populace is abandoned of the canal water, located on the higher elevation than the canal
itself. There are no measuresof lifting water to the height so as to provide the people
residing at the higher elevation with the water for irrigation and general purposes.
Hydraulic ram is the perfect solution for such problem, this type of pump doesnt utilse
electricity or some other sort of energy.

 Stabilization of Lateritic Soil by using Quarry Dust-The availability of good soil for
road stabilization is increased day by day due to overuse of good soils results in depletion
in a source of good soil. The quarry dust which is a waste product from aggregate
production could replace some proportion of soil. In this study Quarry dust has been
selected as a soil stabilizer. In this project laboratory tests have been conducted on soil
with various percentage of quarry dust and compare the results with the results on
lateritic soil without any stabilizer. Therefore by using this technique we can decrease the
scarcity of lateritic soil in Konkan region along with the use of waste material that is
Quarry Dust.
 Comparison and Efficiency Evaluation Of Paver Block by Using Plastic Waste- The
aim of this project is to replace cement with plastic waste in paver block as a binding
agent and to reduce the cost of paver block when compared to that of conventional
concrete paver block. In this project plastic waste bottles of Type I Polyethylene
Terephthalate (PET) are mixed with different materials such as river sand, coarse
sggrgate, marble waste, bottom ash, coconut shell and steel fibre for casting of paver
block. Laboratory tests are performed and results are compared.
 Design of Water Supply System (Using EPANET) and Water Treatment Plant for
Kulwandi (Shindewadi) village with cost estimation of entire scheme-The main
purpose of this project was to design the water treatment plant and water distribution
network. This project focuses primarily on the assessments carried out in the
field, observation notes and household survey and discussion with villagers. Results
shows that the designed schemes is technically sustainable and able to delivered good
quality of water to the users. Thus it can be concluded that designed water supply system
if installed in future will provide good quality drinking water to the people.
 Estimation and Design of Farm Building for Vertical Farm System and study of
Crop Production in Farm Buildings - The idea of this project is to increase the
production of crop in a limited given area. On the other hand techniques to grow in the
farm structure as well as in our local region are studied .Also the minimum total cost
required to build that structure and to maintain its life with respect to other studied
project is done.
 Utilization of Waste Plastic Bottles for Constructing Partition Wall- This project has
used plastic waste bottles of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) and waste steel bars for
constructing partition walls and compare it with traditional materials and compare with
the environmental and economical conditions. So that we can have a step towards further
22
CiviLions, News Letter, Civil Engineering, GIT Volume1- Issue.2 June 2019
detailed information about these materials and thus be able to implement on field which
will definitely improve the level of construction.
 Investigation on Utilization of Sugarcane Fibre on Soil Samples-In this project the
effect of sugarcane bagasse fibres on strength properties of soil sample have been
investigated. This study was oriented towards improving the strenght of soil by using
locally available agricultural fibres to reduce the construction cost.
 The Use of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid in Concrete- The Cashew Nut Shell is actually a
waste material and readily available. Extraction of Resin from Cashew Nut Shell and
used in concrete as plasticizer. A Bond between CNSL resin and concrete is checked.
Cubes are tested with different proportions of CNSL resin to check the actual strength.
Threfore by using CNSL resin we can reduce the cost of construction and it also posses
anti corrosion property.
 Reinforced Roofing Sheet Using Fishnet- A possible method by using fishnet which is
made up of nylon fibre in Glass wool fibre sheet. In preliminary investigation mechanical
properties, physical properties containing nylon fibre of fishnet are evaluated. In study
Nylon fibres of fishnet are used as reinforcement. Addition of Nylon fibre is laid to
decrease in compressive strength. On the other hand addition of plastic fibre improves the
properties of roofing sheet like flexural strength, resistant to effect of sudden impact and
splitting load of corrugation.
 Zero Wastage of Steel Reinforcement- This project shows a method of reducing waste
from the cutting. The study is divided into two steps. The first step of project is to prepare
bar bending schedule and percentage of waste caused by cutting steel. The next stage of
project is calculation of uncut steel quantity and compare that quantities. By using the
exact dimensions of steel bars we can effectively construct the building as well as we
save the wastage of that cutting steel.
 Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregate By Glass Powder in Concrete- The main aim
of this project is to present the results of experimental investigations on strength of
concrete made with waste glass powder. The test results indicate that it is possible to
manufacture concrete containing glass powder with characteristics similar to those of
natural sand aggregate concrete.
 Assessment of Jalyukta Shivar Work for ‘Gane’Village-The aim of this project to
understand the benefits of JSA program towards farmers and providing suggestions for
improvement. Field visits, feedback from the farmers is taken. The water budget for the
village is prepared . Collected data were used to prepare Digital Elevation model by using

QGIS software. The final report includes the comparative analysis of the collected reports
and field observations. The important aspect of the report is farmers interview as it gives
the idea about impact of work on villagers.
 Structural Audit of RCC Structure and Study of its Repairs and Rehabilitation-In
this project work, an attempt has made to carry out Structural Audit of Overhead tank in
college campus. Various significant tests are carried out on the buildings and remedial
measures are suggested for improvement.
 Upgradation of Water Supply Scheme for Village Murde( Part-I)-This report
demonstrates the development of water supply scheme using advanced equipments and
various software's for analysis and representation of geographical features in village area
to help and improve the availability of water. Survey is carried out using total station and
other required instruments and EPANET is used for the further analysis.
 Use of Plastic as A Anti- Corrosive Agent in Metal Pipes-This project has made a new
technique of decomposition of plastic and also tried for making hollow pipes rust free
from inner surface only as outer surface can be protected by giving oil paint. Increase in
the strength of hollow metal pipes by 33% by filling the melted plastic and these filled
pipes can be used for making small structures like tables, stool and benches.
 Agro-Industrial and Domestic Waste Water Treatment by using UASB Reactor-
This project is an Environmental Solution on the Problems of Waste Water and other
pollution problems. The objective of this project is to reduce the COD, BOD, minimize
sludge and provide eco- friendliness to the system. This system is based on the anaerobic
application. The present work is done on a laboratory scale UASB reactor treating

This study was oriented towards improving the strenght of soil by using locally available agricultural fibres to reduce the construction cost.  The Use of Cashew Nut Shell Liquid in Concrete- The Cashew Nut Shell is actually a waste material and readily available. Extraction of Resin from Cashew Nut Shell and used in concrete as plasticizer. A Bond between CNSL resin and concrete is checked. Cubes are tested with different proportions of CNSL resin to check the actual strength. Threfore by using CNSL resin we can reduce the cost of construction and it also posses anti corrosion property.  Reinforced Roofing Sheet Using Fishnet- A possible method by using fishnet which is made up of nylon fibre in Glass wool fibre sheet. In preliminary investigation mechanical properties, physical properties containing nylon fibre of fishnet are evaluated. In study Nylon fibres of fishnet are used as reinforcement. Addition of Nylon fibre is laid to decrease in compressive strength. On the other hand addition of plastic fibre improves the properties of roofing sheet like flexural strength, resistant to effect of sudden impact and splitting load of corrugation.  Zero Wastage of Steel Reinforcement- This project shows a method of reducing waste from the cutting. The study is divided into two steps. The first step of project is to prepare bar bending schedule and percentage of waste caused by cutting steel. The next stage of project is calculation of uncut steel quantity and compare that quantities. By using the exact dimensions of steel bars we can effectively construct the building as well as we save the wastage of that cutting steel.  Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregate By Glass Powder in Concrete- The main aim of this project is to present the results of experimental investigations on strength of concrete made with waste glass powder.
