4. Elizabeth Jennings (july18,1926 –October 26,2001)
was an English poet.
She published her first collection of poetry in 1953
and was found for her consistent devotion to poetry
. Jennings wrote over twenty books on poetry
including New Collected Poems (2002). Jennings'
early poetry was published in journals such
as Oxford Poetry, New English Weekly, The
Spectator, Outposts and Poetry Review, but her
first book was not published until she was 27. The
lyrical poets she cited as having influenced her
were Hopkins, Auden, Grave and Muir. Her second
book, A Way of Looking, won the Somerset
Maugham award and marked a turning point, as the
prize money allowed her to spend nearly three
months in Rome, which was a revelation. It brought
a new dimension to her religious belief and inspired
her imagination.

6. This poem is basically a monologue
an earthworm. The earthworm
thinks it is absurd because its
body look like a sausage and
earthworm proudly says that birds
and fish feed on it. But earthworm
admits that lacks the beauty and
colour of snake. The earthworm
,though absurd and small,tiils and
soften the soil. It prepare the soil
for spring so that new flowers and
plants grow.
The earthworm is
unique because even if it gets cuts
into two, it grows back the other
half. In the second stanza the
earthworm is addressing to one
who is small but not as itself.
