Initial Plans

Initial Reaction
• Magazine genre: movie magazine
• Genre of film: Horror or spy, as their the genres that I do for the posters
that I make, so I think I’ll be better at that.
• If I’m doing horror I think it will be quite difficult as it going to be a
magazine and when it comes horror I focus on minimalism.
• However if it’s a spy magazine it can have a key focus of up to two-four
characters, which can be done very cleverly through fading out images and
changing the saturation of images.
• I want the title of the magazine to be something different and to stand out
to the normal generic movie magazine that just tells you information
about the films. So I want to give something else in the magazine that is
another reason as to why people watch films.
• Especially people who are really interested in movies and spend time
analysing the films.

Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• The most repetitive part of these magazines are the black and white images used for them to convey the
professional style and photography. The main focus of colours though overall is black and white with often
being associated with suits or tuxedo that men are seen to wear.
• Another repetitive part of these type of magazines is its focus on minimalism with it focusing on
shadowing or specific objects that have relevance to the plot of the film.
• Whilst the main focus is The King’s Man. This is also a movie magazine and will the be the key image but
their will also be other movies that are referenced on the magazine. So I looked at different colouring for
them to but only brief and they also retain the same minimalism that the kings man film does.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• My mood board has helped influence my final product through the colouring and the even the
posture/positioning of the actors that are on the magazine. The main influence to focus on is that there is
a lot of sophistication and elegance being presented in many aspects such as dress wear, life choices,
locations etc.
• It has also influenced me into thinking about how the props in the film can be silhouetted into something
else that interesting in the magazine, like a different article for a different movie.
• The final influence that my mood board has added to my final product is positioning of text can be
translated to look like something else through design terms. Through researching other magazines that
are similar. I decided to put some into my mood board, as their focus is that ordering the text at the front
is important, even with headlines.
