2. Similar to groups available for ledger accounts, individual stock items
can be classified under stock groups. Classification is done based on some
common begaviour. Grouping would enable easy location and reporting of stock
items in statements. For example, items of a particular brand can be grouped
together, so that, the user can get inventory details of all items of that brand. Sub-
groups can be created under stock group to any depth. However, it may be noted
that, it is not necessary to group stock items.

Stock Groups can be created both in single and multiple
creation modes which are as follows:
From Gateway of Tally Select Inventory Info. Select Stock
Groups and select Create under ‘Single Stock Group’ or ‘Multiple Stock
Creation’. The Stock Group Creation screen appears.

3. 1. Name
In the Name field, enter the name of the stock group. The user can give stock group
names.
2. Alias
In the Alias field, enter the other name which the user would like to assign to this
stock group.
3. Under
In the Under field, the user can select the stock group under which the current group
will be created from the List of Groups pop-up menu.
If a stock group is being created for the first time, it can be classified as Primary only.
4. Can Quantities of items be ADDED ?
The last field is to be answered either in ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.
4. II. Display of Stock Groups
Stock Groups can be displayed both in single and multiple display modes
which are as follows
From Gateway of Tally select Inventory Info. Select Stock Groups and Select
Display under ‘Single Stock Group’ or ‘Multiple Stock Group’.
From the List of Groups pop-up menu, the user can either select an
‘Individual Stock Group’ or select All Items.
III. Alteration of Stock Groups
The path to alter stock groups is the same as that of stock group display.
However, in the alteration mode, the user are allowed to alter stock group details. After
making necessary changes, the user can use the Ctrl+A key to save changes without
confirmation. Additional buttons are available in the buttons bar in the ‘Multiple Stock
Group Alteration’.
IV. Deletion of Stock Groups
Stock groups can be deleted only in single alteration mode. To delete a stock
group, use the Alt + D key in single alteration mode and accept the Delete ? Yes or No
sub-screen.
