Need of Evaluation

Evaluation has emerged as a
prominent process of assessing ,
testing and measuring.
Its main objective is qualitative
improvement
Concept
Evaluation is the science of
providing information for decision
making.
Evaluation is the process that tells
the strengths and weaknesses of
the program so that efforts were
made to bring improvement in the
system.
Evaluation focuses on grades and
may reflect classroom components
other than the course content.
These include:
Discussion
Cooperation
Attendance
Evaluation implies a critical
assessment of educational process
and its outcome in the light of the
objectives.
Evaluation includes measurement
and testing. It is an information
processing, judgment formation,
and decision making.
Evaluation is a continuous process.
It forms an integral part of the
total educational system and that is
intimately related to educational
objectives.

Meaning
 Evaluation is the process of determining
the extent to which educational
objectives are being attained ,
effectiveness of teaching- learning
experiences provided in the classroom,
and how well the goal of education has
been accomplished.

To make judgement about the
quality.
To keep a periodic check on
effectiveness of the educational
institution.
To indicate where improvements
are necessary.
Purpose
To provide information , effective
guidance of individual student
evaluation.
To appraise all significant aspects
of the students accomplishment.
To provide psychological security
to the school staff and students .
To provide a sound basis for public
relations.
Evaluation:
 Is important to the classroom
teachers , supervisors and
administrations in directing as well
as guiding teaching.
Stimulates students to study.
Helps parents to understand
pupil’s growth and interest.
Need
Evaluation:
Can be used to enforce external
standards upon the individual class
or school.
Helps to provide objective
evidences
Is helpful to the teacher
Emphasizes on the personal and
social, development, and academic
achievement of the child.


  • 2. Evaluation has emerged as a prominent process of assessing , testing and measuring. Its main objective is qualitative improvement Concept
  • 3. Evaluation is the science of providing information for decision making. Evaluation is the process that tells the strengths and weaknesses of the program so that efforts were made to bring improvement in the system.
  • 4. Evaluation focuses on grades and may reflect classroom components other than the course content. These include: Discussion Cooperation Attendance

  • 6. Evaluation implies a critical assessment of educational process and its outcome in the light of the objectives. Evaluation includes measurement and testing. It is an information processing, judgment formation, and decision making.

  • 8.  Evaluation is the process of determining the extent to which educational objectives are being attained , effectiveness of teaching- learning experiences provided in the classroom, and how well the goal of education has been accomplished. -NCERT
