Hm Personal Journal
Wilson. Session 1. Journal
I have been walking in the Lord for the past 13 years of my life. In that time there have been many
different experiences HE has led me through and given me. There have been numerous times in my
life in which I could surely see HIS hand. However, my journey to attend college has been unique
and completely ordered by HIM.
When I was younger everyone expected that I would be the first in the family to go to college. I did
not go to college because in my last year of high school I got pregnant with my daughter and wanted
to focus on being the best mom I could. Not only was I not the first to go to college but I am the
only one of my siblings to not graduate from college with a bachelor's degree. However, I am the
only one to graduate from bible college and become an ordained
minister. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I returned to school at the Community College of Aurora in 1996 after giving birth to my daughter. I

The Concept Of Memory In The Film Finding Dory
Introduction Cognitive development is important in the field of Child development because it helps
us understand behavior. Of particular importance in this paper in this paper is memory and how it
affects behavior. We will explore short–term memory and how it is associated to retrograde amnesia.
We will also explore how emotions affect memory by either enhancing it. We will then explore how
these concepts apply by putting them in the context of real life. In particular, the paper will discuss
how the film Finding Dory has employed the concept of memory in its plot. The argument supported
here is that emotions boost memory. Short–Term Memory From the first line of the movie, "Hi, my
name is Dory, and I suffer from short–term memory loss". It's clear that The animated film would
depict a very important message about individuals who suffer from this disability and how society
and loved ones react to the symptoms. The film begins with Dory having a flashback about how she
loves to explore life under the sea despite her overprotective parents. Throughout the film, Dory
shares her disability with everyone she meets and always makes sure to apologize for her memory
loss. When she starts her journey she encounters several fish friends who are unable to help her
because Dory is unable to remember any recent memories. By the end of the film, she is no longer
having to apologize because she realizes that everyone accepts her exactly how she is, in contrast,
her friends never give up

The Allied battleship HMS Sneezy (Bubonic Plague) has picked up a massive load of allies, and will

Every year a new producer is selected to produce the show and keep all the different functions on
task and meeting the targeted deadlines. Each year the producer must develop their own work
schedule will all tasks included that are required to meet the deadline of opening night. Due to the
lack of formal organization chart that outlines authority, control and report creates challenges as well
open communication among all functions is critical to ensure deadlines are being met. Given the
timeframe as to when budget is approved and the producer can proceed with tasks everything needs
to run smoothly and on–time. There isn't much room to delay the start of tasks especially along the
critical paths to meet the opening night. Opening night is critical for the operetta as how it is
performed will lead to positive feedback in newspapers and talk around campus. Based on how it
goes will lead to more ticket sales for the following performances. With a majority of the tasks being
completed by volunteers, who have other obligations, results in little ability to push them for extra
time to catch up on tasks which are delayed. As well can't jeopardize the quality of the performance
or sets due to pushing the volunteers or putting the wrong people into roles they can't do. Poor
quality does not fit with what the operetta wants to showcase and could lead to poorer ticket sales.
The USC sets the budget each year for the production of the operetta and

History Of The Trans-HMS Lunatic Asylum
The Trans–Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, located in Weston, West Virginia, is a 160 year old haunted
site that many people visit each year (Trans). Even though the asylum is now abandoned, tours of
the building are something people make plans to take. People assume the haunting of the Asylum
was because of the restless souls of the patients that lived and died there. This assumption has not
been verified. Sources can say that it is definitely haunted by many different ghosts such as the
lonely spirit of a young girl named Lily. Supposedly, she wanders the halls of the asylum, looking
for a playmate. Lily has her own room in the asylum on its first floor. She apparently lived in the
home her whole life, and was even born there. Lily passed at

"Hi, I'm Dory! I suffer from short term m–m–memory loss" (Stanton and MacLane, 2016). These
are the first words spoken by the title character of the Disney–Pixar film Finding Dory. Dory is a
friendly, outgoing blue tang, but she suffers from anterograde amnesia. She has difficulty retaining
new information in her short term memory. When she is first introduced in the 2003 film Finding
Nemo, she immediately forgets what she is doing, who she is talking to, and what she was talking
about. She can hold most of the new information for a few seconds, but as soon as there is a lull in
conversation or something distracts her from what she is doing, she becomes confused and
sometimes disoriented. She has difficulty remembering names, directions, ... Show more content on

They had concerns about Dory's survival ability and did their best to prepare her for life. They laid
out seashells in a path to their home, taught her songs about survival, and made her rehearse her
catchphrase "I suffer from short–term memory loss," all in an effort to help her stay safe. Despite
their precautions, Dory's mother and father still feared for her future. One scene showed them
talking late at night, with her mother in tears, asking, "Do you think she's... that she can make it on
her own?" (Stanton and MacLane, 2016). As if to prove her mother's point, while attempting to
bring a purple shell to her parents, Dory is swept away by the undertow and taken out to sea. Her
parents must then rely on the hope that their teaching and rehearsing survival mechanisms would be
enough to keep her alive until they can be reunited. They spend the next several years building a
new home with shell paths to wait for her. Dr. Baxendale pointed out, "the frustration of the fish
around her with her constant repetition accurately reflects the feelings of people who live with
amnesic patients" (BBC, 2004). Her parents loved her, but trying to take care of an amnesic child is
stressful, as the film showed. Jenny and Charlie chose to hope that their daughter would be safe and

Hm Empire Research Paper
There are many theories imposing the possible conceptions regarding why the Khmer Empire
suddenly declined around 1431. The following report will discuss some of the major factors leading
to the collapse of the Khmer Empire. Architectural Miscalculations Evidence indicates that
engineers decided to change the course of the Siem Reap River by constructing a dam. The goal of
the dam was to direct river water toward a newly built reservoir. But the engineers miscalculated
and built the dam too shallow. The effect of this was that when monsoons arrived the dam turned
into a massive spillway. Water began flowing over the top of the dam into abandoned canals,
causing catastrophic damage to other parts of the system. Once the dam was fully breached ... Show

Thais first appear in Khmer records as hired soldiers for the empire, and their numbers increased as
they began to establish themselves as settlers in the community. Eventually the Thai created their
own small kingdoms, the most important of them in the western side of the empire. As these
kingdoms grew in power, they initiated several attacks predominantly on the Empire's main
territories. In order to protect the empire, the Angkor had to direct portion of its manpower to secure
strong armed forces, which in turn, deprived itself from giving good maintenance to other important
parts of the society. The Thai eventually used a road built by Jayavarman VII to march from the
Chaophaya River basin through Phnomrung (in Burirum of modern Thailand) and then through
Aranyapathet to attack the weakened Angkor and finally defeated the extremely weakened empire in
1431. In conclusion, scientists have not come to a final deduction on the reasoning behind the
sudden collapse of the Khmer Empire. Although, the evidence shown suggests that it was
predominantly due to hydraulic mishaps that affected many other aspects of the empire's prosperity

1. Productivity of the crew would be below standard. I believe for the productivity to be below
standard because they were sent to this crew because of their lack of work. Just because they have
been assigned to another crew, does not mean that they will begin to work well right away. When
compared to the Equity Theory, I believe there to be positive inequity for the three men assigned to
the new group. For being assigned to the group due to lack of work, it is unfair to have a higher pay
grade than those who have been in the company for a longer period of time and who are doing their
job correctly. This may cause issues with subprofessionals being motivated to work to their full ...

The crewmen who were assigned to this group are probably not happy with their reassignment, so at
least in the beginning things may be slow.
5. Some subgroups will have accepted the informal standards about crew behavior while others will
not. The crewmen who have been with the company for a longer period of time may have grown
accustomed to the current standards. The new crewmen on the other hand may disagree with the
standards and try to implement new ones. Since Kilkenny management considered the leader and
assistant leader to be excellent foresters and teachers, I believe they will implement new strategies
which will better benefit the crew as a whole.
Part II
My predictions in part I were fairly accurate to the information provided in part II. The existing
crewmen talked amongst one another at lunch time and the new crewmen isolated themselves from
the group. Additional information that would have helped with predictive accuracy could have
included information about the three new professionals past performance in other groups
specifically. A description could have included information about the amount of work done
compared to fellow co–workers. Also, if the professionals have been reassigned in the past could
have been added.

Essay on 50 First Dates Psychology Analysis
50 First Dates
In the movie 50 First Dates one of the main characters suffers from the severe condition of
anterograde amnesia. The movie is about Henry Roth who is a wildlife veterinarian in Hawaii,
meeting Lucy Whitmore a woman who has a short–term memory loss from an auto accident a year
earlier. Henry meets Lucy at a local cafe and takes her out on a date. Henry falls in love with Lucy,
but there is one problem when she awakens in the morning, she can't remember him or anything that
happened that day. Henry must devise a plan to meet Lucy everyday and try to get her to fall in love
with him again and again. Lucy Whitmore is the character with anterograde amnesia. Anterograde

father and brother repaint the barn which she paints everyday, watch The Sixth Sense, and provide
her with a copy of the same paper. Her brother and dad spend most all of their time keeping Lucy
from the truth. Her lack of short term memory and possession of long term memories turn her
brother and fathers lives' into an everyday replay. One time after Henry and Lucy break up he visits
Lucy and sees all of her paintings. Obviously when he comes by she doesn't recognize him except
that he looks like the man she has been painting. All her recent paintings include Henry in them.
That means Henry has helped her some what retain some of her short term memories. Lucy's disease
is a very life changing and sad thing to happen to anybody. When somebody possesses this and they
don't know they have it, they can't live a real life. Also the people in their lives have a big burden
and a tough task to live with. Henry finally finds a solution in the end to help with Lucy's situation.
He makes a tape about their life and how they are in love and everyday she wakes up and watches it
and learns about her accident. By doing this she is almost able to live a normal life just like

Memory And Memory : The Three Types Of Memory
Three Types of Memory Aisha Smaller P.5 10–24–17
What Are The Three Types of Memory?
What are the three types of memory? The three types of memory are the following; short term
memory, long term memory, and sensory memory. Before I go into the three types of memory, let's
talk about one very important vocab word. The vocab word is the word memory. Memory refers to
the how much information we can store and manipulate from our memory to our processing center,
or working memory. Now that we understand the term memory, let's talk about each of the three
types of memory in detail.
First, sensory memory. What is sensory memory? According to the textbook, in the glossary, it
defines sensory memory as, "the immediate, initial recording of ... Show more content on

Second, short term memory. What is short term memory? According to the textbook, short term
memory is defined as the working memory, and in the glossary, it says; "memory that holds
information briefly before it is stored and forgotten" (Chapter 7 Memory. and In Holt Psychology;
Principles in Practice (pp. 161–166)]. What this means is that short term memory is the second step
before long term memory. You use short term memory every day. For example, when you need to
call someone and you have the phone number in your mind, it is in your short term memory. You
probably need to write it down before the thought, or the phone number, disappears or fades from
your short term memory. But, short term memory has its drawbacks. When you study for a test, the
information will probably be transferred to your short term memory. When you're done taking the
test, the study information will disappear, because you don't need the information for the test, and
plus, it's in your short term memory Sensory memory also branches off into iconic and echoic
memory, which are the following; ionic memory is the buffer for when incoming visual information
is stored as a picture or icon. Echoic memory stores sound.
What happens in short term memory? Well, information in this stage of memory fades after a few
seconds, so here is the process: When information goes into short term memory, it's stored, but the
brain can only hold that information for 20–30 seconds at a time.

How To Reinvent HMS Sandwich
If I could reinvent the HMS curriculum, I would include many different classes that would benefit
the students for their future. The two new classes I would introduce to HMS are public speaking and
digital citizenship class. To start, I would choose to provide a public speaking class because it is a
skill many jobs require. During class time, the students will do many fun, interactive activities
everyday. For the first couple of minutes, the students can receive informational tips on speaking.
Then, they could practice those skills in exercises. Then once every couple months, a public speaker
can come in and personally teach the students. Many jobs require superb public speaking skills, so it
is logical to provide information to the youth

an extraterrestrial species–or so they thought. The chart was drawn by a man who claimed he had

the random scrawling of an insane man.
Finally, he arrived. As soon as he entered the building, he saw the "Out of Order" sign on the

The alternatives to this case are limited since all the aspects of the project are sequential and time
sensitive. I believe the previous project manager from the year before would be suitable since they
have had the experience before but this is not an option of course. I believe a project process matrix
and breakdown of assigned work is the crucial however management should be open to alternatives
within the project goals, for example, making the a less complex stage set in favour of more
sophisticated lighting depending on time and budget. The project management tools is essentially
the most important part of the project and keeps everyone on the same page and allows everyone to
work together to reach the main goal at a certain point in time using the allotted time given for each
task in the project sequence. Exhaustion amongst students may occur if student's exam and course
schedules and personal time is not accounted for.

A New Hippocampal Modulation Paradigm ( Hm Paradigm, Fig
To test this hypothesis, we measured how well people remembered experiences near in time to their
efforts to retrieve or suppress an unrelated memory. To induce retrieval and suppression, we adapted
the Think/No–Think (TNT) procedure used to study how people control unwanted memories,
yielding a new hippocampal modulation paradigm (HM Paradigm, Fig. 1). In the TNT procedure,
people perform trials requiring them to attend to a reminder of a past event; for each reminder, they
are cued to retrieve the associated memory (Think trials), or to suppress its retrieval (No–Think
trials). Suppressing retrieval in response to a strong reminder reduces blood–oxygen–level
dependent activation in the hippocampus and impairs retention of the suppressed memory5–11.
These reductions originate from inhibitory control processes supported by the dorsolateral prefrontal
cortex6–11. Retrieving memories, in contrast, increases hippocampal activity12 and often facilitates
later recall13. Thus, hippocampal activity can be modulated according to task goals, though practice
at suppressing retrieval is often necessary to achieve hippocampal reductions6. A key assumption of
the present work is that this modulation does not target particular memories, which may be a
person's goal, but rather reflects a broadly targeted suppression (hereinafter, 'systemic suppression')
of regional activity in the hippocampus that generally disrupts other memory functions supported by
this region. For instance, beyond

In addition, the software doesn't produce enough value for the artist segment. Suppose, HMI
promotes specifically to this group and the members show enough enthusiasm resulting in
satisfactory initial penetration. Once, the initial curiosity about the quality of her own performance
is satisfied the artist won't find any alternative use of the report. If the report says their song has
enough potential to be a great hit, that conclusion does little for them because the record labels are
not likely to acknowledge the credibility of the HMI report. All exhibits are restricted to the US
Market. Exhibit 1: Why USA is the best choice of geography? The rationale behind the choice is
obvious when we consider that it has the highest music market in the world and is [(12609 – 5001) /

the top 5 music markets, USA looks significantly higher (for 2002): Exhibit 2: Cost savings to

Memento : The Development Of Memory And Short-Term Memory
Memories are priceless facets of the human mind. They make humans who they are, molding them
into unique beings. The development of memories over time is critical to the growth and assembly
of personality; as memories dictate, both directly and indirectly, how humans view the world around
them as well as how they behave within it. What if one could not create or retain new memories?
What if one could not access past memories? This is the case with people who suffer from
anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia respectively. Cognitive Science professor, Dr. Jim
Davies imparted an understanding of these disorders through his screening of Christopher Nolan's
film Memento. Neurologist Oliver Sacks, author of the book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a
Hat and Other Clinical Tales aids in further establishing the nature of these disorders through
detailed accounts of numerous patients who suffered from them.
In order to truly understand anterograde and retrograde amnesia, one must first understand the
concepts of short–term memory and long–term memory, the former being mainly affected and as a
result transferring the effects onto the latter. Cognition was defined by Davies in class as being the
manipulation, storage, and processing of representations. These representations are stored in
memory which is divided into different types. Short–term memory has little capacity. It stores
information (representations) for a temporary period of time, although some but not all

positive observation was the increase of the beverage revenue from $566,230 in 2016 to $637,400 in

Introduction. Anterograde Amnesia Is The Inability To Form
Introduction
Anterograde amnesia is the inability to form new memories, while keeping old memories intact.
People who suffer from this impairment, are unable to encode new memories into long–term
memory but are able to keep them in short term. The movie Fifty First Dates portrays this type of
amnesia accurately and inaccurately. The main protagonists of Fifty First Dates are Lucy, played by
Drew Barrymore, and Henry, played by Adam Sandler. Lucy suffers from anterograde amnesia due
to brain damage. For the most part, the movie is accurate to the impairment and is almost exactly the
same as the impairment patients suffer from.

Procedural memory is usually memories associated with muscle memory where her body
remembers it even if she does not. This is also true to the type of amnesia. She even dreams about
Adam Sandler's character even though she is not sure how she knows him. Somehow, her
encounters with him are encoded even though she doesn't remember them explicitly.
A Real Life Example: FL and Similarities from the Movie
What is most interesting is that the movie seems to be based off of a real incident. Smith et. al
(2010) wrote about a special case of a patient named FL. She was in a car accident in 2005 and
reported difficulty retaining information from one day to the next. She describes her memory as
unaffected over the course of the day but when she falls asleep, the memory for each day disappears.
FL also, is able to recall things from before her accident. Lucy, a fictional character created for a
movie, shares many things in common with FL, thus showing that the film is accurate to the
disorder. It also is interesting to know that FL like Lucy was somehow able to remember
something's. According to Smith et. al (2010), "For some tests, unbeknownst to FL, material learned
on the previous day was intermixed with material learned on the same day as the test." In other
words, FL sometimes mixed in previously learned material that she did not recall learning due to her
impairment with material that she learned that day. This idea of intermixing material was also

"The captain of the ship often thought that he knew nothing about the future – other than that his
ship and Erebus would never again steam or sail – but then he reminded himself of one certainty:

The discovery team has gathered images of the ship and compared it to the 1800's builders plans.
The 1800's builders plans match key parts of the HMS Terror. Scientists examined a heavy rope
running through a hole in the ship's deck. This suggests that an anchor may have been used before
the ship sank. That raises the question of whether sailors returned to the ship after she was
abandoned in a desperate attempt to escape. These images could be a turning point for scientists in
understanding the HMS Terror's history. Overall this discovery of the HMS Terror changes history.
This discovery changes history. With the location and state of the wreck it appears that the HMS
Terror was closed down by the crew. The crew then re–boarded the HMS Erebus and sailed south
where they met their end. Scientists earlier found the Erebus in just 11 meters of ocean. The
scientists then noticed that sea ice had torn a hole in the ship. The HMS Terror is a stupendous and
interesting ship that will be talked about for a long time. It will definitely change

Case Study Of Henry Molaison, A Man With Global Amnesia
Case 1 tells the story of Henry Molaison (HM), a man with no memory. He lost his memory due to
the operation of suctioned out the hippocampus to treat his epileptic seizures. At that time, it was not
known yet that the hippocampus was essential for making memories. After operation, his seizures
were significantly reduced, but Henry suffered a global amnesia. Owen et al. (2007) describes
patients with global amnesia as perceptive and attentive but with a total loss of short–term memory
and some trouble accessing memories of the recent past. Henry could not learn new things as he
quickly forgot everything that he had learned. He could learn at a subconscious level only. Henry

Memory is the process involved in retaining, retrieving and using information about stimuli, images,
events, ideas and skills after the original information is no longer present. We can relate this case
with what we learn in psychology. Short term memory holds information from 15 until 30 seconds
whereas long term memory holds information for years. Short–term memory (STM) is the system
that is involved in storing small amount of information for a brief period of time while long–term
memory (LTM) is the system that is responsible for storing information for long periods of time and
recall information about past events in lives and knowledge learned.
Without the hippocampus, the information from the short–term memory (STM) cannot be stored in
long term memory (LTM). The hippocampus is a very important part of the human brain to store our
memories. If we lost it, we will lose all our conscious memories. From Henry's case, it also
discovered that there are multiple memory storage areas located at different parts of the brain while
the hippocampus is important to consolidate short–term memory to long–term memory. The removal
of hippocampus caused Henry to suffer until he died as he lost the ability to make new conscious

Professional Code of Ethics for HIM Staff The Code of Ethics for the Health Information
Management team is a very serious topic that should never be taken lightly. If your staff is not

all heard the saying that, some rules are meant to be broken, but be forewarned...these are not the

straightforward and the HIM Staff should have no issues in heading in the right direction with these

The Prison System Is Not Functioning Well
It has long been apparent that the UK's current prison system is not functioning well. Although the
HM Prison Service outline their purpose as 'we keep those sentenced to prison in custody, helping
them lead law–abiding and useful lives, both while they are in prison and after they are released'
(Gov.uk, 2016), currently nearly half of all prisoners go on to re–offend within a year, which costs
society £15 billion a year (Ministry of Justice, 2016). In addition, last summer, the Chief Inspector
of Prisons warned that jails in England and Wales were in their worst state for a decade (HM Chief
Inspector of Prisons for England and Wales, 2015) with sharp rises in inmate violence, increasing
drug use, staff shortages and squalid conditions. Therefore there is no doubt that the prison system is
in urgent need of reform.
Last month, Elizabeth Truss outlined planned reforms to the prison system in a government
proposal, 'Prison Security and Reform' she labelled 'the blueprint for the biggest overhaul of our
prisons in a generation". She outlined plans for a governor–led approach, in which prison governors
will have the power to opt out of national contracts, and make their own resource allocation
decisions. Six 'reform' prisons with these features are already being trialled around the country, but it
is too early to judge their impact. (Ministry of Justice, 2016). Autonomy is expected to empower
staff, improve standards and lead to a reduction in reoffending. The idea came from

Reflection Of Master And Commander
Master and Commander, produced in 2003 is about the Napoleonic Wars. Although not based on a
true story, Master and Commander shows a historically accurate depiction of life on a warship. The
film is set in the Atlantic Ocean, headed towards the Pacific. After receiving orders to "burn, sink, or
take" the Acheron, the HMS Surprise, a British warship takes heavy fire from the armed French
ship. After the a long run of the Ships evading each other, the HMS Surprise finally takes over the
Acheron. Throughout the duration of this film, many Midshipman are portrayed doing their daily
duties, during a time of war. The Midshipman vary in age and backgrounds, but are all loyal to their
captain. While under fire, many of the midshipmen were tested in strength, perseverance, the ability
to lead and follow directions in intense situations. Having only been a Midshipman for a semester, I
only relate to the younger, inexperienced Midshipman. With the many technological advances and
improvements to the rules and regulations, there is much that I may never relate to because if the

adjust to their high stressed surroundings and learn to make best possible decisions quickly. As a

1. Barbara's main reason is that she felt that the HIM department should not be excluded from
participating in receiving the Electronic Health Record system since many HIM positions would use
the EHR system to see a patient's medical information. At the beginning of the meeting, she stated
that she had previously worked with EHR systems at other hospitals, and she wanted to see the
specs of auditing and retrieving capabilities. She also mentioned that the EHR does not meet the
HIM requirements of this RFP, and therefore the RFP had to be cancelled. Their plan was to rewrite
the RFP so it could meet the HIM standards. 2. HIM must have been excluded from the review

CIO believed that information systems should only be involved since they are the ones who work

Anterograde Amnesia In The Movie Memento
Imagine living your life having no recollection of the past 20 seconds of anything that happens to
you. Constantly feening for a way to remember, knowing that no matter how hard you try to
remember a piece of something will always be forgotten. This is the case of a man named Leonard
Shelby, an insurance claims investigator who lives with his wife who is diabetic in the movie
Memento. This movie depicts a life that some may live every day; a life that struggles to remember
certain aspects of it. In this psychological thriller, the disorder presented through the main character
Leonard is called Anterograde Amnesia, better known as short–term memory. This is a disorder in
which short term memories are often forgotten long before they ever have the ability to become long
term memories. This is caused by the brain being affected by some sort of trauma or accident that
affects the hippocampus of the brain making it very hard from that point on to remember anything
other than the long–term memories that were set in your brain before any trauma. During a break in
into his home Leonard was struck by a gun to the side of his head by two masked criminals which
caused his short–term memory loss. Also during the incident, his wife was raped and killed by them.
Leonard kills one of the criminals, but the other gets away with minimal damage. This is the last
event that Leonard can fully remember thus fueling his need for revenge on whoever killed his wife.
This fuel is what leads him

Memento Movie Analysis
Memento Movie is a cast directed by Christopher Nolan. The movie is a Psychological thriller that
narrates the events that have driven the cause of the protagonist called Leonard Shelby to murder
Teddy. The movie has received serious acclaim for its special time sequence, which can be attributed
to both its chronicle and reversed order. The formation of the film serves two purposes, to imitate
the process of human recollection, and to allow the audience to understand the nature of anterograde
amnesia, a disease Leonard Shelby ails from.
According to Buckland, the film is very difficult to fallow and it requires to be watched at least
twice to fully comprehend all the director Christopher Nolan who doubles as an actor is trying to
pass across (2009). Leonard Shelby is suffering from Anterograde Amnesia a disability which makes
it technical for him to comprehend new memories beyond the victimization before his trauma. In the
bid to cope with his Amnesia, he relates to a client has had while he was serving as an insurance
agent. The client goes by the name Sammy Jenkins and he has the same experience of suffering
from the same amnesia as Leonard. Initially, Leonard worked on Sammy's case while attempting to
prove that unlike his case, Sammy was mentally ill. Leonard narrates this story to everyone in the
attempt to explain his amnesia. Leonard's amnesia came about during an incidence when he was
struck in the head while trying to save his own wife, after two assailants invaded

Accurate Timekeeping At Sea
In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries clock making was a vital European technology, and
London was at its cutting edge. As a maritime nation, the British were concerned with one problem
in particular: they could make clocks that kept very good time as long as they stayed perfectly still
but not when they were shaken about, and particularly not on board a rolling ship. If you wanted to
sail, it was impossible to keep a precise record of time. And at sea, if you can't tell the time, you
don't how far east or west you are. It is relatively easy to calculate latitude – your distance north or
south of the equator – by measuring the height of the Sun above the horizon at noon; but this won't
let you calculate longitude – your position east or west.
The problem of accurate timekeeping at sea was finally fixed in the middle of the eighteenth century
by John Harrison. He invented a marine chronometer which could go on accurately telling the time
in spite of the changes in temperature and humidity and the constant movement of a ship. This made
it possible for ships anywhere to establish their longitude. Before a ship set sail, its chronometer
would be set to the local time in harbor – for the British this was usually Greenwich. You would
then compare the time at Greenwich with the time of noon on the ship, which you fixed by the Sun.
The difference between the two times gave you your longitude. For the twenty–four hours in the
day, every hour the Sun 'moves' across the sky that

Case Study Of HM Case
HM case is a case study of a person named Henry Molaison. He was run over by a cyclist when he
was nine years, and diagnosed with epilepsy afterwards. By age 27 the condition worsened, causing
him to undergo an experimental brain surgery under Henry Scoville.
'The removals extended posteriorly along the mesail surface of the temporal lobes for a distance of
approximately 8cm from the temporal tips and probably destroyed the anterior two–thirds of the
hippocampus and hippocampal gyrus bilaterally, as well as the uncus and amygdala (Scoville and
Milner 1957)'
Though the condition of epilepsy cured with the surgery, HM was diagnosed with 'Anterograde
Amnesia', a condition where a person faces loss of memory after a specific incident. The specific
incident in HM's case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
it was revealed that, the removal of parts of the Medial temporal lobe affect the conversion of short–
term memories in to long–term memories. Short term memory is unstable where as long term
memory is more stable. The action interrupted by the removal of these brain parts is the attention
and retrieval of event. (Advameg 2006)')
This explains why the patient H.M. could successfully engage in the activities including implicit
memory, which is un–conscious.
The study of Henry Molaison's brain impairment, lead to many very important findings about the
characteristics of human brain. In an experiment done by Brenda Milner to test his ability to acquire
visual motor skills, it was discovered that the brain of human beings, is the home to more than one
kind of memory.
'This demonstration provided the first hint that there was more than one kind of memory in the brain
and suggested that some kinds of memory (motor skills) must lie outside the medial temporal lobe
(Squire 2009)'
The fact that knowledge comprehended by the brain is of two categories, namely declarative
knowledge and procedural knowledge was also an outcome of the study of Henry's memory

Analysis Of 50 First Dates
The movie 50 First Dates is about a tragic head injury and its effects on memory that takes place in
Hawaii. In the movie, the main character, Lucy, experiences a terrible car accident that involved
hitting a tree and resulted in short–term memory loss. Lucy had her long–term memory and was able
to recall everything prior to the actual accident. However, Lucy was unable to retain and store new
memories after a night's sleep. Each morning Lucy would wake up and think it was Sunday, October
13th, her father's birthday. Lucy's father and brother worked hard each night in order to undo any
changes for the next day. This was the routine that happened daily until Henry Roth came along.
Henry Roth worked as a veterinarian at an aquarium until he could finish his boat that he wanted to

Dynamic Systems Approach: Effect of Prior Experience on Location Memory Throughout
Development
Mikaela S. Cuevas
University of California Davis
Abstract
A study by Smith, Thelen, and colleagues questioned Piaget's A–not –B errors which happens when
babies make errors when trying to remember where an object is hidden and revert to where they last
remember the object being not at the current location. Smith, Thelen, and colleagues believe it is
more of a dynamic systems approach, than an error of stage IV of Piaget's stages of cognitive
development which is titled the object concept. Smith and colleagues believe that the error in the
task mentioned above wasn 't specific to a certain developmental stage. Smith and colleagues ...

Following a ten second interruption, the child is permitted to hunt for the toy and naturally does so
correctly. After many hide and seek games for the same object at location A, it is buried at another
location–location B. Babies ages eight to ten months generally returned to search for the object at
location A when it had just been hidden at the new location. This error is defined by Piaget as stage
4 which is development of the object concept. This fault shows not only important progress made in
stage 4 of development but, also a problem in linking up object representation to the child's prior
knowledge of location. Psychologist have revealed many different explanations for this result.
Examples of this are in terms of the egocentric representation of space (e.g., Acredolo, 1985;
Bremner, 1978; Bremner&Bryant, 1977), the immaturity of the prefrontal cortex (e.g., Diamond,
1990a, 1990b; Diamond&Goldman–Rakic, 1989), and the fragility of object memory (e.g.,
Munakata, 1998; Munakata, McClelland, Johnson, &Siegler, 1997), and others. All of these studies
share the commonality that this error results in the baby's brain at a specific point in development.
Smith and colleagues find justification of the error through multiple processes that result in self
motivated actions, like reaching for an object at a familiar location throughout development; error is
not specific to a set time in

Hm Personal Journal

  • 1. Hm Personal Journal Wilson. Session 1. Journal I have been walking in the Lord for the past 13 years of my life. In that time there have been many different experiences HE has led me through and given me. There have been numerous times in my life in which I could surely see HIS hand. However, my journey to attend college has been unique and completely ordered by HIM. When I was younger everyone expected that I would be the first in the family to go to college. I did not go to college because in my last year of high school I got pregnant with my daughter and wanted to focus on being the best mom I could. Not only was I not the first to go to college but I am the only one of my siblings to not graduate from college with a bachelor's degree. However, I am the only one to graduate from bible college and become an ordained minister. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the process I managed to destroy my marriage and my hope. • 3. The Concept Of Memory In The Film Finding Dory Introduction Cognitive development is important in the field of Child development because it helps us understand behavior. Of particular importance in this paper in this paper is memory and how it affects behavior. We will explore short–term memory and how it is associated to retrograde amnesia. We will also explore how emotions affect memory by either enhancing it. We will then explore how these concepts apply by putting them in the context of real life. In particular, the paper will discuss how the film Finding Dory has employed the concept of memory in its plot. The argument supported here is that emotions boost memory. Short–Term Memory From the first line of the movie, "Hi, my name is Dory, and I suffer from short–term memory loss". It's clear that The animated film would depict a very important message about individuals who suffer from this disability and how society and loved ones react to the symptoms. The film begins with Dory having a flashback about how she loves to explore life under the sea despite her overprotective parents. Throughout the film, Dory shares her disability with everyone she meets and always makes sure to apologize for her memory loss. When she starts her journey she encounters several fish friends who are unable to help her because Dory is unable to remember any recent memories. By the end of the film, she is no longer having to apologize because she realizes that everyone accepts her exactly how she is, in contrast, her friends never give up ... Now HMS Sneezy is firing off missiles to destroy all the tanks (mucus from the nose,) once they are dead, they will place the allies on the beach. After that, they are then confronted by the Nazis, they destroy the Nazis ground force (macrophages) with minimal casualties. Every year a new producer is selected to produce the show and keep all the different functions on task and meeting the targeted deadlines. Each year the producer must develop their own work schedule will all tasks included that are required to meet the deadline of opening night. Due to the lack of formal organization chart that outlines authority, control and report creates challenges as well open communication among all functions is critical to ensure deadlines are being met. Given the timeframe as to when budget is approved and the producer can proceed with tasks everything needs to run smoothly and on–time. There isn't much room to delay the start of tasks especially along the critical paths to meet the opening night. Opening night is critical for the operetta as how it is performed will lead to positive feedback in newspapers and talk around campus. Based on how it goes will lead to more ticket sales for the following performances. With a majority of the tasks being completed by volunteers, who have other obligations, results in little ability to push them for extra time to catch up on tasks which are delayed. As well can't jeopardize the quality of the performance or sets due to pushing the volunteers or putting the wrong people into roles they can't do. Poor quality does not fit with what the operetta wants to showcase and could lead to poorer ticket sales. The USC sets the budget each year for the production of the operetta and ... • 11. History Of The Trans-HMS Lunatic Asylum The Trans–Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, located in Weston, West Virginia, is a 160 year old haunted site that many people visit each year (Trans). Even though the asylum is now abandoned, tours of the building are something people make plans to take. People assume the haunting of the Asylum was because of the restless souls of the patients that lived and died there. This assumption has not been verified. Sources can say that it is definitely haunted by many different ghosts such as the lonely spirit of a young girl named Lily. Supposedly, she wanders the halls of the asylum, looking for a playmate. Lily has her own room in the asylum on its first floor. She apparently lived in the home her whole life, and was even born there. Lily passed at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These are the first words spoken by the title character of the Disney–Pixar film Finding Dory. Dory is a friendly, outgoing blue tang, but she suffers from anterograde amnesia. She has difficulty retaining new information in her short term memory. When she is first introduced in the 2003 film Finding Nemo, she immediately forgets what she is doing, who she is talking to, and what she was talking about. She can hold most of the new information for a few seconds, but as soon as there is a lull in conversation or something distracts her from what she is doing, she becomes confused and sometimes disoriented. She has difficulty remembering names, directions, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had concerns about Dory's survival ability and did their best to prepare her for life. They laid out seashells in a path to their home, taught her songs about survival, and made her rehearse her catchphrase "I suffer from short–term memory loss," all in an effort to help her stay safe. Despite their precautions, Dory's mother and father still feared for her future. One scene showed them talking late at night, with her mother in tears, asking, "Do you think she's... that she can make it on her own?" (Stanton and MacLane, 2016). As if to prove her mother's point, while attempting to bring a purple shell to her parents, Dory is swept away by the undertow and taken out to sea. Her parents must then rely on the hope that their teaching and rehearsing survival mechanisms would be enough to keep her alive until they can be reunited. They spend the next several years building a new home with shell paths to wait for her. Dr. Baxendale pointed out, "the frustration of the fish around her with her constant repetition accurately reflects the feelings of people who live with amnesic patients" (BBC, 2004). Her parents loved her, but trying to take care of an amnesic child is stressful, as the film showed. • 15. Hm Empire Research Paper There are many theories imposing the possible conceptions regarding why the Khmer Empire suddenly declined around 1431. The following report will discuss some of the major factors leading to the collapse of the Khmer Empire. Architectural Miscalculations Evidence indicates that engineers decided to change the course of the Siem Reap River by constructing a dam. The goal of the dam was to direct river water toward a newly built reservoir. But the engineers miscalculated and built the dam too shallow. The effect of this was that when monsoons arrived the dam turned into a massive spillway. Water began flowing over the top of the dam into abandoned canals, causing catastrophic damage to other parts of the system. Once the dam was fully breached ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thais first appear in Khmer records as hired soldiers for the empire, and their numbers increased as they began to establish themselves as settlers in the community. Eventually the Thai created their own small kingdoms, the most important of them in the western side of the empire. As these kingdoms grew in power, they initiated several attacks predominantly on the Empire's main territories. In order to protect the empire, the Angkor had to direct portion of its manpower to secure strong armed forces, which in turn, deprived itself from giving good maintenance to other important parts of the society. The Thai eventually used a road built by Jayavarman VII to march from the Chaophaya River basin through Phnomrung (in Burirum of modern Thailand) and then through Aranyapathet to attack the weakened Angkor and finally defeated the extremely weakened empire in 1431. In conclusion, scientists have not come to a final deduction on the reasoning behind the sudden collapse of the Khmer Empire. Although, the evidence shown suggests that it was predominantly due to hydraulic mishaps that affected many other aspects of the empire's prosperity (hygiene, defence, population, trade) ... • 17. HMS Lumber Case Study Assignment Kilkenny Lumber Case Study Assignment Part I 1. Productivity of the crew would be below standard. I believe for the productivity to be below standard because they were sent to this crew because of their lack of work. Just because they have been assigned to another crew, does not mean that they will begin to work well right away. When compared to the Equity Theory, I believe there to be positive inequity for the three men assigned to the new group. For being assigned to the group due to lack of work, it is unfair to have a higher pay grade than those who have been in the company for a longer period of time and who are doing their job correctly. This may cause issues with subprofessionals being motivated to work to their full ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The crewmen who were assigned to this group are probably not happy with their reassignment, so at least in the beginning things may be slow. 5. Some subgroups will have accepted the informal standards about crew behavior while others will not. The crewmen who have been with the company for a longer period of time may have grown accustomed to the current standards. The new crewmen on the other hand may disagree with the standards and try to implement new ones. Since Kilkenny management considered the leader and assistant leader to be excellent foresters and teachers, I believe they will implement new strategies which will better benefit the crew as a whole. Part II My predictions in part I were fairly accurate to the information provided in part II. The existing crewmen talked amongst one another at lunch time and the new crewmen isolated themselves from the group. Additional information that would have helped with predictive accuracy could have included information about the three new professionals past performance in other groups specifically. A description could have included information about the amount of work done compared to fellow co–workers. Also, if the professionals have been reassigned in the past could have been added. Part III

  • 24. Memory And Memory : The Three Types Of Memory Three Types of Memory Aisha Smaller P.5 10–24–17 What Are The Three Types of Memory? What are the three types of memory? The three types of memory are the following; short term memory, long term memory, and sensory memory. Before I go into the three types of memory, let's talk about one very important vocab word. The vocab word is the word memory. Memory refers to the how much information we can store and manipulate from our memory to our processing center, or working memory. Now that we understand the term memory, let's talk about each of the three types of memory in detail. First, sensory memory. What is sensory memory? According to the textbook, in the glossary, it defines sensory memory as, "the immediate, initial recording of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second, short term memory. What is short term memory? According to the textbook, short term memory is defined as the working memory, and in the glossary, it says; "memory that holds information briefly before it is stored and forgotten" (Chapter 7 Memory. and In Holt Psychology; Principles in Practice (pp. 161–166)]. What this means is that short term memory is the second step before long term memory. You use short term memory every day. For example, when you need to call someone and you have the phone number in your mind, it is in your short term memory. You probably need to write it down before the thought, or the phone number, disappears or fades from your short term memory. But, short term memory has its drawbacks. When you study for a test, the information will probably be transferred to your short term memory. When you're done taking the test, the study information will disappear, because you don't need the information for the test, and plus, it's in your short term memory Sensory memory also branches off into iconic and echoic memory, which are the following; ionic memory is the buffer for when incoming visual information is stored as a picture or icon. Echoic memory stores sound. What happens in short term memory? Well, information in this stage of memory fades after a few seconds, so here is the process: When information goes into short term memory, it's stored, but the brain can only hold that information for 20–30 seconds at a time. ... During class time, the students will do many fun, interactive activities everyday. For the first couple of minutes, the students can receive informational tips on speaking. Then, they could practice those skills in exercises. Then once every couple months, a public speaker can come in and personally teach the students. Many jobs require superb public speaking skills, so it is logical to provide information to the youth ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was a very special one that could not be recreated by any professional cartographer. It was a sketch of another star chart, which belonged to an extraterrestrial species–or so they thought. The chart was drawn by a man who claimed he had been abducted by aliens. In the meeting, they were to discuss whether the chart was genuine or just the random scrawling of an insane man. Finally, he arrived. As soon as he entered the building, he saw the "Out of Order" sign on the elevator. He raced up the stairs and made it into the room just in time. • 33. A New Hippocampal Modulation Paradigm ( Hm Paradigm, Fig To test this hypothesis, we measured how well people remembered experiences near in time to their efforts to retrieve or suppress an unrelated memory. To induce retrieval and suppression, we adapted the Think/No–Think (TNT) procedure used to study how people control unwanted memories, yielding a new hippocampal modulation paradigm (HM Paradigm, Fig. 1). In the TNT procedure, people perform trials requiring them to attend to a reminder of a past event; for each reminder, they are cued to retrieve the associated memory (Think trials), or to suppress its retrieval (No–Think trials). Suppressing retrieval in response to a strong reminder reduces blood–oxygen–level dependent activation in the hippocampus and impairs retention of the suppressed memory5–11. These reductions originate from inhibitory control processes supported by the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex6–11. Retrieving memories, in contrast, increases hippocampal activity12 and often facilitates later recall13. Thus, hippocampal activity can be modulated according to task goals, though practice at suppressing retrieval is often necessary to achieve hippocampal reductions6. A key assumption of the present work is that this modulation does not target particular memories, which may be a person's goal, but rather reflects a broadly targeted suppression (hereinafter, 'systemic suppression') of regional activity in the hippocampus that generally disrupts other memory functions supported by this region. For instance, beyond ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the report says their song has enough potential to be a great hit, that conclusion does little for them because the record labels are not likely to acknowledge the credibility of the HMI report. • 37. Memento : The Development Of Memory And Short-Term Memory Memories are priceless facets of the human mind. They make humans who they are, molding them into unique beings. The development of memories over time is critical to the growth and assembly of personality; as memories dictate, both directly and indirectly, how humans view the world around them as well as how they behave within it. What if one could not create or retain new memories? What if one could not access past memories? This is the case with people who suffer from anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia respectively. Cognitive Science professor, Dr. Jim Davies imparted an understanding of these disorders through his screening of Christopher Nolan's film Memento. Neurologist Oliver Sacks, author of the book The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Other Clinical Tales aids in further establishing the nature of these disorders through detailed accounts of numerous patients who suffered from them. In order to truly understand anterograde and retrograde amnesia, one must first understand the concepts of short–term memory and long–term memory, the former being mainly affected and as a result transferring the effects onto the latter. Cognition was defined by Davies in class as being the manipulation, storage, and processing of representations. These representations are stored in memory which is divided into different types. Short–term memory has little capacity. It stores information (representations) for a temporary period of time, although some but not all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People who suffer from this impairment, are unable to encode new memories into long–term memory but are able to keep them in short term. The movie Fifty First Dates portrays this type of amnesia accurately and inaccurately. The main protagonists of Fifty First Dates are Lucy, played by Drew Barrymore, and Henry, played by Adam Sandler. Lucy suffers from anterograde amnesia due to brain damage. She even dreams about Adam Sandler's character even though she is not sure how she knows him. Somehow, her encounters with him are encoded even though she doesn't remember them explicitly. A Real Life Example: FL and Similarities from the Movie What is most interesting is that the movie seems to be based off of a real incident. Smith et. al (2010) wrote about a special case of a patient named FL. She was in a car accident in 2005 and reported difficulty retaining information from one day to the next. She describes her memory as unaffected over the course of the day but when she falls asleep, the memory for each day disappears. FL also, is able to recall things from before her accident. Lucy, a fictional character created for a movie, shares many things in common with FL, thus showing that the film is accurate to the disorder. It also is interesting to know that FL like Lucy was somehow able to remember something's. According to Smith et. al (2010), "For some tests, unbeknownst to FL, material learned on the previous day was intermixed with material learned on the same day as the test." In other words, FL sometimes mixed in previously learned material that she did not recall learning due to her impairment with material that she learned that day. In addition, last summer, the Chief Inspector of Prisons warned that jails in England and Wales were in their worst state for a decade (HM Chief Inspector of Prisons for England and Wales, 2015) with sharp rises in inmate violence, increasing drug use, staff shortages and squalid conditions. Therefore there is no doubt that the prison system is in urgent need of reform. Last month, Elizabeth Truss outlined planned reforms to the prison system in a government proposal, 'Prison Security and Reform' she labelled 'the blueprint for the biggest overhaul of our prisons in a generation". She outlined plans for a governor–led approach, in which prison governors will have the power to opt out of national contracts, and make their own resource allocation decisions. Constantly feening for a way to remember, knowing that no matter how hard you try to remember a piece of something will always be forgotten. This is the case of a man named Leonard Shelby, an insurance claims investigator who lives with his wife who is diabetic in the movie Memento. This movie depicts a life that some may live every day; a life that struggles to remember certain aspects of it. In this psychological thriller, the disorder presented through the main character Leonard is called Anterograde Amnesia, better known as short–term memory. This is a disorder in which short term memories are often forgotten long before they ever have the ability to become long term memories. This is caused by the brain being affected by some sort of trauma or accident that affects the hippocampus of the brain making it very hard from that point on to remember anything other than the long–term memories that were set in your brain before any trauma. During a break in into his home Leonard was struck by a gun to the side of his head by two masked criminals which caused his short–term memory loss. Also during the incident, his wife was raped and killed by them. Leonard kills one of the criminals, but the other gets away with minimal damage. According to Buckland, the film is very difficult to fallow and it requires to be watched at least twice to fully comprehend all the director Christopher Nolan who doubles as an actor is trying to pass across (2009). Leonard Shelby is suffering from Anterograde Amnesia a disability which makes it technical for him to comprehend new memories beyond the victimization before his trauma. In the bid to cope with his Amnesia, he relates to a client has had while he was serving as an insurance agent. The client goes by the name Sammy Jenkins and he has the same experience of suffering from the same amnesia as Leonard. Initially, Leonard worked on Sammy's case while attempting to prove that unlike his case, Sammy was mentally ill. Leonard narrates this story to everyone in the attempt to explain his amnesia. • 72. Accurate Timekeeping At Sea In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries clock making was a vital European technology, and London was at its cutting edge. As a maritime nation, the British were concerned with one problem in particular: they could make clocks that kept very good time as long as they stayed perfectly still but not when they were shaken about, and particularly not on board a rolling ship. If you wanted to sail, it was impossible to keep a precise record of time. And at sea, if you can't tell the time, you don't how far east or west you are. It is relatively easy to calculate latitude – your distance north or south of the equator – by measuring the height of the Sun above the horizon at noon; but this won't let you calculate longitude – your position east or west. The problem of accurate timekeeping at sea was finally fixed in the middle of the eighteenth century by John Harrison. He invented a marine chronometer which could go on accurately telling the time in spite of the changes in temperature and humidity and the constant movement of a ship. This made it possible for ships anywhere to establish their longitude. Before a ship set sail, its chronometer would be set to the local time in harbor – for the British this was usually Greenwich. You would then compare the time at Greenwich with the time of noon on the ship, which you fixed by the Sun. The difference between the two times gave you your longitude. For the twenty–four hours in the day, every hour the Sun 'moves' across the sky that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Case Study Of HM Case HM case is a case study of a person named Henry Molaison. He was run over by a cyclist when he was nine years, and diagnosed with epilepsy afterwards. By age 27 the condition worsened, causing him to undergo an experimental brain surgery under Henry Scoville. 'The removals extended posteriorly along the mesail surface of the temporal lobes for a distance of approximately 8cm from the temporal tips and probably destroyed the anterior two–thirds of the hippocampus and hippocampal gyrus bilaterally, as well as the uncus and amygdala (Scoville and Milner 1957)' Though the condition of epilepsy cured with the surgery, HM was diagnosed with 'Anterograde Amnesia', a condition where a person faces loss of memory after a specific incident. The specific incident in HM's case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... it was revealed that, the removal of parts of the Medial temporal lobe affect the conversion of short– term memories in to long–term memories. Short term memory is unstable where as long term memory is more stable. The action interrupted by the removal of these brain parts is the attention and retrieval of event. (Advameg 2006)') This explains why the patient H.M. could successfully engage in the activities including implicit memory, which is un–conscious. The study of Henry Molaison's brain impairment, lead to many very important findings about the characteristics of human brain. In an experiment done by Brenda Milner to test his ability to acquire visual motor skills, it was discovered that the brain of human beings, is the home to more than one kind of memory. 'This demonstration provided the first hint that there was more than one kind of memory in the brain and suggested that some kinds of memory (motor skills) must lie outside the medial temporal lobe (Squire 2009)' The fact that knowledge comprehended by the brain is of two categories, namely declarative knowledge and procedural knowledge was also an outcome of the study of Henry's memory ... Cuevas University of California Davis Abstract A study by Smith, Thelen, and colleagues questioned Piaget's A–not –B errors which happens when babies make errors when trying to remember where an object is hidden and revert to where they last remember the object being not at the current location. Smith, Thelen, and colleagues believe it is more of a dynamic systems approach, than an error of stage IV of Piaget's stages of cognitive development which is titled the object concept. Smith and colleagues believe that the error in the task mentioned above wasn 't specific to a certain developmental stage. Smith and colleagues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following a ten second interruption, the child is permitted to hunt for the toy and naturally does so correctly. After many hide and seek games for the same object at location A, it is buried at another location–location B. Babies ages eight to ten months generally returned to search for the object at location A when it had just been hidden at the new location. This error is defined by Piaget as stage 4 which is development of the object concept. This fault shows not only important progress made in stage 4 of development but, also a problem in linking up object representation to the child's prior knowledge of location. Psychologist have revealed many different explanations for this result. Examples of this are in terms of the egocentric representation of space (e.g., Acredolo, 1985; Bremner, 1978; Bremner&Bryant, 1977), the immaturity of the prefrontal cortex (e.g., Diamond, 1990a, 1990b; Diamond&Goldman–Rakic, 1989), and the fragility of object memory (e.g., Munakata, 1998; Munakata, McClelland, Johnson, &Siegler, 1997), and others. All of these studies share the commonality that this error results in the baby's brain at a specific point in development. Smith and colleagues find justification of the error through multiple processes that result in self motivated actions, like reaching for an object at a familiar location throughout development; error is not specific to a set time in ... "Wow Hayner, first try too, when 'd you get so good at it?" Pence asked. "Practice makes perfect, as they say." Hayner, having tied up the fishes in the bag, gave his prize to Xion who giddily accepted it.
