People living in or near forests depend on forest resources for their livelihoods and needs. Local people use resources like firewood, small timber, and thatch from forests. However, forests have also been converted for monoculture plantations of trees like pine, teak, and eucalyptus to supply industries, though this destroys biodiversity. While such plantations provide resources and revenue, overconsumption of forest products may not be sustainable in the long run.

• The local people need large quantities of firewood ,small timber
• ,thatch etc . are taken form the forests area . Forest have been
• converted to monocultures of pine , teak or eucalyptus . In order to
• plant these trees , huge areas are first cleared of all vegetation . This
• destroys a large amount of biodiversity in the area.Such plantations
• are useful for industries to acess specific products and are an
• important source of revenue for the forest department.
