Abstract
 Policy of inclusion is difficult to implement.
 Teacher’s not sufficiently well prepared and supported to
work in inclusive ways.
 Children can learn and feel they belong.
 Teachers play central role: They are crucial.
 Reviews on barriers to the development of successful
inclusive schools.
Introduction
 Inclusive education is a very new concept.
 Originated the phenomenon of respect for an inherent
dignity of all human beings.
 Inclusive education refers to “to all learners, young people
with or without appropriate network of support services”.
 Believes, if a child is not able to learn it is not due to the
disability of the child.
 Success depends upon quality of the teachers and attitudes.
Inclusion Education
 Regardless of any challenges student may have, are placed in
age-appropriate general education classes .
 To receive high quality instruction, interventions, and supports
that enable them to meet success.
 Students receive their education in the least restrictive
environment (LRE).
 The driving principle is to make all students
-> Feel welcomed,
-> Appropriately challenged,
-> Support their efforts.
Benefits for students
 Student with disabilities have higher achievement and
improved skills.
 Academic gains in literacy (reading and writing).
 Better communication skills, and improved social skills and
more friendships.
 findings about attitude in that they have higher self-concept.,
Inclusive classroom strategies
 Use a variety of instructional
formats.
 Ensure access to academic
curricular content.
 Apply universal design for learning.
Teachers need an understanding of best
practices in teaching and of adapted
instruction for SWD.
Inclusive Classroom Practices
• LESS whole-class, teacher-directed instruction
• LESS student passivity
• LESS prizing and rewarding of silence in the classroom
• LESS student time spent reading textbooks and basal readers
• LESS effort by teachers to thinly “cover” large amounts of material
• LESS rote memorization of facts and details
• LESS stress on competition and grades
Inclusive Classroom Practices
• MORE experimental, inductive, hands-on learning
• MORE active learning
• MORE choice for students
• MORE time devoted to reading full, original, books
• MORE deep study of a smaller number of topics
• MORE emphasis on higher order thinking skills when learning key
concepts and principles of a subject
• MORE cooperative and collaborative activity

Role of School Teachers in
Inclusive Education
• Curriculum Modification.
• Communication.
• Classroom Environment.
• Managing Behavior.
• Professional Development
• Collaboration.
• Co-Teaching.
Conclusion
 Disable students have unique experiences where they interact
constantly with their non-disabled peers.
 Teachers play a critical role in determining students’ experiences
in the classroom on a daily basis.
 Special attention must be paid to ensure that teachers can
cooperate with those disable students.
 Regular education teachers and special education teachers
should be placed in a co-teaching situation.
 Communication and having an open mind to suggestions are
two key things - working in a co-teaching situation.
