2. INTRODUCTION
• Dermatitis is a group of diseases that results
in inflammation of the skin.
• It is also known as eczema.
• These diseases are characterized by itchiness,
red skin, and a rash.
• In cases of short duration there may be
small blisters while in long-term cases the skin
may become thickened.

3. TYPES
• The type of dermatitis is generally determined
by the person's history and the location of the
rash.
• atopic dermatitis
• allergic contact dermatitis
• irritant contact dermatitis
• stasis dermatitis

4. ATOPIC DERMATITIS
• It is also known as atopic eczema, is a type
of inflammation of the skin (dermatitis). It
results in itchy, red, swollen, and cracked skin.
Clear fluid may come from the affected areas,
which often thicken over time.

5. ALLERGIC CONTACT DERMATITIS
• Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a form
of contact dermatitis that is the manifestation of
an allergic response caused by contact with a
substance; the other type being irritant contact
dermatitis

6. STATIS DERMATITIS
• Stasis dermatitis refers to the skin changes that
occur in the leg as a result of "stasis"
or blood pooling from insufficient
venous return; the alternative name of varicose
eczema comes from a common cause of this
being varicose veins.

7. DIAPER DERMATITIS
• Generic rash or Irritant diaper dermatitis (IDD)
is characterized by joined patches
of erythema and scaling mainly seen on
the convex surfaces, with the skin folds spared.
• Irritant diaper dermatitis is a generic term
applied to skin rashes in the diaper area that are
caused by various skin disorders and/or
irritants.

8. • Pruritus or itch is defined as an unpleasant
sensation of the skin that provokes the urge to
scratch.
• It is a characteristic feature of many skin
diseases and an unusual sign of some systemic
diseases.
• Pruritus may be localized or generalized and can
occur as an acute or chronic condition.
