This presentation summarizes a study on the seroprevalence and efficacy of commercial vaccines against Newcastle disease in layer birds. The study tested blood samples from layer farms to determine the seroprevalence of Newcastle disease. The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is
a lateral flow immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection and differentiation
of IgM and IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in human venous whole blood, plasma
from anticoagulated blood (Li+ heparin, K2EDTA and sodium citrate), or
serum. The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma)
is intended for use as an aid in identifying individuals with an adaptive immune
response to SARS-CoV-2, indicating recent or prior infection. At this time, it is
unknown for how long antibodies persist following infection and if the presence of
antibodies confers protective immunity. The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test
Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) should not be used to diagnose acute
SARS-CoV-2 infection. Testing is limited to laboratories certified under the Clinical
Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), 42 U.S.C 263a, to perform
moderate or high complexity tests.
Results are for the detection of SARS CoV-2 antibodies. IgM and IgG antibodies to
SARS-CoV-2 are generally detectable in blood several days after initial infection,
although the duration of time antibodies are present post-infection is not well
characterized. Individuals may have detectable virus present for several weeks
following seroconversion.
Laboratories within the United States and its territories are required to report all
positive results to the appropriate public health authorities.
The sensitivity of COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole
Blood/Serum/Plasma) early after infection in unknown. Negative results do not
preclude acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. If acute infection is suspected, direct testing
for SARS-CoV-2 is necessary.
False positive results for COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole
Blood/Serum/Plasma) may occur due to cross-reactivity from pre-existing
antibodies or other possible causes. Due to the risk of false positive results,
confirmation of positive results should be considered using second, different IgG or
IgM assay.

This study aimed to detect Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) strains in chicken flocks in Egypt with respiratory disease. RFLP analysis identified genetic similarity between some field isolates and the F vaccine strain. A field study was conducted in France to compare the laying performance of commercial brown layers vaccinated with Vaxxitek HVT+IBD versus controls vaccinated with a live intermediate IBD vaccine. Over 250 birds per group were reared on a pullet and layer farm and housed in enriched cages. Results showed that the Vaxxitek group had a 3.88 egg/hen higher laying rate and higher average egg weight than the controls. Growth was also improved in the Vaxxitek group as they had a higher body weight at 5 weeks of age. In conclusion, Vaxxitek vaccination benefits included higher pullet weight at point of lay, improved laying performance and egg quality.

This presentation summarizes a study on the seroprevalence and efficacy of commercial vaccines against Newcastle disease in layer birds. The study tested blood samples from layer farms to determine the seroprevalence of Newcastle disease. It then evaluated the immune response in grower and layer birds vaccinated with different commercial vaccines. The results showed the prevalence of Newcastle disease in the tested farms. It also found that all the commercial vaccines tested induced protective antibody levels against Newcastle disease by day 7 and 14 post vaccination. Cevac New L vaccine using the LaSota strain may be an effective choice for layer farms, though other vaccines could also be used.

The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is
a lateral flow immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection and differentiation
of IgM and IgG antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 in human venous whole blood, plasma
from anticoagulated blood (Li+ heparin, K2EDTA and sodium citrate), or
serum. The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma)
is intended for use as an aid in identifying individuals with an adaptive immune
response to SARS-CoV-2, indicating recent or prior infection. At this time, it is
unknown for how long antibodies persist following infection and if the presence of
antibodies confers protective immunity. The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test
Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) should not be used to diagnose acute
SARS-CoV-2 infection. Testing is limited to laboratories certified under the Clinical
Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), 42 U.S.C 263a, to perform
moderate or high complexity tests.
Results are for the detection of SARS CoV-2 antibodies. IgM and IgG antibodies to
SARS-CoV-2 are generally detectable in blood several days after initial infection,
although the duration of time antibodies are present post-infection is not well
characterized. Individuals may have detectable virus present for several weeks
following seroconversion.
Laboratories within the United States and its territories are required to report all
positive results to the appropriate public health authorities.
The sensitivity of COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole
Blood/Serum/Plasma) early after infection in unknown. Negative results do not
preclude acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. If acute infection is suspected, direct testing
for SARS-CoV-2 is necessary.
False positive results for COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole
Blood/Serum/Plasma) may occur due to cross-reactivity from pre-existing
antibodies or other possible causes. Due to the risk of false positive results,
confirmation of positive results should be considered using second, different IgG or
IgM assay.
The COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is only
for use under the Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization.

In vitro, AdaPAscAb expressed and secreted the anti-PA antibody, which specifically bound PA. Mice administered AdaPAscAb produced the antibody in their serum for up to 14 days. Mice treated with AdaPAscAb were fully protected from lethal anthrax toxin challenge 72 hours later, whereas control mice were not protected. While effective, the antibody's half-life was too short for human use; further engineering is needed to extend its circulation time.

This study aimed to detect Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG) strains in chicken flocks in Egypt with respiratory disease. Nasal swabs from 49 flocks were tested by semi-nested PCR and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) of the pvpA gene. MG was detected in 37 flocks (75.5% incidence). RFLP analysis identified genetic similarity between some field isolates and the F vaccine strain. Experimental infection of chickens found that field isolates and the F strain were transmitted between infected and contact birds based on PCR testing, with some contact birds developing antibodies. This highlights the need for improved diagnostics and control of MG variant strains.

A field study was conducted in France to compare the laying performance of commercial brown layers vaccinated with Vaxxitek HVT+IBD versus controls vaccinated with a live intermediate IBD vaccine. Over 250 birds per group were reared on a pullet and layer farm and housed in enriched cages. Results showed that the Vaxxitek group had a 3.88 egg/hen higher laying rate and higher average egg weight than the controls. Growth was also improved in the Vaxxitek group as they had a higher body weight at 5 weeks of age. In conclusion, Vaxxitek vaccination benefits included higher pullet weight at point of lay, improved laying performance and egg quality.

In 2010, they started vaccinating flocks with Vaxxitek HVT+IBD which improved overall bird health, achieved good uniform body weights, and allowed removal of the 4 on-farm live IBD vaccinations. Data from 2012 showed improved bodyweights, uniformity and laying performance since adopting the Vaxxitek vaccination.

Circovac® is registered for use in several Asian countries and has been shown in trials to significantly reduce mortality and PCVD-specific mortality, improve growth rates, reduce time to slaughter, and decrease viral shedding compared to non-vaccinated pigs. The results demonstrate Circovac® is effective at controlling PCV2 infections across the whole herd through sow or piglet vaccination.

This field study compared the effects of Vaxxitek HVT+IBD vaccine versus an intermediate IBD vaccine on broiler production performance and meat quality in Eastern Spain. The study involved 24 farms randomly divided into two groups, with 12 farms vaccinating birds with Vaxxitek and 12 farms vaccinating with the intermediate vaccine. Results showed that birds vaccinated with Vaxxitek had significantly higher average daily gain, lower feed conversion ratio, lower mortality rates, and lower early production losses compared to birds vaccinated with the intermediate vaccine. Vaxxitek also provided a slight improvement in breast muscle color quality.
VAXXITEK HVT + IBD - Field Study - Egypt - Merial
