1. Form of music video
Narative- this video may be seen as a narrative as he's telling a story
through the lyrics of his song.
Conceptual- the video is based on him being “drunk” over heartbreak
and imagining things happening even though they aren't happening.
The fact that the whole video and song revolves around him being
drunk may suggest the concept is him being drunk
Performance- Ed Sheeran acts out his lyrics within the video and
through props such as alcohol and with the use of the cat
Cinematography
the camera zooms in onto things that would change his behaviour or
mood. i.e. the alcohol in the bar, the mobile phone with his
girlfriends text messages, the shots of his girlfriend and pictures of
them together. These are all important things in the video which
change his behaviour
Relationship between sound and images
the relationship between the sound an images is fairly close in this
video as he's singing about being drunk and he's acting drunk
throughout. The lyrics describe his heartbreak and his drinking is the
result of his heartache. Nothing seems to be going right from the
lyrics which is further aided within the video where isn't in control of
himself and is seen to be all over the place.
Mise en scene
the props used are the beer cans and also the cat. the props in this
video are very important is it is his hallucination and his mind-set
through his view. The props in the video all contribute to making him
feel the way he does through the video and with the lyrics.
Effects
effects include tracking of the camera. This is shown when the
camera does a 180 spin between two actors or props in the video
being filmed. This could be to express his drunk mind-set
Audience
I don't feel as if there is a specific target audience for this music
video as all age ranges from the teenage years+ can relate to this
video as it is based on relationships. The concept would most likely
interest
Institutions
2013 RCA Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment
Representations This is a representation of the rnb and pop genre. It
may also represent the new young generation of partying and always
having fun. Women's sexuality is on-going throughout the video as
well as cultural dancing i.e. the twerking etc.
