The document describes a new smart control and supervisory unit (CSU) system for telecom power systems. The new CSU features include a 128x64 LCD display, RS-485 communication, web server and SNMP capabilities for remote monitoring and control. It can monitor inputs such as AC voltage, DC voltage, currents, temperatures and detect alarms. The CSU can control and monitor up to 4 rectifier shelves with configurable parameters. It also supports battery charge control, temperature compensation, and discharge testing for battery maintenance.

Tại sao sử dụng công nghệ HFC
Mạng cable TV truyền thống sử dụng cáp đồng trục, từ trung tâm nối đến các thuê bao. Nhược điểm của một mạng cáp đồng trục là cần nhiều máy khuyếch đại trên đường truyền: cứ khoảng 1km lại cần một máy khuyếch đại. Vì thế nếu một thuê bao ở xa trung tâm khoảng 30km thì cần khoảng 30 máy khuyếch đại trên đường truyền.
Việc cần sử dụng nhiều máy khuyếch đại dẫn đến các vấn đề sau:
- Vấn đề lỗi mạng: nếu một máy khuyếch đại ở gần trung tâm bị sự cố thì tất cả các thuê bao dưới nó đều bị ảnh hưởng.
- Chất lượng đường truyền bị ảnh hưởng: sau mỗi lần được khuyếch đại, tín hiệu đều bị nhiễu, méo. Vì thế với các thuê bao ở xa, chất lượng đường truyền sẽ bị ảnh hưởng.
Mạng HFC khắc phục nhược điểm trên bằng cách nối cáp quang từ trung tâm đến một loạt điểm phân phối quang. Tại các điểm phân phối này, tín hiệu quang sẽ được chuyển thành tín hiệu điện và cáp đồng trục sẽ được sử dụng để kết nối đến các thuê bao. Các ưu điểm của HFC là:
- Tăng công suất và chất lượng dịch vụ.
- Hạn chế các sự cố gần trung tâm.
- Chia một mạng đồng trục lớn thành các mạng đồng trục nhỏ, mỗi mạng xuất phát từ một điểm phần phối quang. Các mạng nhỏ này hoạt động tương đối độc lập với nhau, do đó tránh được sự cố toàn hệ thống.
Về truyền hình cáp hữu tuyến, công nghệ sử dụng hiện này tại Việt Nam là công nghệ HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coaxial Cable) - công nghệ lai ghép giữa cáp quang và cáp đồng trục.
Mạng truyền hình cáp CATV truyền thống trước đây chỉ sử dụng các thiết bị điện và cáp đồng trục cũng như các bộ khuyếch đại. Chính vì vậy mà chất lượng tín hiệu cũng như bán kính phục vụ là thấp, không đáp ứng được nhu cầu người xem cả về chất lượng hình ảnh, cùng các dịch vụ.
Ngày nay, các mạng truyền hình cáp sử dụng công nghệ HFC, với phần truyền dẫn sử dụng cáp quang. Ưu điểm của công nghệ này là sử dụng băng thông gần như vô tận của cáp quang cũng như mức độ suy hao thấp để khắc phục những nhược điểm của mạng CATV truyền thống. Mạng HFC-CATV có khả năng cung cấp một loạt các dịch vụ như VOD, VoIP và đặc biệt là Internet.
Internet qua mạng cáp là một công nghệ băng rộng vô cùng hấp dẫn, tốc độ truy cập đường xuống cực cao cỡ hàng chục Mb/s trên cơ sở các thiết bị mạng 2 chiều và tuân theo giao thức Euro DOCSIS và DOCSIS.
