3. With this spine the artist has decided to use two different designs due to the dynamic
of her digipak one side features Rihanna (The artists name) in bold red letters in
comparisons to the album name which is in the same font but in black. This could be
to separate the two different names so when the audience read it from afar they can
establish the difference between the two texts rather than it being read as just one
big set of text. Also on the left hand side there's the def jam logo which is the record
label in which rihanna is signed to n the other side we have a block of writing in thin
lettering that reads the artists name and also the album name all of which are in the
same font along with colour this time. Its surrounded by extremely small lettering
reminiscent of the news article theme the front and back cover had its also
continued into the first spine so they blend together more proficiently
4. This is also a spine from another one of Rihannas albums. The text is in black while
the background is black. I have found that this is poplar choice is reversing the colours
so that the background is dark and the text light. Again this makes it clear and easy to
read for the audiences consuming the album its accessible if they put it on the shelves
as it makes it easier to pick out and recognise.
This spine is virtually the same as rihannas except it follows the conventions that were
also on the front cover like the font and colour. The spine also follows conventions by
the use of the number and record label being on the side
5. Conclusion
From this analysis I have concluded that it will need to feature both
the artist name and the album as well
I have also decided I need to make a record label logo along with a
serial number to make it feel more realistic and to relate back to
the convention it also needs a Basic, two- or three-colour colour
schemes work best
I have also decided I want a bold font as I have seen rihanna has
use bolder fonts and she is the prime for me in terms of my genre
it makes it stand out a lot more
The spine works best when it links cohesively to either the front or
back cover, so i may potentially add the similar detail from the
cover and back to make it all link together
