Responsibility for others: Housekeeping staff, cleaners and laundry staff
Overall purpose of the job:
To ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness are maintained throughout the hotel and to manage the
housekeeping and laundry department efficiently to maintain standards and control costs.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To ensure standards of cleanliness, hygiene and tidiness in all
Bedrooms /corridors /function rooms /public areas are maintained:
a) Supervising the daily cleaning of assigned rooms, bathrooms, corridor areas and public areas to the highest
standards. This includes changing bed linen, replacing towels, cleaning bathrooms thoroughly, vacuuming,
mopping and dusting daily. Subject to levels of business the housekeeper will be expected to also service
rooms.
b) Ensuring the upkeep of vacant rooms.
c) Maintaining an orderly storeroom and trollies.
2. To ensure customer satisfaction is maintained by:
a) Ensuring guest laundry is collected, charged and returned to the guest in a speedy and accurate fashion.
b) Ensuring guest property left behind is logged and stored in a secure location for lost property.
c) Resolving any guest problems or complaints when possible and ensuring management are kept informed.
e) Action any maintenance requests in order to comply with the hotel’s established quality standards and ensure
guest satisfaction.
3. To set and maintain standards of service commensurate with the standing of the hotel:
a) Managing a stock control and ordering system to ensure availability of stock and cost control to maintain
costs to a minimum.
B) attending any appropriate off and on the job training courses.
c) Wearing a clean and suitable uniform and name badge at all times.
d) Implementing the hotel’s good customer relations policy, including politely addressing guests and colleagues
at all times
4. To ensure the department is operated within the Legal Framework by:
a) Immediately reporting and documenting to management any observed or known safety hazards, conditions or
unsafe practices and procedures.
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Job Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for all duties of the housekeeping operation and cleanliness levels in all areas of the property.

6. Daily picks up fresh linen from the linen room and distributes to the Room maids.

12. Cleans and varnish the wooden floor in the guest room.
13. Brush scrubs the walkway bricks cleans and scrubs sand-washed floor or ceramic tiles.
14. Cleans and maintains the wooden laths in front of the guestrooms.
15. Dust cleans the borders, floor skirts, and columns, shade lamps along the public areas and in the

16. Collects used guest's linen for cleaning together the list to the laundry.
17. Do not leave soiled linen or garbage lying in the hallways.
18. Set the temperature of check out rooms, as instructed by the Housekeeper.
19. Cleans the guestrooms and areas that assigned by the Supervisor or Assistant Housekeeper.
20. Writes out in details of the Room maid's control sheet
21. Changes bed accessories in the guestroom under the procedures.
22. Keeps properly the cleaning equipment as hotel's policy after used.
23. Leave the area, zone for breaks or meal periods as schedule by area or zone Supervisor.
24. Never leaves the guest room zone unattended, one Attendant must remain.
25. Counts and sorts dirty linen and delivers to the Laundry.
26. Keeps the guest's lost and found items and reports to the Housekeeping Clerk.
27. Reports to the Supervisor any repairs and maintenance required
28. Reports and records damaged items to Supervisor or HK Clerk.
29. Daily returns the Room maid's control sheet and log book to HK Clerk.
30. Daily pleases the flowers vase and fruit basket into the guest rooms.
31. Answer the calls from guests quickly and courteously.
32. Collect laundry bag from the guest for dry cleaning and pressing to the Laundry, delivers back when ready.
33. Help the guests with hotel information and do not give out information about guests under any
circumstances.
34. Arranges and set up the flower for the Honeymoon suites as required.
35. Turns down the rooms in the evening, all guest rooms and only suites for which an arrival is expected.
The floor supervisor reports to the assistant housekeeper. They are responsible for the
final condition of the guestrooms on the floors allocated to them. His/her duties are:-
1. Issue floor keys to room attendants
2. Supervise cleaning on the allotted floors and areas- including guestrooms,
corridors, staircases, floor pantries of the allotted floors
3. Inspection of cleaning in rooms and coordination of the work in floors
4. Supervise handling of soiled linen to laundry and requisitioning of fresh ones from
housekeeping
5. Report maintenance work on the floor
6. Supervise spring cleaning.
7. Coordinate with room service for tray clearance.
8. Maintain par stock for the respective floors.
9. Facilitate provision of extra services to guests such as baby sitters, hot water
bottles, other guest requests
Prepare housekeeping status reports.
Inform the front office about ready rooms Ensure services offered to VIPs
are of highest standards
