Profile:
I have extensive previous experience in Management having previously supervised an insurance
region incorporating underwriting, claims and marketing for both personal lines/motor book and
commercial insurance. On moving back to the UK my main focus has been acquisition and retention
of large commercial cases as an Underwriter with a specialisation towards Fleet and Motor Trade.
DLG has undergone many changes over the past three years and I have been able to be part of the
change by assisting with the off shoring project; producing process maps, and providing training of a
technical nature to the off shore team in India.

When arriving back in the UK I joined the DLG as this company had undergone a recent restructure,
they were employing specialists to deal with their larger more complex cases along with building
strong relationships with the respective Brokers.
- Liaising and negotiating with brokers regarding all aspects of their respective client’s
insurance requirements along with renewals.
- Face to face with the brokers with the view to building relationships.
- Controlling all aspects of the renewal cycles of large cases such as surveys, exposures, risk,
large losses.
- Rectifying negative trends by investigation.
- Delivery of results to budgeted targets.
- Technical Audits
- Mentoring and acting as a point of referral for colleagues.
- Providing rate strength and retention stats to head office.

Wheels Group was an underwriting company which was new to the market, my strong network of
clients along with my knowledge of the market allowed me to ensure profitable growth within the
region. I left Wheels Underwriting to come back to the UK.

We won the region of the year award the following year, my income increased from R1.2 mil per
month R9 million per month, with a loss ration under 40%.
- Responsible to the operation of the 4 branches (46 staff members)
- Operations included, overseeing claims, underwriting, marketing
Internal Audits, legal cases and appointments of solicitors and investigators.
Making final decisions on approval of brokers, business and claim payments.
Reinsurance collections
- Responsible for overall achievement of budgeting targets. TCF, governance,
- Employment of staff and training of staff.
- Ascertaining the customer’s needs, managing expectations and delivering on agreed standards
of service.

I achieved the status of Branch Manager after completing my MBIA (2 Year Management Diploma)
On average I had been promoted every year since my joining in 1987 as a Business development
assistant.
