Working Title:
sportlife
Audience:
My audience will be 18 to 40 as it will be an adults sports magazine, I will be aiming it here as I
want people hat at an age where they want to keep fit and cook good food. Not many people under
18 will be that interested neither someone over 40 as they don’t tend to participate in sports which
I will be focusing on. ABC1 social status. Mostly male targeted as the front cover I want a man
doing some form of sports this is because I have always targeted my magazines mostly to females
so wanted to try a opposite gender. Realistically I want to aim towards early 20s to early 30s as the
“athlete” I will be writing about s 25 years old and does a mostly male dominant sport and has
average of 20-30 year olds participating and watching.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I believe my progress in the last year has been good as I already knew a lot from the level 2 I did
the year before so really this year has been taking what I already know and making it better and in
more quality than last year’s work .I have become stronger with my print work I have made good
progress in how my image quality is more professional and fits with the fonts I also have shown my
progress in InDesign as I had never used it before and learnt how to use it really quickly. One of
my strongest points is by far Photoshop and have made massive progress with using the different
tools to produce good quality work. This will help me with my project as I will need to use high
quality images and I will definitely need to use InDesign when building up my magazine and
Photoshop is one of the biggest parts to edit and change images where I would need to change
them before putting them into InDesign and creating my final magazine front page and double
page spread.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I am going to make a front page of a magazine along with a double page spread about sport for
men particularly as the sport shown will be MMA which is mostly followed by a male audience I will
be writing a page about how athletes eat in preparation for a competition and how a healthy diet
can positively impact your life. Then on the other page there will be 5 tips on how to stick to a diet
that is going to help you get the body you want for summer without taking the enjoyment of eating
away and that you can still love your food while dieting. I will also be adding images to this so
illustrate the magazine. On my front page I will be having a man doing some modelling in his
training gear for MMA with a large title and great sub headings. For this I am going to really have
to do research on diets in the sports industry and also how different bodies need different diets. I
will also have to find out which camera techniques can capture the best image while fast
movement is happening as my model will be doing some punches in the air and I want this image
to look clean and crisp while been an action shot. I will want to do some secondary research to find
out what people would want to see in a sports magazine e.g. colours fonts images and way things
are written, this is important because the people will be reading the magazine so it is important to
find what they want also if I find out from people that don’t often read that genre of magazine and
see what I could add to maybe make them read that genre more and give them a new option and
widen my readers.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I will evaluate my work by looking at other sports magazines and see where I could either improve
my work or see where other magazines missed things that you might have done good. It would be
also great to look at my strengths and weaknesses in my magazine e.g. is my writing as good as if
could be could I have wrote more or more formal or my images show good use of colour and really
reflect what I am wanting to show. I will want to evaluate every aspect of my work from the
PowerPoints to my practical work as then the next time I do a project I can learn from the mistakes
I did and make the work better or remember what my strengths were and how I can input that into
my work in future.
