• ISO 45001 requires Organisation to develop process for investigation
and report of all found nonconformities and OH&S incidents in order

development and helps to ensure effectiveness

ISO 45001
There are many differences, but the main change is that ISO 45001

business environment while OHSAS 18001 was focused on managing

• It is more prudent and more efficient to manage “how” you interact with the
environment than to manage “what” you have done to the environment
• An EMS is built around identifying, prioritizing, controlling, and improving
upon, those elements of the organization that interact with the environment
For example; it is better to know that waste water discharges may impact the
environment, and therefore manage the effluent quality than it is to wait for the
fish kill and try to manage the crisis.
