2. Process
I started off by going onto google and
finding an image I could use for my main
image to see what it would look like with
one in place. I copied and pasted it to
Photoshop and used the transformation
tool to make it fit my page. I then moved
onto my text, first I worked out what
colours would look the best with the
image and decided to grab the colours
from his shorts. The green from the top of
the shorts work well with the cover lines
and the red works for the title of the
magazine. I used the stencil font style
because it is strong and stands out which
was the look I was going for. Also the
stencil is used in the army which is known
for strong, hard people so I thought it
would also work with this.
3. I started by finding a plain black cartoon
boxing glove and tracing over it. I put
the opacity down on the images so I
could see the differences between what
I was drawing and the actual image. I
then went onto another layer before I
started drawing so that if I went wrong
and had to rub it out it didn’t rub the
image out also. I then made a few
different traces by copy and pasting it to
make a few different styles. I
experimented with different colours to
see which style looked the best I knew I
wanted a hard font so I used the stencil
font and Goudy stout for the red glove
because it reminded me of the font on
gloves I've seen before so wanted to
apply it to my designs. I changed the
colours of the gloves by selecting an
area and going to pick a colour from the
colour wheel and using the paint bucket
fill tool to fill the full area.
4. I started to do this by finding
a bee and a butterfly and put
them together to create my
outlines so I could draw round
it and fill with colour by
selecting an area and going to
pick a colour from the colour
wheel and using the paint
bucket fill tool to fill the full
area. I just coloured the full
thing in with the pen tool as
the brush tool feathered too
much so wouldn’t be always
in the line and could be in
accurate.
5. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you
include in your final product?
• I will be including the colour usage with the
bright colours and how I link colours as I want
my magazine to flow nicely so if the colours all
coordinate well it will make the magazine look
like it works. I also want to take away the
confidence and strong look that my text and
images of my experiments use.
