Activity: Comparative and Superlatives adjectives I: Making Comparison with regular and irregular forms
Skills: Listening, writing, speaking

Expected outcomes: By the lesson students will indentify comparatives - superlative adjectives and they
Way they are formed. Also students will recognise some of regular and irregular forms. Resources: dictionary,
markers, board, worksheets, data show, computers, speakers etc.

                                      Time     Comments:

Introduction :                      10 min Teacher greets the students , calls the roll and introduce
Greetings.                                 The new topic that they are going to work on : Comparative
                                           And superlative adjectives.

Intro-Warm up                       15 min As a warm up activity , teacher shares with the students an
 “The comparative and superlative          ESL song about comparative and superlative adjective. This
 Song.”                                    2 minutes song contain audio and lyrics where the rules
                                           To build comparatives and superlatives form are described:

                                           Teacher play the song first to make it comprehensible, and
                                           Then play it again in order to explain vocabulary and the
                                           Rules themselves.
                                           This material involves either listening and reading skills, so
                                           Will be useful to ask students to guess the meaning of
                                           The entire lyric song.


While -Stage:                             After doing that, teacher invites students to watch one
“ Making comparison : Comparative 40 min power presentation where the use of comparative and
  And superlatives adjectives tutorial”  superlative adjectives is explained in detail. This
                                         Presentation explains from the most basic:
                                         What is an adjective, what is a syllable, how we do form
                                         Comparative and superlative (spelling and irregular forms)
                                         Teacher ask for questions and ask students to pay
                                         Attention to the next video where comparative and
                                         Superlative forms are put in context through a mashed up
                                         Song where different song’s lyrics demonstrate how they

                                             In order to reinforce the contents , now teacher show up
                                             A second presentation where different adjectives are
                                             Included. Teacher ask students to build up all together
                                              Each and every comparative and superlative form.
Post stage:      15 min As a post stage activities , ask students to play two ESL games where
“Comparative             comparative and superlative forms are included. This activity will be useful
And superlative           to introduce new vocabulary as well (animals, places, adjectives etc).
ESL games”                 Once they start getting involved teacher provides individual assistance
                         In order to clarify doubts on vocabulary and related expressions.

Lesson Plan Comparative and Superlatives Adjectives

Lesson Plan 7 Date : Jun 25st , 2012 Level : 1ero Medio Activity: Comparative and Superlatives adjectives I: Making Comparison with regular and irregular forms Skills: Listening, writing, speaking Expected outcomes: By the lesson students will indentify comparatives - superlative adjectives and they Way they are formed. Also students will recognise some of regular and irregular forms. Resources: dictionary, markers, board, worksheets, data show, computers, speakers etc. Time Comments: Introduction : 10 min Teacher greets the students , calls the roll and introduce Greetings. The new topic that they are going to work on : Comparative And superlative adjectives. Roll Calling, Topic Introduction Intro-Warm up 15 min As a warm up activity , teacher shares with the students an “The comparative and superlative ESL song about comparative and superlative adjective. This Song.” 2 minutes song contain audio and lyrics where the rules To build comparatives and superlatives form are described: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axRQO-ttgyY Teacher play the song first to make it comprehensible, and Then play it again in order to explain vocabulary and the Rules themselves.
