Profile
• Joined Oamps Insurance Brokers (now Arthur J Gallagher) as an Account Executive managing an
existing book of business clients. Completed my Diploma of Insurance Broking through NIBA in
2014. A major focus on writing mid-market business accounts particularly within the motor trade. In
my second year with Oamps, ended the year 4th
in terms of budget winning the OAMPS Olly award
for top 10 brokers nationally. Within OAMPS Adelaide, I have twice received the OAR award. This
award is given bi-monthly with nominations from my peers.
• I have experience running my own brokerage within the general insurance industry in Durban, South
Africa, representing most general Insurance Companies and Underwriters in that market. My client
base covered the spectrum from large commercial and marine risks, Tourism - Busses and
Passenger Liability through to personal lines insurance. I built up a solid reputation as a client
friendly professional, known for my integrity.
• I believe the key to my success in the insurance industry is due to my optimistic, determined outlook

During my period as Chairman of the North Coast Branch of the Insurance Broking Council, the
branch won IBC Branch of the Year in 2004. I was appointed KwaZulu-Natal’s Short Term IBC

From March 2009 to December 2011, Account Executive with Reid Raetzer Insurance Brokers (who
purchased my Insurance Brokerage) .
From 1985 to March 2009, owned and managed a successful and well respected commercial and
personal lines insurance brokerage. Brokerage comprised four highly qualified and competent staff
members with infrastructural policy issue and premium collection.

Arthur J Gallagher – General Insurance: June 2012 – To Date
Joined Oamps Insurance Brokers (now Arthur J Gallagher) taking over a book of business from
an Account Executive who had left the Company.
Job Overview
• My first year with Oamps involved learning a new insurance market, products and systems
which are distinctively different from the South African Insurance Market.
• The priority during my first year with Oamps was to meet and build a relationship with my
cliental. As I enjoy working with people and earning their trust, this objective was
successfully achieved.
• As an account executive, my role is to manage my book of business and to achieve a new
business budget. Prospecting for new business comes naturally to me and I maintain a
healthy number of prospects within my production pipeline.

Reid Raetzer Insurance Brokers – General Insurance Division: March 2009 – December 2011
With our family decision to immigrate to Australia, my brokerage was merged in a sale agreement with
Reid Raetzer Insurance Brokers, one of the larger more established independent insurance brokerages in
the Kwa Zulu Natal area .
Job Overview
• Serviced a commercial portfolio and ensured a smooth transition for my clients to the new brokerage
during the hand over period prior to leaving South Africa.
o This included annual business renewals with commercial clients to review their current
business insurance requirements and to educate them on business insurance (cover in force,
cover available, policy terms, conditions and warranties).
o Any clients from the portfolio who had queries or claim difficulties which fell outside the
capabilities of the staff were referred to me to ensure the matter was resolved expediently
and to the client’s satisfaction.
• Within the infrastructure of a larger brokerage, I was able to spend more time on new business and
marketing to niche business prospects. This allowed me increase new business sales during this two
year period.

3. Owner and Manager of General Insurance Brokerage
Insurance Broking Services – General Insurance Division: 1985 – March 2009
Initially the business was started as Tregaskis and Associates, but the name was changed to Insurance
Broking Services to better reflect the nature and image of the business.
Job Overview
• Most new business was referral business from existing clients and Life Assurance Brokers. As the
principle producer, I actively marketed to niche business prospects.
• Business Renewals were conducted annually with commercial clients to review their current business
insurance requirements and to educate them on business insurance (cover in force, cover available,
policy terms, conditions and warranties).
• Our brokerage provided personal service to our clients. Queries or claim difficulties which could not
be answered or resolved by staff, were referred to me to ensure the matter was resolved expediently
and to the client’s satisfaction.
• Liaison and consultation with the external compliance and accounting officers took place on an
ongoing basis, to ensure the brokerage was compliant in accordance with the Financial Advisory and
Intermediary Services Act and South African Receiver of Revenue.
• Management of staff.
• Overseeing policy issue on behalf of a number of insurance companies as well as a specially
negotiated in-house group scheme.
• Approximately two days per month were allocated to training and assessments of Insurance industry
learners (part of an innovative by the South African Government who had introduced Skills Education
Training in an effort to uplift the skills level within all economic sectors.)
Key Achievements
• Built up a successful business from scratch in an extremely competitive industry. This can be
attributed to an outstanding closing ratio and a high rate of client retention built on the basis of client
service excellence.
• Created employment for four full time staff members within my brokerage, and assisted with their
training and skills development. Also providing employment for additional part time employees
providing services to the business outside of the insurance industry.
• Becoming a General Insurance Skills facilitator and assessor, helping to train and pass on my skills
and knowledge to others in the insurance industry in South Africa.
• Development of Complisure (www.complisure.com): sophisticated workflow processes to manage
underwriting, claims, customer communication. The system automates a range of processes
including the sending of SMS's and e-mails to clients, insurers and your own staff to ensure all
requirements are met with a strong emphasis on compliance.
• In 2004, I was elected as Chairman of the North Coast Branch of the Insurance Broking Council.
• During my period as Chairman of the IBC North Coast, the branch was awarded the 2004 IBC
Branch of the Year.
• Appointment as the IBC KwaZulu-Natal Divisional Chairman and representative on the IBC Board of
Directors.
