes. In Remarque s own words, it is an attempt to give an account of a generation that was
destroyed by the war even those of it who survived the shelling. As such, it is brutal and confronting,
but in the best possible way. Anti war fiction has seldom been this effective, or this memorable for that
matter.
All Quiet tells the story of Paul Bäumer, a young man who gets talked into joining the German army
by an idealistic teacher. In short, business like sentences, Paul tells the reader about his experiences in
and around the trenches, plus those of his similarly

Marcus Schulzke South Park Summary
Marcus Schulzke s article South Park and the Transformation of Meaning provides valuable insight to
the power of words. The author provides an analysis of the word faggot from the television episode
The F Word . Schulzke begins the article by speaking about South Park s history jumping from one
controversial socio cultural issue to another. Throughout its history it has remained neutral in any
issue that the television show has discussed. However in regards to homosexuality the tv show has
never sided against it. With any controversial social issue the writers purposely debate both sides of
the argument and proceed to make the limitations on both sides evident. Schulzke goes on to explain
the purpose of the episode, The F Word was to change the significance of the word faggot as a mean to
reduce the negative connotation surrounding it as well as help to make it no longer offensive to ...

It seems like the writers of the episode wanted to make the word fag so common that it would take
away the power behind the word. Others thought it would backfire and popularize the word and
increase the usage. Specifically members of the homosexual community believed that the increase
usage of the word would rub off onto the general public. The episode was more so a misguided
attempt to sympathize with gay rights. The articles goes on to question whether the meaning of a word
is based on the interpretation of the audience, the intent of the word, as it s defined in the dictionary or
a combination of all three. Schulzke believes that it is critical to understand that there are multiple
factors that go into the meaning of a word. He concludes by claiming that the intent of the usage of the
word as well as how the word is interpreted are more important in comparison to the dictionary
definition. Which goes with the saying thats its not what you say however how you say it, that s what

The Midnight Riders
The story of the midnight ride is one of controversy, many wonder who was the one to actually deliver
the message, and which is the most important. All those who journeyed on the midnight ride were
equally important because its story lives in infamy. Charles J. Caes, the author of the article Midnight
Riders, argues that Samuel Prescott is the most important and underrated midnight rider. Caes also
argues that Prescott should receive more credit than the others who joined him on the ride. In actuality,
Prescott is not as brave and heroic as Caes makes him out to be. The things that Samuel Prescott had
accomplished before the midnight ride are not as impressive as Caes makes them out to be. Also, The
fact that Samuel was the one to complete the mission is not as important as the bravery it takes to even
go on the mission. Those that choose their fate are more heroic than those who stumble upon it.
Samuel C. Prescott possesses the same amount of courage as any ordinary man can. Caes chose to
describe Samuel Prescott s retreat from the British as heroic. He used words to create a valiant image,
such as, swashbuckling and daredevil like, in order to pursue his audience (Caes 42). When Charles J.
Caes story is stripped of its frills and opinions, this event is of Prescott fleeing from the British scared
like a gnat in a spider web. Samuel Prescott did not ride, a steed that that flies fearless and fleeting, as
Paul Revere did (Longfellow 76). This quote is more reliable it

Essay about Santa Claus Does Exist
Santa Claus Does Exist
So you don t believe in Santa Claus. It s understandable. We find ourselves in an age of pure
skepticism. We question everything. Science has taken hold of our lives, providing answers for all
questions and dismissing anything that cannot be explained as either myth or fiction. So it s quite
understandable why you don t believe, with no physical proof of his existence. It s indeed
understandable to lose sight of Father Christmas with the transformation of this holiday into one that,
as of late, is used commercially as a lucrative crutch solely to make profit. It s understandable to
abandon Santa Claus after hearing countless people deny his very physical or even spiritual existence.

With the wreaths and Yule logs that come standard with this holiday comes a caring from deep in the
hearts of people unbeknownst to them at any other time of the year. At the sight of the Christmas
decor and the flames roaring at the hearth, a warmth envelops the heart, one with which no flame,
however hot, could compete. We see in our gift wrap and our greeting cards and our holiday stockings
an entirely new persona occupying this world we live in, reprieving us from the daily heartaches we
all know as familiar.
Santa Claus must exist. How else would you describe this change in the way humans interact during
these otherwise dreary winter months? Santa Claus is the catalyst of human goodness, sparking within
us a genuine care for our neighbor, bringing us together for this wonderful season. Think of a world
without Santa Claus!
While your intelligence is gnawing at the lack of proof (the absent shred of red cloth torn by the
fireplace or the nonexistent cookie crumbs leading from the tree up the chimney), I believe even still,
just as millions upon millions believe in some type of god. As you deny Santa Claus on the grounds of
no proof, I accept him on those same grounds. Who are we to deny something we cannot understand
and therefore cannot explain? No amount of persuasion can convince me that Santa Claus does not
exist through people who celebrate Christmas, just as Christians believe Jesus exists through them

`` 13, 1977, 21 By Jonathan Lethem
The essay I am analyzing is entitled simply as 13, 1977, 21 by Jonathan Lethem. It s personal
narrative that is a retelling of the author s childhood and it starts with Lethem confessing that he saw
the original Star Wars movie twenty one times in one summer when he was thirteen years old. Despite
what some readers may think, this essay is not about any kind of obsession he may have with Star
Wars. He tells more about the aspects of his childhood that related to the detail of his almost religious
coming and going to the movie theater, which serves as the sweet lace to the bitter truth of his
childhood. In this essay, Lethem purposefully uses the device of Star Wars to link details of that time
in his life to frame into what maybe the most important time in his life.
Lethem is a Brooklyn, New York native and talks about that summer in 1977 when he take the subway
to Astor Plaza, which is near Times Square, to see Star Wars. As he s confessing that during that
summer he saw the movie twenty one times, it sounds like he s on a stage admitting some sort of sin
to the audience as if they were his priest, and he tries to make it very clear that he is ashamed of it.
This works into the type of audience he s aiming to gain. This essay is sort of a trap. Within the first
sentence of the essay, In the summer of 1977 I saw Star Wars the original, which is all I want to
discuss here twenty one times. (245), he uses the popular subject of Star Wars to reel any wandering
reader. The

Without Craftsmanship, inspiration is a mere reed shaken in the wind. Johannes Brahms was an
extraordinarily talented composer of his time, and, as said in one of his famous quotes, he truly crafted
each piece of music he wrote with much care and delicacy. Ever since the early age of six years old,
Brahms was infatuated with playing the piano, composing music, as well as conducting choral groups
as well as symphonies throughout the entirety of his life. He was tremendously popular amongst
friends, fellow composers, and other notable people of his time. His fame not only stood in the
barriers of his lifetime, but also stood the test of time. His works are often compared to the likes of

method of writing melodies onto paper. His father, Jakob Brahms taught him to play both piano and

India s Caste System Of India
India s Caste System
The Caste system has aroused much controversy than any other feature of India s society. Every day,
Dalits are butchered, assaulted, abused, raped, lynched, shot or openly mutilated without considering
any consequences of the offenders. The deaths of pregnant women who are not able to pay the bribes
at government hospitals, some boys with eyes raised completely out for falling in love with a girl of a
superior caste, and horrid stories of employees boiled to death because of spewing out arguments with
the boss are continuously reported in mainstream newspapers. After years of democracy, the social
structure stands to practice the caste system disregarding abolishment laws. Every international or
national effort to abolish caste differentiation and segregation has been proven ineffective. The caste
system of India is a deeply inculcated social problem requiring immense commitment domestically
and internationally in understanding what has stopped the measures to get rid of this ancient system
and what measures are needed to complete elimination of the system. Over a million people continue
to suffer discrimination, degrading treatment, and violence because of caste association. The caste
system is based on structural inequalities between high and low cast untouchables involving social
isolation and exclusion from participation in social, political, and economic developments of
society.Dr. Susan Bayly, an expert in the field, defines caste as not the

The techniques and imagery used by Dostoyevsky help develop a deeper meaning throughout and assist in analyzing it. One of these techniques is color imagery, specifically with yellow. The color yellow may seem like an insignificant detail but within this novel it serves a great literary purpose. It is a technique that is used frequently which suggests that this was done on purpose and that there is a relation between the different scenarios yellow is used in. Over time clothes will age and can slowly change colors, so when Raskolnikov first sees the old woman and describes her as wearing yellow clothing, it emphasizes how old Alyona Ivanovna is because her clothes have turned yellow from wearing them so long. This further emphasizes that she has put herself into a life of poverty because not only does she live in a deteriorating apartment but she also wears old clothes. Another example of aging is when Raskolnikov was in the streets and he saw a man staring at him. Raskolnikov decides to follow him through the streets but eventually loses him and ends up wandering into a parlor looking for him. The narrator describes Raskolnikov looking around the parlor and seeing that everything there was as before, the chairs, the looking glass, the yellow sofa and the pictures in the frames (III, VI). Raskolnikov noticed that nothing had changed from the last time he was there. All the furniture was the same and the sofa was yellow which suggests that it was very old and had aged since his last visit. This is significant to the entire novel because aged items are only described with the lower class and people in poverty don t have the ability to buy new things, they have to live with what they have. This emphasizes the apparent poverty throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Chemical Reaction On Chemical Kinetics Olivia Isaacs C127 15 November 2014 Chemical Kinetics Objective: This experiment runs many reactions varying the concentrations of the reactants in order to determine the order for each component and the rate constant. Introduction: Chemical kinetics is the study of how fast a chemical reaction occurs and the factors that affect the speed of reaction.1 Reaction rates are the measure of how much the concentration of reactants change during a given reaction.1 The rate of change of the reactants, Rate = Δ [X]/Δt, is related to the slope of the concentration vs. time graph.1 From observing reaction rates, the overall order of the reaction and the rate constant can be calculated by using the integrated rate laws. For a zero order reaction, the rate law can be written as [A]t = kt + [A]0, where [A]t is the concentration at a given time, k is the negative slope, t is the time, and [A]0 is the initial concentration.2 Using the same variables, a first order reaction can be written as ln[A]t = kt + ln[A]0 and a second order can be written as 1/[A]t = kt + 1/[A]0.2 On a graph, these concentrations are plotted vs. time, allowing the R2 value and equation of the line to be calculated. The R2 value is used in determining the order of the reaction. The closer the R2 value is to 1, the more likely that the graph displays the correct reaction order. The y=mx+b equation provides information about the slope and y intercept, essential when determining the order and rate constant. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and upgradation of plants and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to petrochemicals. All the aspects of trench warfare are present excitement, boredom, horror, hunger, fear, dirt, alienation, imminent death, futility, to name a few. All Quiet has a pervasive sense of uselessness, an initially unvoiced but later fully expressed question of Just what is this war about, and why am I being put on the line for it? The answer is, of course, nothing, and if All Quiet has but one overriding message, it is that war is awful, and young people ought not to fight. All Quiet is not a book which glorifies the German war effort, or portrays soldiers as heroes. In Remarque s own words, it is an attempt to give an account of a generation that was destroyed by the war even those of it who survived the shelling. Caes story is stripped of its frills and opinions, this event is of Prescott fleeing from the British scared like a gnat in a spider web. • 32. Essay about Santa Claus Does Exist Santa Claus Does Exist So you don t believe in Santa Claus. It s understandable. We find ourselves in an age of pure skepticism. We question everything. Science has taken hold of our lives, providing answers for all questions and dismissing anything that cannot be explained as either myth or fiction. So it s quite understandable why you don t believe, with no physical proof of his existence. It s indeed understandable to lose sight of Father Christmas with the transformation of this holiday into one that, as of late, is used commercially as a lucrative crutch solely to make profit. It s understandable to abandon Santa Claus after hearing countless people deny his very physical or even spiritual existence. After all, one tends to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the wreaths and Yule logs that come standard with this holiday comes a caring from deep in the hearts of people unbeknownst to them at any other time of the year. At the sight of the Christmas decor and the flames roaring at the hearth, a warmth envelops the heart, one with which no flame, however hot, could compete. We see in our gift wrap and our greeting cards and our holiday stockings an entirely new persona occupying this world we live in, reprieving us from the daily heartaches we all know as familiar. Santa Claus must exist. How else would you describe this change in the way humans interact during these otherwise dreary winter months? Santa Claus is the catalyst of human goodness, sparking within us a genuine care for our neighbor, bringing us together for this wonderful season. Think of a world without Santa Claus! While your intelligence is gnawing at the lack of proof (the absent shred of red cloth torn by the fireplace or the nonexistent cookie crumbs leading from the tree up the chimney), I believe even still, just as millions upon millions believe in some type of god. As you deny Santa Claus on the grounds of no proof, I accept him on those same grounds. Who are we to deny something we cannot understand and therefore cannot explain? No amount of persuasion can convince me that Santa Claus does not exist through people who celebrate Christmas, just as Christians believe Jesus exists through them today, ... • 33. `` 13, 1977, 21 By Jonathan Lethem The essay I am analyzing is entitled simply as 13, 1977, 21 by Jonathan Lethem. It s personal narrative that is a retelling of the author s childhood and it starts with Lethem confessing that he saw the original Star Wars movie twenty one times in one summer when he was thirteen years old. Despite what some readers may think, this essay is not about any kind of obsession he may have with Star Wars. He tells more about the aspects of his childhood that related to the detail of his almost religious coming and going to the movie theater, which serves as the sweet lace to the bitter truth of his childhood. In this essay, Lethem purposefully uses the device of Star Wars to link details of that time in his life to frame into what maybe the most important time in his life. Lethem is a Brooklyn, New York native and talks about that summer in 1977 when he take the subway to Astor Plaza, which is near Times Square, to see Star Wars. As he s confessing that during that summer he saw the movie twenty one times, it sounds like he s on a stage admitting some sort of sin to the audience as if they were his priest, and he tries to make it very clear that he is ashamed of it. This works into the type of audience he s aiming to gain. This essay is sort of a trap. Within the first sentence of the essay, In the summer of 1977 I saw Star Wars the original, which is all I want to discuss here twenty one times. (245), he uses the popular subject of Star Wars to reel any wandering reader. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Johannes Brahms was an extraordinarily talented composer of his time, and, as said in one of his famous quotes, he truly crafted each piece of music he wrote with much care and delicacy. Ever since the early age of six years old, Brahms was infatuated with playing the piano, composing music, as well as conducting choral groups as well as symphonies throughout the entirety of his life. He was tremendously popular amongst friends, fellow composers, and other notable people of his time. His fame not only stood in the barriers of his lifetime, but also stood the test of time. In order to help support his family, Brahms appeared in many musical performances at the tender age of 10 under the teaching of the late Eduard Marxsen, a German musical instructor. • 40. India s Caste System Of India India s Caste System The Caste system has aroused much controversy than any other feature of India s society. Every day, Dalits are butchered, assaulted, abused, raped, lynched, shot or openly mutilated without considering any consequences of the offenders. The deaths of pregnant women who are not able to pay the bribes at government hospitals, some boys with eyes raised completely out for falling in love with a girl of a superior caste, and horrid stories of employees boiled to death because of spewing out arguments with the boss are continuously reported in mainstream newspapers. After years of democracy, the social structure stands to practice the caste system disregarding abolishment laws. Every international or national effort to abolish caste differentiation and segregation has been proven ineffective. The caste system of India is a deeply inculcated social problem requiring immense commitment domestically and internationally in understanding what has stopped the measures to get rid of this ancient system and what measures are needed to complete elimination of the system. Over a million people continue to suffer discrimination, degrading treatment, and violence because of caste association. The caste system is based on structural inequalities between high and low cast untouchables involving social isolation and exclusion from participation in social, political, and economic developments of society.Dr. Susan Bayly, an expert in the field, defines caste as not the ...
