An Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) training package was implemented in a child psychiatric clinic and parent groups to empower staff and parents in working with children with autism. The training involved a 2-day ABA workshop for staff with live and video feedback over 3 months, and an 8-session ABA parent group with 2 individual sessions and video feedback. Preliminary results found increased social skills and decreased problem behaviors in children, and staff and parents reported finding the techniques useful though parents also experienced more stress during training. Ongoing evaluation is being conducted to further analyze the effectiveness of the ABA training package.
