This website has the ability to connect with your friends not only through the website itself, but it
allows the user to share music with people not yet a user of Sound Owl through other social
medias. For example, if a user is using Sound Owl on a desktop, they can share music through
Facebook by using the share button that gives you options on how you want to share the content.
By doing this, more users will sign up with Sound Owl due to word of mouth as the connectivity and
concept of the app allows all users to share enjoyable content with their friends who will then be
attracted to the website.
This is an app for the people who don’t want to pay monthly subscriptions. The app will be
completely free to use, however will run advertisements. These ads will be the source of revenue,
users can also pay to remove advertisements if they really want to. This means that everyone will
have access to the website, therefor activity will be high and will grow fast due to the large amount
of people sending each other links to their favorite songs or albums on our website.
8. What the product means and why people
should use it
This is an website for the people who don’t want to pay monthly subscriptions. This will be
completely free to use, however will run ads. These ads will be the source of revenue, users can
also pay to remove advertisements if they really want to. In many aspects, it is similar to streaming
services such as Spotify and Apple music, with additional features that it make it more of a social
network than a music streaming service.
People should be using Sound Owl instead of Spotify for example as there is no subscription charge
and it is easier to share content quickly, communicating with friends about the newest releases and
keeping up to date with your favorite artists. This is free for all users, therefor people should use
Sound Owl in order to save money every month.
9. Summary of pages
The Log in page has a very clean and simple design. It only includes what is necessary as if I put too
much on the page and it was too crowded, we would not look professional and users would be less
likely to sign up. By keeping the design nice and simple, the users will be inclined to believe we are
professional, therefor will be more likely to sign up. The Log in page simply includes our name
‘Sound Owl’, 2 boxes for Username/Email and Password, Forgot your password, Sign up,
Remember me, terms/conditions and an option to log in through Facebook. These are the vital
aspects of a Log in pages, therefor have been included. There is also a lot of space free that could be
used in the future.
The Exemplar page is the page that the user will be on when picking what they want to listen to,
with the album cover being displayed in the center of the screen. You can see the Menu on the left
side of the screen that will be used as the main way to navigate the website. There is also a friends
tab that allows you to see which friends are online and what they are listening to. On the right side
of the screen the user can find the new and popular albums, judged by what they listen to. The
name ‘Sound Owl’ is at the top of the screen with the user (share) and settings button either side.
10. Legal and ethical issues
Legal issues
Opening meetings act- the policy behind open meeting laws are that any decisions made by the
government and legislation should be made openly and not in secret. Therefor the general public
can be fully informed regarding decision making bodies. However, communications that take place
over social media have potential to not follow this act. For example, friending, tweeting and
messaging via social media is widely considered informal, therefor a meeting can be constituted
under most open meeting law regimes.
Discrimination- as the majority of the world have access to the internet, you need to be very
careful in order not to discriminate against anyone. This is because if we discriminated against
anyone, it is likely that we would face sever legal issues.
Copyright- it is necessary to be cautious of what you post on social media to avoid any potential
copyright charges. If something copyrighted is posted, the poster should make sure they obtain a
physical record of the copyright licenses.
Privacy- the majority of social media platforms give the user control over their own privacy. Even
though the majority of privacy concerns apply to individuals, users who are public should be just as
careful as everything posted online stays online forever, even if you delete it there is a likely copy.

11. Guidelines and Conditions
The world Wide Web Consortium (W3C) established the standards for interoperating web based
content. This has been done through releasing any browsers that do not follow these standards at
all time, browser makers are effecting Web developers, users and businesses. When there is a lack
of support for these standards, using and developing web based technology become difficult and
expensive. The main goal is to support the core standards and encourage browser makers to also
abide by these standards. This would ensure simple and affordable access to web based
technology for everyone.

Terms and conditions are used in order to help everyone understand their rights and or
obligations. This allows the parties to focus their energy on agreeing the specifics of an order.
Terms and conditions also provide comfort for the user as the terms are compliable for the
majority of the user base. By having terms and conditions, you are much safer legally as the users
have agreed to the terms and conditions.

12. Conclusion
In conclusion, throughout this LO and unit as a whole, creating a social media can be very
troublesome. Firstly, coming up with an idea that would work and then seeing to making it happen.
This has to be done through explanations, interacting with out target audience, legal and ethical
issues, Terms and conditions etc. This takes a long time and can be very complex also. This is
because multiple people need to work together and collaborate in order to make everything go
smoothly and to perfection in order to avoid all legal issues and find success. I am happy with how
my social media platform turned out overall, keeping it very simple and appealing. However, at the
same time I feel like there is still a lot of room for improvement.
