Redemption In Crime And Punishment Analysis
Suffering as the Road to Redemption in Crime and Punishment Without suffering,
there is no hope of achieving redemption. This idea is straightforward; no one
consistently achieves what they want, in this case redemption, without struggling
in some shape or form in order to get it. In Crime and Punishment, A Russian man
known as Raskolnikov murders an old pawnbroker and her younger sister. The
work progresses to show that the motivation behind the murder is, among other
things, to test a theory that Raskolnikov has about what kind of man he is. After an
extensive series of subplots and nearly insane moral arguments with himself and
those around him, Raskolnikov confesses and finds religion and redemption in a
Siberian labor prison. Utilizing the world around him and his own life events
throughout the piece, Dostoyevsky fills Crime and Punishment with the
juxtaposition of characters, irony, and allusions in order to present the importance
of suffering and hard labor as the only means to redemption. Dostoyevsky s own
life events as well as the culture of intellectuals in St. Petersburg at the time were
all of incredibly great influence on the novel. Dostoyevsky grows up a radical
intellectual in St. Petersburg, keeping in touch with prevalent moral ideologies, as
his protagonist Raskolnikov does. He joins an illegal group known as the
Petrashevsky Circle, for which he is eventually arrested and placed in front of a
firing squad. At the last moment before they are shot, a

United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing. Since her speech,
women have made progress in gaining rights. Clinton uses her speech in Beijing to
advance her career and to make herself known as an individual instead of just the
First Lady. Clinton s political career was started by this speech; she continues to
center her career around this speech and it was the basis of her presidential campaign.

raised his popularity and later allowed him to run for President of the United
States. Hillary Clinton worked at the RoseLaw Firm until 1992, which is when
she and Bill Clinton moved into the White House. When Bill Clinton became
president, Hillary Clinton got an office in the West Wing of the White House
instead of the East Wing, where all the other First Ladies had theirs. This made her
closer to the President s office, which was important because she was much more
involved in the President s work than most First Ladies were. She worked in the

was to establish healthcare for everyone, which was a plan that eventually failed. She

Dance Moms
Every single athlete on a team has a reason they chose that sport. Each individual
athlete picks his or her specific sport depending on interest, enjoyment, or athletic
performance; however, a majority of athletes in sports choose their sport from
parental influence. Through elementary and middle school, children are usually
involved in more than one sport. Once the children reach high school, they usually
choose one sport to pursue and put the most effort into. This decision is usually
swayed by what the parents would like to see their childdoing. The relationship
between parents and the sports their children play has been seen in movies and
shows for ages. For instance, the television show Dance Moms is a show that has
daughters on a competition... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some sports are filled with aggression. This can be from the way the sport is
played, teams losing, players getting injured, fights between players, and/or wrong
calls from officials throughout the game. Everybody has heard the references to
soccer moms or little league parents misbehaving at games or showing rage;
however, many believe the reason is because no one told them they couldn t
behave that way (Heinzmann). These parents are negative role models when they
show aggression and rage over their child s game. At games, people have been
injured physically and emotionally due to high aggressive behaviors. How can
people fix these behaviors in the sport environment? Social workers and level
headed people can teach parents their actual role in their child s sports career. This
role should be positive and motivational support rather than negative (Heinzmann).
Parents are passionate for their child s sports and performance, and they will do
anything to make sure their child is not discredited or pushed to the back. Parents
feel a natural obligation to fight for what they feel their child deserves, and that is
where aggression can come in to play at
My Thoughts On The Classroom
Honestly, when I walked into the classroom on the first day, I didn t know what to
expect. I had signed up for the course just as a way to get credit for an IDS
requirement, and did not think too much about this class at first. My thoughts
were racing as the idea of a circled classroom seemed kind of strange to me.
However, after that first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy the class. We talked
about each other before we did anything else. We formally introduced ourselves and
expressed our feelings and beliefs to one another, and showed every person in that
room that we all have our differences, but, we can still share this experience
together. This was different than any other class that I had previously taken, last
semester, or in high school. There was so much to this class that I could use in
everyday life than probably any other class previously taken. We were taught lessons
that had helped change our lives for the better. We were also introduced to such
inspirational characters, whether it be Julia Butterfly Hill, Henry David Thoreau, or
even some people we never got the names. The videos that were shown to us were
also very inspiring, and they definitely made me think of what we are doing as a
nation, or better yet, as a species of animal living on this planet. There was so much
that I have learned, that I cannot simply forget in a day s notice, unlike most other
classes this semester. The knowledge that I have gathered is truly a gift, that I will be
thankful for
A Short Note On The E Commerce Market
1. Critically analyze the factors that led to Alibaba sustaining its leadership position
in the Chinese e commerce market. During the late 1990 s and early 2000 s, the
internet was not very popular in China and people were ignorant to its proper use.
Knowing this, Jack Ma decided to start this internet user friendly company that would
allow his clients to perform business transactions with other businesses/suppliers in
China. He first started the company on a local level and as Alibaba has seen success
it has been expanding to the global market. Some of the factors that contributed to the
success of Alibaba in the Chinese e commerce industry were:
First mover advantage: Alibaba has a first mover advantage that makes it very hard
for competitors to chip away at their lead in the market. (Dick Wei, Analyst, J.P.
Morgan Securities Inc.,2 in 2007). Alibaba started its operations when e commerce in
China was in its infancy stage. Considering the potential of the budding e commerce
market, Alibaba started with operations that concentrated on providing B2B services
to SMEs that were aspiring to go global.
Smart competitive and marketing strategies: From an early stage, Alibaba had been
focusing on differentiating itself by providing better services to its customer. It put an
innovative business model in place where customers could try out its services without
any cost. Over time, it was able to generate revenue from alternative streams and
increase revenue as
My Writing Skills Analysis
My Writing Skills There is no perfect person on this earth; therefore every single
human being has flaws. In this essay you will learn about my flaws or weaknesses
and strengths of writing. Although everyone has flaws they also have the
willingness to improve themselves. With that being said, I believe the best way to
address your flaws are to debate on ways you could possibly improve in the weaker
areas. The following paragraphs will introduce you to not only my weaknesses and
my strengths but also the way in which I would like to become more proficient in my
writing. In searching for my weaknesses and strengths I found that the easiest to
identify were my weaknesses. I also realized that I could identify more things I
struggled with rather than excelling at. The biggest weakness I believe that I have
is creating a closing sentence for my paragraphs. When I do create a closing
sentence, they tend to be very boring. Another weakness I believe I have is my
sentence grammar, such as misplacing modifiers, apostrophe usage and the lack of
subject verb agreement. My weaknesses may seem minimal but they hold massive
power in creating an essayand even in everyday life!... Show more content on

Essay On Building A New Home
Building a New Home? 10 Can t Live Without Features In today s home building
market, the design choices you make as a homeowner should fit your household s
lifestyle and locale. Increasingly, those choices are becoming environmentally
friendly, which is a good thing for our planet and wallets. Regardless of whether
you re considering building a new Florida home, or are about to begin the process,
lend us your attention. We ve compiled a cheat sheet of some of the top features we

That s cool. We get it. But, you d still like to be as energy efficient as possible. The
answer is a water re circulator. This system heats the water already idling in your
plumbing. pipes You get near instant hot water, which is far more efficient than
waiting on hot water to arrive at the kitchen faucet from the conventional water
heater all while standing at the sink as cold water runs wastefully down the drain.
Serious Insulation If you re new to Florida from a colder climate, you know how
important insulation can be to a home s comfort, particularly in winter. That s true
even in the Sunshine State. Here, you ll spend far more time in air conditioning.
But proper insulation also buttresses your house from summer heat. And yes,
depending where you live in Florida, you ll experience occasional cool snaps. So
focus on maintaining consistent interior comfort year around. The best way to do
that is to be sure your new Florida home boasts the maximum amount of good
quality insulation all over the house. You ll see fewer spikes in your power bill, and
make fewer tweaks to your thermostat. Whole House Vacuuming It s the best thing
since sliced bread! We re only half kidding. This is for those of you who despise
lugging upright vacuum cleaners, or heavy canister cleaners all over the house. A
whole house vacuuming system simplifies an onerous chore.
Heracles As A Religious Figure In Greek Culture
Throughout history Western art has been used to illustrate the divine and
supremacy status of both political and religious figures. Incorporated in these
pieces relates to the specific cultures political, religious, and cultural values. This is
one way how certain art pieces can be identified. This began as early as the
Sumerian period and even today is still used. Although these methods have been used
for thousands of years, different styles emerged when looking at different periods but
this does not go to say that cultures never have not adopted certain styles and
methods from others. When looking at the Egyptian Old Kingdom, Greek classical,
and Imperial Roman periods much evidence of this occurring could be given. While

One of the most beloved hero gods is Herakles, or Heracles as the romans and
current culture pronounces it. According to greek mythology Heracles is the son
of Zeus and the greek woman Alcmene, this makes Hercules a half god. He was the
result of Zeus affair which ironically earns him the hatred of Hera Zeus wife . She
attempted to murder him as a child by sending two serpents into his crib, but he
was so strong that he strangled both; one in each hand. Hera goes on to hate
Heracles as grows older. In the black vase painting Herakles and Cerberus, it shows
Heracles last labor being complete. Hercules final labor was to kidnap Cerberus,
the guardian of the underworld and bring him to king Eurystheus. He was given
this task because returning from the underworld was impossible, so for Heracles
to return with Cerberus shows how powerful he was. This vase was painted during
the Archaic Period in 530 525 B.C. as greek because of its qualities. The Greeks
liked symmetry and the decorations on this vase follow the shape and so does the
two figures; when looking closely they both are slightly leaned forward following
the curvature of the vase. There is also a hierarchical scale, Heracles is larger than
the king signifying he is more important and powerful. Unlike Rameses in egypt,
the Greeks saw their gods as above the people. Something the Egyptians and
Greeks did have in common is how they gave their religious and political divine
figures muscular bodies. Both cultures did this because big muscles are associated
with great power. It was and still is the ideal of a perfected body. Also in this black
figure painting the chest are facing forward toward the viewer just like in the
egyptian wall paintings. Although Greeks created many of their own methods of
doing things, they still adopted ways from the Greeks and ancient

There are also many trees used for medicine too. For example one of the trees such as
the Annatto tree has an oil extract of the tree. The Annatto tree contains carotenoids
bixin, used for protection against UV rays. It also helps to lower blood pressure
and is a powerful bug repellent. The Cocoa tree is one of the few that is very high

Dharma Bums Analysis
This week we started the reading of the Dharma Bums, which is related to Zen
Buddhism. In addition, we also get in touch with some Zen stories. Zen stories are
usually very short and easy to read, using just couple of sentences to tell people the
main thoughts of Zen. When first read them, I found some of them are interesting
and easy to understand, at least part of the meaning, while some of them are
confusing. MUDDY ROAD is one of the several Zen stories we read in class. This
story talks about the two monks, Tanzan and Ekido. When they met a lovely girl who
was unable to cross the stream. Tanzan took the girl in his arms and helped the girl
across the stream. Ekido did not say anything at that moment, but when they reached
a temple at
The Condemnation of Marcus Brutus

politics and highlights the failures of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
(TRC) in its attempts to heal the wounds of South Africaand bring justice in the
transition from Apartheid. In Act Five: Scene One we see the condemnation and trial

Looking into the sentencing of this Brutus helps to draw even more parallels to
real life instances that the TRC came across. The sentence that was delivered upon
the First Brutus was two hundred and twelve years imprisonment, due to the fact
that this First Brutus was the source that performed these acts, and the victims had
identified him. The two hundred and twelve year sentence is not an arbitrary
number, but was shaped after the sentence that was handed down to Eugene De
Kock. De Kock was the commander of Section C1 of the South African police, a
secret force that was responsible for multiple bombings and murders during the
height of apartheid (Gellhorn, Murrow, Mitford, Hersh, and Schlosser 190). De
Kock was a ruthless man who was associated with first hand kidnapping, torture,
and murder of known opponents of the government, just like the foot soldier role
that the first head of Brutus represents. By assigning a life like sentence to this
head of Brutus Jane Taylor highlights the reality of the court system at the end of
apartheid, and helps to bring about a sense of justice served upon the first head of
Brutus. The second head of Brutus was described as being a high member in the
chain of command of the military. He was not one of the people out on the assaults
that took place, but rather was behind the scenes, helping
Advantages Of Makeup
There are an abundant amount of young ladies and even young men who love
makeup but never know which brands to buy. These young men and women often
think that buying dupes of high end makeup in the drugstore is the best way to go
when in all actuality, it is not. Drugstore makeup is a go to when the makeup artists
are not doing an extravagant look and when the consumers do not care so much for
the outcome. On the other hand, a makeup artist would go for the high end makeup
for those elegant looks when they do care for the outcome and wantperfection. When
high end makeup is compared and contrasted to drugstore makeup, the buyers can
clearly see that high end makeup is the better choice.
When consumers are buying makeup they want to know the value of the product. A
consumer knows that when buying a product from a drugstore it is cheaper, so this
way all the products are each under twenty dollars. However , they might be cheaper
but the fragrance might not always smell the best. Not only is the fragrance not the
best, but the packaging is not always pretty. On the contrary, consumers also know
that buying from a higher end brand and store the prices are dramatically higher but
know it is worth it. Unlike drugstore makeup, the fragrance and packaging smell and
look elegant. For people who love makeup, most agree that paying for luxury beauty
items (Shunatona) are willing to pay extra money because they know it ll be worth it
.Due to this obvious fact, most of the
Type B Personality Essay
Can personality type make a person more susceptible to certain health problems?
According to psychologists there are 3 main types of personality, type A, type B,
and type C. Type A individuals (McLeod, 2011) tend to have traits of
competitiveness, time urgency, and hostility. This increased competitiveness of
which leads them to experience a lesser sense of joy upon achieving the goals
which they have set for themselves. Due to this high work involvement Type A
individuals are easily wound up and tend to overreact in potentially hostile
situations, they also happen to have high blood pressure (hypertension). Type A
individuals also experience a constant sense of urgency and seem to be in a
continuous rush against the clock, this trait of which causes them to become quickly
impatient and attempt to carry out more tasks than what is possible in their
schedule. When hostile behavior occurs from these individuals for example,
through physical behavior, it usually involves some kind of aggression and
potential bullying (Forshaw, 2012). This hostility seems to be the main factor
linked to heart disease. In comparison individuals with type B personality
(McLeod,2011) tend to be more relaxed than type A individuals and as a result are
generally more tolerant of others, experiencing lower levels of anxiety and displaying

The Role of Religion in Elementary Secondary Education...
Freedom of Religion is a liberty considered by many Americans to be one of the
defining aspects of their country, but a line is drawn when one person s freedom
infringes upon another s. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. With those words, in the First
Amendment to the Constitution, the fledgling United States of America became the
first nation to place into law the notion that religious beliefs were a private matter for
individuals who had the legal right to freedom of conscience, and that no government
had the right or authority to dictate what religious opinions people shall or shall not

Of all the controversy, the subject that fuels the most passion is the creationism vs.
evolution debate that has been fiercely contested ever since the theory s inception.
The theory of evolution states that all life has slowly evolved from lower animals
to become what it is today, adapting to new stimuli, and passing on superior and
beneficial genes as inferior or negative genes die out. For example: the neck of a
giraffe at first glance seems ungainly and impractical. However, upon observation,
we see that giraffes in their natural habitat use their neck to reach the highest leaves
on the trees, and their tough tongues to tear them off. Evolution proposes that at one
time, there was an ancestral ungulate hoofed mammal that fed off of the leaves on a
tree. For its survival, the tree adapted and began to grow leaves higher up on its
trunk, to avoid over consumption from the mammal. Trees that failed to follow suit
would die from over consumption, failing to pass on their traits, leaving only the
trees that grew their leaves higher up. The ungulates in turn would starve because
they couldn t reach the leaves. But a mutation would develop, causing a few
ungulates to have somewhat longer necks. Naturally, they would survive being able
to reach their food and the shorter necked mammals would die. This is the notion of
survival of the fittest, and a very basic explanation of evolutionary theory. On the
Buddhism And Confucianism Similarities
Buddhism and Confucianism have many features that are alike and many features
that are different. Confucianism and Buddhism had different importance and values.
But, they both had many similar ideas.
Buddhism and Confucianism were very different from each other. One reason is
Buddhism s creator was Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. While Confucianism was
created by Confucius. Another reason is Buddhism and Confucianism had different
goals. The goal of Buddhism was to reach nirvana. Nirvana means the perfect state
of peace. Confucianism s goal was to make sure there was respect, social harmony,
and proper roles on society. Confucianism was all about respect. Buddhism was all
about peace. Buddhism meditated and fasted, while Confucianism followed
Atrium Fire Rate
Yi, Huo, Li and Feng Chow [13] study the relationship between the time when
flooding flow of smoke occurs and the aspect ratio of atrium under different heat
release rate (HRR) of fire,32 simulations were carried out using a field model, FDS
(Fire Dynamics Simulator, Version 3). The size of the atrium and HRR of steady fire
are listed in Table (2 4). In all the simulations, the size of the fire room was set at 3 m
Г— 3 m Г— 3 m, the fire was located at the center of the floor of the fire room, the
height of atrium was 27 m. The vents in the fire floor were both 2 m Г— 1.5 m with
sill at 1 m above the floor. The ambient temperature is 20 oC.
Fig. (2 8) shows the situation of early stage when a fire occurs in an adjacent floor
to an atrium. The fire floor has two vertical vents (WA and WB) open to outside and
the atrium respectively. The ceiling of the atrium is open, and it is supposed that the
isolation between the atrium and the other floors is ideal. ... Show more content on

The velocity profile at the vents is simply shown in Fig. 1. At the top of the vents,
because the smoke in the fire floor is lighter than the air in the atrium and outside,
pressure difference between the fire floor and outside (atrium as the same) is larger
than at the lower place of the vents. At the bottom of the vents, the pressure
difference gets negative to that at the top. So there should be a zero pressure
difference or zero velocity plane О± and ОІ at the two vents
In Nature By Ralph Waldo
The essays Nature and self reliance almost support each other in the way they
depict self respect as not just an aspect of life, but as life Itself and anything less is
more dead than any end one could meet under most any circumstances. They simply
approach the subject with different idea s. This kind of thing of course is to be
expected due to the fact the author published both books. Oddly enough the books,
both reference nature and self reliance only each one is more dedicated to one
subject over the other. Really, they re the same book simply written in different
stages of his life and thus seen From different point of view. Ralph Waldo almost
makes an attempt at a prophetic call on what will happen, a rather interesting attempt
making... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of Waldo s extreme fervor for Self gratification in Nature is I become
a transparent eye ball; I am nothing; I see all believing himself some kind of all

his civilized nature. Just as soon an example of zealous in self reliance Whoso
would be a man must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms
must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore if it be goodness.
Nothing is at last sacred, but the integrity of our own mind. Absolve you to
yourself, and you shall have the suffrage of the world. basically saying that if one
is to claim they are mature enough and they claim to be an adult then they will not
conform simply because everyone else is doing it. That nothing is as holy as what
makes your mind your, mind and not someone else s. Again, similarities and
differences are present everywhere, Nature makes another claim to some form of
dogmatic connection to nature. Self reliance on the other hand makes the claim
that if one is not strong enough will use to make such an claim or some other they
are dead by every sense but name. He has such a outlandish look on the way
humans work and think that it is very obvious why he and civilization had a falling

Themes Of Percy Jackson And The Sea Of Monsters
The book that I read this quarter was called Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters.
The author of this book is Rick Riordan, who is also the author of the other Percy
Jackson books. The genre of this book is fantasy fiction/greek mythology. This book
has been put in this genre because the storyline discusses greek mythologyand is not
very realistic. The book takes place in modern day and it has multiple place settings.
These main settings include Camp Half Blood, and the Sea of Monsters. Camp Half
Blood is a camp where demigods train and have fun, the sea of monsters is a
mythical sea that is very dangerous as well. The time frame of this book is about 3
weeks. This story is written in first person by none other than Percy Jackson
himself. The themes of this book are learning to accept and love others as well as
doing the right thing and fighting for what you love. The theme loving and
accepting others was come across because Percy finds out he has a brother, who is
much different than him. The other theme, fighting for what you love, has come
across because Percy is fighting for a camp he loves and he will do anything to save
it. This book shows strong themes of love and passion The major character, or
protagonist, in this story is Percy Jackson. Percy Jackson is a half blood (meaning
he is half god and half mortal) and his father is Poseidon. He is thirteen years old
and just finished seventh grade in this story. He is a caring and good friend and he
will do anything
Theme Of Characterisation In Al Colegio
Characterisation is important in any short story as it helps to make the story that
little bit more appealing, because it s a short story, it is important to get the
characterisation right as we don t have hundreds of pages to learn about the
character, in fact we only really have a page or two, maybe even less depending on
the story, we might only have paragraphs to learn about the character. When looking
at characterisation in the short story, you have too keep in mind, which character
catches your eye? Is it the main character? Is it a supporting character? Why do they
appeal to you? How does the author of the short story portray and reveal the
character? The idea of characterisation is literally an act of describing certain
characteristics,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These brief descriptions and use of characterisation of society suggest that feeling
of isolation for the narrative that is describing this, is already in an isolated or
alienated position so the use of the dark colour just adds more to the isolated feeling
and the dark emotions. As the short story advances, so does the suggestion that the
main character is alienated or isolated. She is tired, exhausted, but does anything for
her daughter Estoy casi tan cansada como el dГa en que la puse en el
mundo...Exhausta. The mother seems occupied with her daughter but by herself
there is sadness about her, loneliness, the mother is more a solitary character,
meaning that she doesn t need anybody but her and her daughter and being free of
emotions and involvements with others. Which only adds to the idea of isolation
surrounding this character, an example being doy de la direcciГіn de casa de las
abuelitas, un lugar concertГі donde se que todos seremos felices la niГ±a y las
abuelas charlando, y, yo fumando un cigarrillo, solitaria y en paz . But now the
character of the mother will become even more lonely as she says goodbye to her
daughter because it s that part in the story where the daughter is experiencing her

INTRODUCTION In an era where internet and social media dominate, there must
be a consideration of legal issues concerning privacy rights. But where is the line
drawn when it may be associated with the sexual exploitation of youth? R. v.
Barabash, 2015 SCC 29 [Barabash] is a circumstantial case that centres on concerns
of privacy rights involving private use, child pornography, as well as regarding the
establishments of exploitation and consent. Barabash involved two fourteen year
old girls who were runaways, dependant on drugs and involved in prostitution.
According to Statistics Canada (2008) at the time of this case, youth aged 12 to 14
were twice as likely to experience sexual violence then that of young adults, this
statistic was even higher if the victim is female (Sexual Assault, para. 4). While
they were staying with two significantly older men they were involved in sexual
activity that was videotaped and photographed. Under s.163.1(2) of the Criminal
Code the men were charged for making child pornography as well as the older man
was charged with possession of child pornography under s. 163.1(4). While the
trial judge found all elements of the offences were established, the accused raised in
defence the private use exception outlined in R. v. Sharpe, 2001 SCC 2 [Sharpe],
which the judge failed to disprove beyond a reasonable doubt. Through theoretical
and legal frameworks this paper will analyze the defence of private use through
objective analysis with reference to

It could be the indoor regulator. In the event that the issue is with the indoor

Once you ve affirmed that the heater is not the issue, there are a few things you can
do to investigate all alone before calling a repairman. On the off chance that those

to repair or supplant the gadget.(Kompareit.com, 2016)
Broken indoor regulator can bring about amazing temperature swings, a heater that

the indoor regulator is the issue, swing it to the inverse setting (in case you re

temperature far up. On the off chance that nothing happens following a couple of
minutes, the indoor regulator is broken or defective. (Home Guides | SF Gate, 2016)

Environmental Impact Assessment Report
Introduction
Environmental Impact Assessment is very advanced process of forecasting
influence on environment of planned operation, in this case High Speed 2. It is
crucial to do EIA before any construction works commence, it will allow designers to
change or improve the project in order to minimise negative consequences of it.
This paper include analyse of main environmental issues, such as: impact on
agriculture, forestry and soils; air quality; climate, community, cultural heritage,
ecology, land quality, visual effects, noise/vibration, waste material resources and
water resources/ flood risk.

Educators And Their Influence Of Empathy
Educators and their Influence of Empathy in Students Merriam Webster defines
empathy as the feeling that you understand and share another person s experiences
and emotions: the ability to share someone else s feelings (Empathy, n.d.). Studies
show that already one year old children engage in situations in which an adult needed
help to accomplish an action overcoming problems. These results also show that
infants readily provided help to adults in most conditions in which they are able to
interact. Additional studies suggest that children s prosocial behaviors become more
differentiated and less dependent on communicative cues with increasing age (Paulus
et.al., 2015, pg. 55). These situations are important in the development of empathyin
children because it allows the child to interact with others and begin the stages of
empathy. Martin Hoffman s theory of empathy includes information that cognitive
development is directly related to the development of empathy (Johansson, 2008, pg.
36). As children grow and interact with others, levels of empathy become evident.
Hoffman suggests that there are four levels of empathy in children:
Global empathy In the first year children may match the emotions they witness (e.g.,
by crying when another infant is crying, but the emotion is involuntary and
undifferentiated).
Egocentric empathy From the second year on children actively offer help. The kind
of help offered is what they themselves would find
Jaguar Commercial Analysis
April 6th, 2014
Media/Commercial Analysis
Marketing is defined as the activities of a company associated with buying and
selling a product or service, which includes advertising, selling and delivering
products to people. People who work in marketing departments of companies try to
get the attention of target audiences by using slogans, packaging design, celebrity
endorsements and general media exposure. One of the most mainstream tactics to
market a product to a potential target market is by using TV commercials. The
elements of TV commercials, including audio and visual aspects, as well as lighting,
camera angles and movement, and music subliminally send messages to a potential

are aware that Jaguar is on the rise and, based on the visual aspects of the ad, they

mysterious.
When the XFR meets the Benz, BMW, and Audi, the music starts to take a turn for a

climax when the XFR roars and scares the other cars away. Speaking of the roar , the

other 3 cars. This is to make the XFR seem more exclusive and special than its
more traditional rivals. Jaguar has a lot of work to do if they want to take over the
reigns from the likes of Mercedes, Audi, and BMW, but the advertising campaign
shows that they are ready to take on that

Recruitment issues
According to Dowling and Schuler 1990 (as cited in Greenidge, Alleyne, Parris,
Grant, 2012) recruitment is the search for and acquisition of potential job
candidates in sufficient numbers and quality. Now, in an age where skills shortage
and an ever increasing demand for them is no longer news, the importance of the
recruitment process comes to the fore, to the extent of looking at this process now
as the McKinsey Company 1997 report (as cited in Macky, 2008) coins it as `the war
for talent .
When an organisation embarks on this recruitment quest,
Cause And Effect Of Tornados
To form a tornado the atmosphere needs to create an instability. The air closest to the
ground will be warm, humid, and have south facing winds. In the upper atmosphere,
the air will be cold with west or southwest facing winds. These two components in the
upper and lower atmosphere together create the atmospheric instability. Another key
component to form a tornadois wind shear. Wind shear is the change in wind speed
and direction of wind while the warmer and cooler air are chasing each other
around in the circle, creating the height of the tornado. ( Prepare for a Tornado,
2017) Although tornados have been recorded in every continent except for
Antarctica most are found in central United States better known as tornado alley a
stretch of land from the western part of Texas to North Dakota. On average, there
are two thousand tornadoes annually, but two out of three of those tornadoes happen
in the United States. The states with the most tornados on average are Texas,
Kansas, Oklahoma, and Florida. Tornadoes form in the central part of the United
States most commonly because of the reoccurring atmospheric instability from the
dry polar air that meets the warm moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. (Prepare for a
Tornado, 2017) A storm capable of producing a tornado can occur at any time but
most often they occur in the spring and summer, June and May have the highest
number of tornados recorded. Tornadoes can happen at any time of the day but most
often occur between the

Infection is the most dreaded complication in orthopedic surgery. It causes
increased morbidity and mortality and is a source of great harassment not only for
the patient but the doctor as well. Incidence of Surgical site infection in USA is

Abraham Maslow, Abraham Erikson, And Sigmund Freud s
Theory
When you think about Abraham Maslow, Erik Erikson, and Sigmund Freud s
theories, they all have to do with psychology. They all have to do with the mind.
Abraham Maslow s theory, Theory of Hierarchy Needs, is a description of the needs
that motivate human behavior. Erik Erikson s theory, Theory Eight Stages of
Development, has eight stages that include trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame
/doubt, initiative vs. guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. role confusion,
intimacy vs. isolation, generativity vs. stagnation, and integrity vs. despair. Sigmund
Freuds theory, Theory ID, EGO, SUPEREGO, emphasized the importance of the
unconscious mindand a primary assumption that the unconscious mind governs
behavior to a greater degree than people suspect. Abraham Maslow s theory, Theory
of Hierarchy Needs, is a motivational theory in psychologythat has a tier model of
the five things a human needs. Maslow stated that people are motivated to achieve
certain needs and that some needs take precedence over others. The five stages, from
bottom to top, include Physiological needs( food, water, warmth, and rest), the
second stage: Safety Needs ( security and safety), third stage: Belongingness and love
needs ( intimate relationships and friends), the fourth stage: Esteem Needs (prestige
and feeling of accomplishment), and finally the last stage: Self actualization (
achieving one s full potential, including creative potential). The five stage model can

Two Kinds Essay
In this quote there is an underlying experience from it s author, Pearl S. Buck, that
contributes an explanation while solidifying the information. Buck spent most her
childhood in China, living at home with an American family and outside in a
Chinese society, and all the while observing and experiencing two lives. In
correlation to the quote, Buck has seen the divide of the societies, even in its
maternal ways, and vocalizes how no matter how a motherchooses to show care and
affection for their child, loveis deeply rooted into their practices. To set a particular
example, take a mother receiving news her child is at the top of their class. Now the

America to start a new life. The nation America, to the mother, is a place of
opportunity in which one can be and do anything. Continually, the mother with a new

channels her aspirations and knowledge of America s opportunity into the narrator,
with constant tests for signs of a special attribute. Eventually, the narrator has enough

Team Work And Team Effectiveness
Executive Summary:
This report describes and analyzes the statement Is establishing team work difficult in
organizations . Thus it focuses on the importance of team work in the organizations
and its influence on people s behaviors. This report begins with the explanation of the
terms team , team work and team effectiveness . It then explores whether team work
is easy or difficult to establish in the organizations through the context of an example
from a renowned multinational organization Ford Motors. In the end, the paper
explains four management theoretical models on the implication of team work and
team effectiveness in the organizations.
Introduction:
Team work and team effectiveness are very crucial for the success of any
organization. In order to understand their implications in any organization, it is
imperative to first understand the meaning of the term team . A team can be defined
as a set of different people with different skills and different individual goals but
working towards a common organizational goal (Kozolwski Bell, 2003). Team work
can be defined as the process when people from different backgrounds but
interdependent in tasks work together collaboratively as a group (Benoliel Somech,
2014). Furthermore, the team effectiveness can be defined as the capacity of the team
to accomplish the objectives administered environment in an organization (Baiden
Price, 2011).

Rodney King Theory
2 The community in Los Angeles, in particular of those in minority communities felt
forced into a situation that the only way for them to be taken seriously was for them
to riot. Strain theory holds that crime is created out of desperation that communities
have for not reaching societies goal, because they are not given the means of
reaching it, thus they have to succeed in alternative ways. The Los Angelesriots
reacted in alternative ways to the verdict of Rodney King, as they were displeased by
the results. The Los Angeles police department and governmental officials did not
give the community members much room to calm down after the news, and much
worse added fuel to the fire. With the News of Rodney King s verdict and the history

Strain theory states that crime is created out of desperation of not meeting societies
goals, because they lack the resources. The police and government officials in Los
Angles targeted the African American community, and made them feel subjugated.
An, example is Police Chief Darrel Gates, a controversial governmental figure who
targeted Anglo Saxon individuals for police. Even though he was not like either by
the Los Angeles community, and Police departments, because the police chief
stayed for life he maintained his power over Los Angeles. He was aggressive
supporting paramilitary tactics, and prejudice of African American communities. His
actions dominated the life of African Americans, as they were always seen as
suspicious and under police presence. The police department with the support of
Police Chief Darrel Gates became much more militarized and willing to use tanks and
other tactics in minority communities, destroying homes and lives as collateral

The Five Causes Of Invasive Species
Invasive Species Invasive species are one of the 5 causes of the inevitable 6th
extinction. An invasive species is any kind of plant, animal, fungi, or bacteria that
is not endemic to a region but, when introduced, can spread quickly and cause
destruction to that region. Primarily due human activities, these species are spread
by sea, air, and other ways. Sometimes these species are purposely brought to an
area as a means of pesticide or other uses, but others can be introduced accidentally.
When an new species is introduced to an ecosystem, it can destroy wildlife
because organisms may not be evolved to defend against such invaders. On
December 26, 2013, in a small village in Guinea, a anomalous disease began
spreading. An 18 month old boy fell victim to the illness characterized by fever,
black stools, and vomiting and would soon die from it. The boy is said to have
contracted the disease from infected bats that were closer to human settlements due
to deforestation. By January 2014, several members of the boy s family and those
who had helped them had developed similar symptoms resulting in death. Soon after,
the disease had spread to those who had attended funerals or took care of ill relatives
causing this pattern of exposure continued. An alert on January 24th was raised when
the head of the Meliandou health post informed district health officials of cases of
severe diarrhoea with a fatal outcome. An investigation was setup where a team of
health officials found what

Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length
of time, energized by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle

and some more. The business sector progression were further pushed by the
propensity of vehicle producers to expand the obligation of their suppliers. It has
been and keeps on being essentially the stringent discharges enactment that has

primary Euro outflows standard produced results in 1993 (Euro 1). Amid the same

the developing designing endeavors for huge arrangement generation vehicle extends,
the circumstance was rapidly breaking down for the creators of specialty models
subsequent to the mid 90s. Says Bernhard Bihr, Managing Director of Bosch

of the assets that could go into adjusting arrangement auto items for their vehicles. In
any case, with discharges enactment getting harder and rivalry getting harder, they
understood that they required more parameters and capacities to be tweaked for their

Hurricane Detector Research Paper
Do you recall watching TV, or listening to music, when a weather alert comes out?
Hurricane hunters are the people who find and detect storms that can cause potential
harm and damage. The dropsonde hurricane detector is an instrument they use to
calculate the intensity, humidity, air pressure, and other factors essential to predict
the outcome of the storm.
Hurricane hunters drop this instrument into the ocean, and immediately, information
comes pouring in. According to Harriet Jane Caldwell, The devices fall to the
ocean and transmit bursts of data to the airplane twice every second. (Caldwell, 10)
The result of this is a more thorough analysis, as well as immediate updates on the
severity of a storm. Caldwell also says, The data includes temperature, humidity,
atmospheric pressure, as well as the speed and direction of winds. (Caldwell, 10) Not

Comparison Of Hamlet s Hamartia
Hamartia is a character defect or flaw that brings about the downfall of a tragic
hero, usually resulting from excessive pride or another virtue (Cook). In William
Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, Hamlet s hamartia is essentially his inability to act or
indecisiveness, and inability to consolidate his thoughts and actions, which is often
misconstrued as he holds on to his past. This flaw can be seen through his
incapability of committing suicide, inability to come to terms with his father s death,
putting on a play to delay killing his uncle Claudius and the inability to kill Claudius
while he is praying. It is obvious that Hamletchooses not to act, and this is his tragic
flaw. In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman s hamartia

Appalachian Culture In J. D. Vance s Hillbilly Elegy
Today in the American society, minority groups voices are beginning to be heard.
These groups desire to overcome the oppression and numerous stereotypes and to be
recognized truthfully and respectfully. However, our society also misses one other
voice the working class white conservatives. People have many judgements about the
poor, white Americans, especially those living in Appalachia. Many Americans view
the Appalachian people as white trash and a plague to the society. But, these
judgments are invalid because no one understands or tries to understand this culture.
In addition, the hillbillies of Appalachia are too socially isolated to feel they can
speak out about the misconceptions. In Hillbilly Elegy, J.D. Vance presents a... Show

Like a majority of people, I had no real knowledge or understanding of the
Appalachian culture. Vance s extensively detailed accounts of his childhood forces
one to feel like he or she is also experiencing it. It is hard to imagine that the
Appalachian culture resides in the United States, some even in Pennsylvania, yet
barely anyone in the mainstream recognizes Appalachia. Because of Hillbilly
Elegy, I clearly understand the flaws in the American Dream narrative. Even
though the American Dream is setup to give hope to those in the lower class,
Vance demonstrates that the lower class has huge disadvantages and unequal
opportunity in towards trying to achieve it. Since the American Dream is the main
theme throughout our course texts, it is helpful to note that the idea of the
American Dream can keep the poor down instead of bringing the poor up. Also, it
is important to use the knowledge from Hillbilly Elegy when discussing today s
society and the poor. Society accuses poor people of laziness and pessimism.
However, after reading Hillbilly Elegy, my perspective of the lower class changed.
It is not always that Appalachian people do not want to work; it is that they have
never experienced hard work pay off; therefore, they see no sense in trying. I truly
enjoyed reading Hillbilly Elegy, and I hope that from Vance s insight, our society can
be more empathic and try to come up with more effective solutions to help the

Old Testament is the God of Justice who ordered the death of women and children,
and even killed the firstborns of Egypt by His own hand and then reconcile Him
with the God of great Mercy who gave us Salvation by dying for us on the cross.
One such passage is found in the Book of Exodus 11:1 10 and 12:29 32 in which,
The Lord struck all the first born in the land of Egypt, from the first born of Pharaoh
who sat on his throne, to the cattle. The Church s many theologians in the Early
Church, Medieval Church, and Modern Church addressed this particular passage.
Between these centuries there was a tendency between two extremes, one being a

Thomas Aquinus would agree that it really was God who killed the firstborn of
Egypt based on an argument made in his Summa Theologica. While not directly
referencing to the passage, he argues that although it may seem in certain Scripture
passages God acts or orders others to act in a way contrary to virtue, He does not
because that would be against His nature. In fact Thomas establishes the justness of
God taking a life because He is the author of life and death. Therefore, to take the
passage literally would not be regarded as unjust or contrary to God s nature,
because life was a gift given to man in the first place, not a right that we
Symbols In The Mortal Instruments
Clarissa Fairchild A mandala is a circular visual meditation tool that is primarily
used in Hindu and Buddhist culture. The word mandala comes from the Sanskrit
and means circle. The center of a mandala is always connected to its circumference
and its circumference is tied to the center. This character analysis is about the
protagonist of the very well known dramatic/fantasy novel, The Mortal
instruments: City of Bones, written by Cassandra Clare, and the character is
Clarissa Fairchild, or Clary for short. The novel is set in present day New York, and
follows a 16 year old girl, whose life turns into a mess when she sees someone getting
killed, her mothergets kidnapped, and she is told that all the stories are true , meaning
all the myths about demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves, etc. Clary, a dynamic
character, who is selfless, loving, artistic, stubborn, and determined, goes through an
adventure that she will never forget.

I chose a mule as the symbol, because stereotypically they are stubborn, and have
been called that for centuries, for their denial to do something, that they don t want to
do. Although Clary is, selfless, loving, and artistic, she also has an unfavorable trait,
stubbornness. This trait comes from the fact that whenever she puts her mind into
something (usually trying to help someone), she won t change it. An example of her
being stubborn is: When she pushed Jace off the demon (who was impersonating a
boy), Stupid little mundie, Isabelle said between her teeth You could have gotten
Jace killed (pg 14), she was so focused on saving the boy (who is actually a demon)
she didn t realize what she was actually doing. Stubbornness is Clary s biggest flaw,
she gets so focused on something, that she is oblivious of the

  • 2. Redemption In Crime And Punishment Analysis Suffering as the Road to Redemption in Crime and Punishment Without suffering, there is no hope of achieving redemption. This idea is straightforward; no one consistently achieves what they want, in this case redemption, without struggling in some shape or form in order to get it. In Crime and Punishment, A Russian man known as Raskolnikov murders an old pawnbroker and her younger sister. The work progresses to show that the motivation behind the murder is, among other things, to test a theory that Raskolnikov has about what kind of man he is. After an extensive series of subplots and nearly insane moral arguments with himself and those around him, Raskolnikov confesses and finds religion and redemption in a Siberian labor prison. Utilizing the world around him and his own life events throughout the piece, Dostoyevsky fills Crime and Punishment with the juxtaposition of characters, irony, and allusions in order to present the importance of suffering and hard labor as the only means to redemption. Dostoyevsky s own life events as well as the culture of intellectuals in St. Petersburg at the time were all of incredibly great influence on the novel. Dostoyevsky grows up a radical intellectual in St. Petersburg, keeping in touch with prevalent moral ideologies, as his protagonist Raskolnikov does. He joins an illegal group known as the Petrashevsky Circle, for which he is eventually arrested and placed in front of a firing squad. At the last moment before they are shot, a

Each individual athlete picks his or her specific sport depending on interest, enjoyment, or athletic performance; however, a majority of athletes in sports choose their sport from parental influence. Through elementary and middle school, children are usually involved in more than one sport. Once the children reach high school, they usually choose one sport to pursue and put the most effort into. This decision is usually swayed by what the parents would like to see their childdoing. The relationship between parents and the sports their children play has been seen in movies and shows for ages. This can be from the way the sport is played, teams losing, players getting injured, fights between players, and/or wrong calls from officials throughout the game. Everybody has heard the references to soccer moms or little league parents misbehaving at games or showing rage; however, many believe the reason is because no one told them they couldn t behave that way (Heinzmann). These parents are negative role models when they show aggression and rage over their child s game. At games, people have been injured physically and emotionally due to high aggressive behaviors. How can people fix these behaviors in the sport environment? Social workers and level headed people can teach parents their actual role in their child s sports career. This role should be positive and motivational support rather than negative (Heinzmann). Parents are passionate for their child s sports and performance, and they will do anything to make sure their child is not discredited or pushed to the back. Parents feel a natural obligation to fight for what they feel their child deserves, and that is where aggression can come in to play at
  • 5. My Thoughts On The Classroom Honestly, when I walked into the classroom on the first day, I didn t know what to expect. I had signed up for the course just as a way to get credit for an IDS requirement, and did not think too much about this class at first. My thoughts were racing as the idea of a circled classroom seemed kind of strange to me. However, after that first day, I knew that I was going to enjoy the class. We talked about each other before we did anything else. We formally introduced ourselves and expressed our feelings and beliefs to one another, and showed every person in that room that we all have our differences, but, we can still share this experience together. This was different than any other class that I had previously taken, last semester, or in high school. There was so much to this class that I could use in everyday life than probably any other class previously taken. We were taught lessons that had helped change our lives for the better. We were also introduced to such inspirational characters, whether it be Julia Butterfly Hill, Henry David Thoreau, or even some people we never got the names. The videos that were shown to us were also very inspiring, and they definitely made me think of what we are doing as a nation, or better yet, as a species of animal living on this planet. There was so much that I have learned, that I cannot simply forget in a day s notice, unlike most other classes this semester. The knowledge that I have gathered is truly a gift, that I will be thankful for

During the late 1990 s and early 2000 s, the internet was not very popular in China and people were ignorant to its proper use. Knowing this, Jack Ma decided to start this internet user friendly company that would allow his clients to perform business transactions with other businesses/suppliers in China. Some of the factors that contributed to the success of Alibaba in the Chinese e commerce industry were: First mover advantage: Alibaba has a first mover advantage that makes it very hard for competitors to chip away at their lead in the market. (Dick Wei, Analyst, J.P. Morgan Securities Inc.,2 in 2007). Alibaba started its operations when e commerce in China was in its infancy stage. In this essay you will learn about my flaws or weaknesses and strengths of writing. Although everyone has flaws they also have the willingness to improve themselves. With that being said, I believe the best way to address your flaws are to debate on ways you could possibly improve in the weaker areas. The following paragraphs will introduce you to not only my weaknesses and my strengths but also the way in which I would like to become more proficient in my writing. In searching for my weaknesses and strengths I found that the easiest to identify were my weaknesses. I also realized that I could identify more things I struggled with rather than excelling at. The biggest weakness I believe that I have is creating a closing sentence for my paragraphs. When I do create a closing sentence, they tend to be very boring. Another weakness I believe I have is my sentence grammar, such as misplacing modifiers, apostrophe usage and the lack of subject verb agreement. Serious Insulation If you re new to Florida from a colder climate, you know how important insulation can be to a home s comfort, particularly in winter. That s true even in the Sunshine State. Here, you ll spend far more time in air conditioning. But proper insulation also buttresses your house from summer heat. And yes, depending where you live in Florida, you ll experience occasional cool snaps. So focus on maintaining consistent interior comfort year around. The best way to do that is to be sure your new Florida home boasts the maximum amount of good quality insulation all over the house. You ll see fewer spikes in your power bill, and make fewer tweaks to your thermostat. Whole House Vacuuming It s the best thing since sliced bread! We re only half kidding. This is for those of you who despise lugging upright vacuum cleaners, or heavy canister cleaners all over the house. A whole house vacuuming system simplifies an onerous chore.

This began as early as the Sumerian period and even today is still used. Although these methods have been used for thousands of years, different styles emerged when looking at different periods but this does not go to say that cultures never have not adopted certain styles and methods from others. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the most beloved hero gods is Herakles, or Heracles as the romans and current culture pronounces it. According to greek mythology Heracles is the son of Zeus and the greek woman Alcmene, this makes Hercules a half god. He was the result of Zeus affair which ironically earns him the hatred of Hera Zeus wife . She attempted to murder him as a child by sending two serpents into his crib, but he was so strong that he strangled both; one in each hand. Hera goes on to hate Heracles as grows older. In the black vase painting Herakles and Cerberus, it shows Heracles last labor being complete. Hercules final labor was to kidnap Cerberus, the guardian of the underworld and bring him to king Eurystheus. He was given this task because returning from the underworld was impossible, so for Heracles to return with Cerberus shows how powerful he was. This vase was painted during the Archaic Period in 530 525 B.C. as greek because of its qualities. The Greeks liked symmetry and the decorations on this vase follow the shape and so does the two figures; when looking closely they both are slightly leaned forward following the curvature of the vase. There is also a hierarchical scale, Heracles is larger than the king signifying he is more important and powerful. Unlike Rameses in egypt, the Greeks saw their gods as above the people. Something the Egyptians and Greeks did have in common is how they gave their religious and political divine figures muscular bodies. Both cultures did this because big muscles are associated with great power. It was and still is the ideal of a perfected body. Also in this black figure painting the chest are facing forward toward the viewer just like in the egyptian wall paintings. Although Greeks created many of their own methods of doing things, they still adopted ways from the Greeks and ancient

The sentence that was delivered upon the First Brutus was two hundred and twelve years imprisonment, due to the fact that this First Brutus was the source that performed these acts, and the victims had identified him. The two hundred and twelve year sentence is not an arbitrary number, but was shaped after the sentence that was handed down to Eugene De Kock. De Kock was the commander of Section C1 of the South African police, a secret force that was responsible for multiple bombings and murders during the height of apartheid (Gellhorn, Murrow, Mitford, Hersh, and Schlosser 190). De Kock was a ruthless man who was associated with first hand kidnapping, torture, and murder of known opponents of the government, just like the foot soldier role that the first head of Brutus represents. By assigning a life like sentence to this head of Brutus Jane Taylor highlights the reality of the court system at the end of apartheid, and helps to bring about a sense of justice served upon the first head of Brutus. The second head of Brutus was described as being a high member in the chain of command of the military. On the other hand, a makeup artist would go for the high end makeup for those elegant looks when they do care for the outcome and wantperfection. When high end makeup is compared and contrasted to drugstore makeup, the buyers can clearly see that high end makeup is the better choice. When consumers are buying makeup they want to know the value of the product. A consumer knows that when buying a product from a drugstore it is cheaper, so this way all the products are each under twenty dollars. According to psychologists there are 3 main types of personality, type A, type B, and type C. Type A individuals (McLeod, 2011) tend to have traits of competitiveness, time urgency, and hostility. This increased competitiveness of which leads them to experience a lesser sense of joy upon achieving the goals which they have set for themselves. Due to this high work involvement Type A individuals are easily wound up and tend to overreact in potentially hostile situations, they also happen to have high blood pressure (hypertension). Type A individuals also experience a constant sense of urgency and seem to be in a continuous rush against the clock, this trait of which causes them to become quickly impatient and attempt to carry out more tasks than what is possible in their schedule. When hostile behavior occurs from these individuals for example, through physical behavior, it usually involves some kind of aggression and potential bullying (Forshaw, 2012). This hostility seems to be the main factor linked to heart disease. Of all the controversy, the subject that fuels the most passion is the creationism vs. evolution debate that has been fiercely contested ever since the theory s inception. The theory of evolution states that all life has slowly evolved from lower animals to become what it is today, adapting to new stimuli, and passing on superior and beneficial genes as inferior or negative genes die out. For example: the neck of a giraffe at first glance seems ungainly and impractical. However, upon observation, we see that giraffes in their natural habitat use their neck to reach the highest leaves on the trees, and their tough tongues to tear them off. Evolution proposes that at one time, there was an ancestral ungulate hoofed mammal that fed off of the leaves on a tree. For its survival, the tree adapted and began to grow leaves higher up on its trunk, to avoid over consumption from the mammal. Trees that failed to follow suit would die from over consumption, failing to pass on their traits, leaving only the trees that grew their leaves higher up. The ungulates in turn would starve because they couldn t reach the leaves. But a mutation would develop, causing a few ungulates to have somewhat longer necks. Naturally, they would survive being able to reach their food and the shorter necked mammals would die. This is the notion of survival of the fittest, and a very basic explanation of evolutionary theory. On the

Barabash involved two fourteen year old girls who were runaways, dependant on drugs and involved in prostitution. Educators And Their Influence Of Empathy Educators and their Influence of Empathy in Students Merriam Webster defines empathy as the feeling that you understand and share another person s experiences and emotions: the ability to share someone else s feelings (Empathy, n.d.). Studies show that already one year old children engage in situations in which an adult needed help to accomplish an action overcoming problems. These results also show that infants readily provided help to adults in most conditions in which they are able to interact. Additional studies suggest that children s prosocial behaviors become more differentiated and less dependent on communicative cues with increasing age (Paulus et.al., 2015, pg. 55). These situations are important in the development of empathyin children because it allows the child to interact with others and begin the stages of empathy. Martin Hoffman s theory of empathy includes information that cognitive development is directly related to the development of empathy (Johansson, 2008, pg. 36). As children grow and interact with others, levels of empathy become evident. Hoffman suggests that there are four levels of empathy in children: Global empathy In the first year children may match the emotions they witness (e.g., by crying when another infant is crying, but the emotion is involuntary and undifferentiated). Egocentric empathy From the second year on children actively offer help. The kind of help offered is what they themselves would find

The boy is said to have contracted the disease from infected bats that were closer to human settlements due to deforestation. By January 2014, several members of the boy s family and those who had helped them had developed similar symptoms resulting in death. Soon after, the disease had spread to those who had attended funerals or took care of ill relatives causing this pattern of exposure continued. An alert on January 24th was raised when the head of the Meliandou health post informed district health officials of cases of severe diarrhoea with a fatal outcome. An investigation was setup where a team of health officials found what

Perhaps, more accurately, it is not so much that the circus goes on as that the circus has been revived in the American imagination. According to Robert Bogdan in his socio historical study of the freak showin America, the popularity of the circus had run its course by the 1940s (60), attracting in its waning years a lower class of audience, such as new American immigrants, the rural poor and the urban working class (55). The exhibition of freakshad become morally incorrect. Strangely, at the turn of the twenty first century, America is revealing a renewed fascination with freaks, a fascination that has not been so publicly apparent since the Victorian era when freak exhibits were all the rage, and not just for backward country folk waiting for the travelling circus to roll through town, but for sophisticated big city people who frequented P.T. Barnum s famous American Museum at Broadway and Ann Street in New York City. This time around, it is middle America enjoying the circus on their wide screen televisions in the privileged privacy of their dens and theater rooms. As the vast array of freaks in the

Building administrations have been a developing business for a considerable length of time, energized by the expanding many sided quality of electronic vehicle frameworks, for example, motor administration, security framework programming, and some more. The business sector progression were further pushed by the propensity of vehicle producers to expand the obligation of their suppliers. Amid the same time frame, it has been a developing supplier and OEM test to guarantee that another vehicle meets the current standarВd. While it was entirely reasonable to legitimize the developing designing endeavors for huge arrangement generation vehicle extends, the circumstance was rapidly breaking down for the creators of specialty models subsequent to the mid 90s. Says Bernhard Bihr, Managing Director of Bosch Engineering GmbH: Corner model OEMs dependably had a rational comprehension of the assets that could go into adjusting arrangement auto items for their vehicles. In any case, with discharges enactment getting harder and rivalry getting harder, they understood that they required more parameters and capacities to be tweaked for their make. Minor homologation was not adequate any more. At the point when Bosch Engineering was established in 1999

  • 37. Hurricane Detector Research Paper Do you recall watching TV, or listening to music, when a weather alert comes out? Hurricane hunters are the people who find and detect storms that can cause potential harm and damage. The dropsonde hurricane detector is an instrument they use to calculate the intensity, humidity, air pressure, and other factors essential to predict the outcome of the storm. Hurricane hunters drop this instrument into the ocean, and immediately, information comes pouring in. According to Harriet Jane Caldwell, The devices fall to the ocean and transmit bursts of data to the airplane twice every second. (Caldwell, 10) The result of this is a more thorough analysis, as well as immediate updates on the severity of a storm. Caldwell also says, The data includes temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, as well as the speed and direction of winds. (Caldwell, 10) Not only does the dropsonde help predict a storm s intesity, but it also helps determine the location of where the storm will hit. Through the wind direction and intesity, forecasters and others will be able to tell in which direction the storm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caldwell then goes on to say, Before a nor easter can form, pilots fly their planes at high altitudes over the ocean and release dropsondes to collect data on the air conditions that exist ahead of the weather system. (Caldwell, 11) It is with the dropsonde that Northerners have been saved from the catastrophe of having a plethora of snow, with a flooded house. It is due to this versatile and practical piece of technology that we are saved year round from hurricane, cyclones, and
  • 38. Comparison Of Hamlet s Hamartia Hamartia is a character defect or flaw that brings about the downfall of a tragic hero, usually resulting from excessive pride or another virtue (Cook). In William Shakespeare s play, Hamlet, Hamlet s hamartia is essentially his inability to act or indecisiveness, and inability to consolidate his thoughts and actions, which is often misconstrued as he holds on to his past. This flaw can be seen through his incapability of committing suicide, inability to come to terms with his father s death, putting on a play to delay killing his uncle Claudius and the inability to kill Claudius while he is praying. It is obvious that Hamletchooses not to act, and this is his tragic flaw. In Arthur Miller s play, Death of a Salesman, Willy Loman s hamartia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Willy s past contained more happiness and success, which is why he tends to cling on to it. Willy uses the past as a distraction to cope with the difficulties he is experiencing in the present. The past is Willy s escape; however, what Willy does not realize is that his past is contributing to his destruction. Willy Loman thinks too much of himself being a successful at work, his children loving him, and his family being perfect, instead of what is going on in the present. To illustrate, as Willy begins to fall asleep, his memory shifts to a time where he is being cheered on by people, referring to him as God Almighty . As the play narrates Loman, Loman! God Almighty, he ll be great yet. A star like that, magnificent, can never really fade away! (Miller 68). This quote is talking about the success of his son Biff in the past, showing how he is not able to let go of the past and see his son the way he really is. Here, it is evident that Willy has retrieved back to his past to seek comfort and solace with the reality of his present.. Willy finds comfort by thinking of how his life used to be in the past to cope with his troubles in the present. As Ronald Hayman stated in Death of a Salesman , [his] madness is linked with a nostalgia for the better times in the past (Death of a Salesman). This quote explains the reasoning behind Willy s unwillingness to let go of the
  • 39. Spaying And Neutering Research Paper Susie Cue started off with one cat, Snowball. She loved that cat, one day she ran away and disappeared for multiple days. Susie was overwhelmed with sadness, until Snowball reappeared. Susie decided to take Snowball on a trip to the vet to make sure she did not have any diseases or problems. There weren t any problems, but her catended up being pregnant. Since spaying and neutering was not a thing, she could not avoid the inevitable. The cat ended up giving birth to six kittens. Susie kept all of them and the same thing continued to occur, the cats ran away and became pregnant. At the end of the year, Susie had over fifty cats. The world without spaying and neutering leads to an enormous amount of animals that are beyond limits of controlling. These animals get abandoned, people are unable to take care of them,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though, there are many fears people have about the process of spaying and neutering. Some people come up with myths that can persuade others and motivate them not to get their animal spayed or neutered. It s better to have one litter before spaying a pet, ( Myths and Facts ). This myth is not true, every litter counts and those females whom are spayed before they ever have their first heat are typically healthier. Also animals are now allowed to be spayed as young as eight weeks, and the procedure should be done as soon as possible. But my pet is a purebred, just because the animal is purebred does not necessarily make it any more special, some of the animals that go into shelters are purebreds as well, its breed does not stop it from being euthanized. I want my dog to be protective, dogs have natural instincts to protect its home and family, its personality is more defined by its environment and genetics than its sex hormones. Neutering the dog will not affect its behavior negatively; it will make the dog less territorial but still can sense
  • 40. Appalachian Culture In J. D. Vance s Hillbilly Elegy Today in the American society, minority groups voices are beginning to be heard. These groups desire to overcome the oppression and numerous stereotypes and to be recognized truthfully and respectfully. However, our society also misses one other voice the working class white conservatives. People have many judgements about the poor, white Americans, especially those living in Appalachia. Many Americans view the Appalachian people as white trash and a plague to the society. But, these judgments are invalid because no one understands or tries to understand this culture. In addition, the hillbillies of Appalachia are too socially isolated to feel they can speak out about the misconceptions. In Hillbilly Elegy, J.D. Vance presents a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like a majority of people, I had no real knowledge or understanding of the Appalachian culture. Vance s extensively detailed accounts of his childhood forces one to feel like he or she is also experiencing it. It is hard to imagine that the Appalachian culture resides in the United States, some even in Pennsylvania, yet barely anyone in the mainstream recognizes Appalachia. Because of Hillbilly Elegy, I clearly understand the flaws in the American Dream narrative. Even though the American Dream is setup to give hope to those in the lower class, Vance demonstrates that the lower class has huge disadvantages and unequal opportunity in towards trying to achieve it. Since the American Dream is the main theme throughout our course texts, it is helpful to note that the idea of the American Dream can keep the poor down instead of bringing the poor up. Also, it is important to use the knowledge from Hillbilly Elegy when discussing today s society and the poor. Society accuses poor people of laziness and pessimism. However, after reading Hillbilly Elegy, my perspective of the lower class changed. It is not always that Appalachian people do not want to work; it is that they have never experienced hard work pay off; therefore, they see no sense in trying. I truly enjoyed reading Hillbilly Elegy, and I hope that from Vance s insight, our society can be more empathic and try to come up with more effective solutions to help the
  • 41. St. Bonaventure Perhaps one of the most difficult realities a Christian must face when reading the Old Testament is the God of Justice who ordered the death of women and children, and even killed the firstborns of Egypt by His own hand and then reconcile Him with the God of great Mercy who gave us Salvation by dying for us on the cross. One such passage is found in the Book of Exodus 11:1 10 and 12:29 32 in which, The Lord struck all the first born in the land of Egypt, from the first born of Pharaoh who sat on his throne, to the cattle. The Church s many theologians in the Early Church, Medieval Church, and Modern Church addressed this particular passage. Between these centuries there was a tendency between two extremes, one being a figurative interpretation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thomas Aquinus would agree that it really was God who killed the firstborn of Egypt based on an argument made in his Summa Theologica. While not directly referencing to the passage, he argues that although it may seem in certain Scripture passages God acts or orders others to act in a way contrary to virtue, He does not because that would be against His nature. In fact Thomas establishes the justness of God taking a life because He is the author of life and death. Therefore, to take the passage literally would not be regarded as unjust or contrary to God s nature, because life was a gift given to man in the first place, not a right that we

I chose a mule as the symbol, because stereotypically they are stubborn, and have been called that for centuries, for their denial to do something, that they don t want to do. Although Clary is, selfless, loving, and artistic, she also has an unfavorable trait, stubbornness. This trait comes from the fact that whenever she puts her mind into something (usually trying to help someone), she won t change it. An example of her being stubborn is: When she pushed Jace off the demon (who was impersonating a boy), Stupid little mundie, Isabelle said between her teeth You could have gotten Jace killed (pg 14), she was so focused on saving the boy (who is actually a demon) she didn t realize what she was actually doing. Stubbornness is Clary s biggest flaw, she gets so focused on something, that she is oblivious of the
