2. Process
I started out by writing the title and
putting bar code in so I could start
positioning of my magazine. At this
stage I didnât know exactly what I was
wanting to do with my title and the style
as I had an idea but wasnât sure if this
was going to work with my images so I
left the title very basic till I had an idea
to what my images would be looking
like. I knew what the title was going to
be called so that helped when I was
thinking about spacing and size of
lettering.
3. ProcessAt this point I was trying out different ways of
making the title look different even though I didnât
use the cage mesh over the title at the end I
thought that this would make a good look but as I
discovered what my images would look like I
decided that it wouldnât work.
I did this title by using the text tool to type my text
up, from this point I double clicked on the layer on
the side of the page to bring up options on
changing the title. I decided to add a back drop in
black and added noise to the drop back so it
looked rough like metal. I then got a cage off the
internet with a white background so that I could
cut it out and put it over the title. I cut it out by
selecting the white areas and deleting it.
I then moved onto writing the cover lines of the
magazine I just left these in a minimal text as I was
only doing it to fill in the areas till I got my images
onto the page.
4. Process
At this point I moved onto the double page spread
so that I could get all my writing done before I
added my images as I knew I had a week of not
been able to get my images so I made sure I got all
the text down first.
I started by going onto layout and selecting guide
lines and creating my guides, I chose 4 columns
and 3 rows. I had already pre written my text so all
I had to do was draw a text box and copy the text I
had already written on word into the text box. I
decided to use the text from my title of the
magazine on the titles of the double page spread
to make a link and to also make them fit my style. I
downloaded the text off the internet as the text
the computer had already wasnât what I wanted. I
put my text into long columns at this inner edge of
my left page so I could put a title up into the left
top corner on the left page. The main tools I used
in this were text box and the moving tool.
I then decided I wanted the title to stand out as
much as possible and again link to the front page
of the magazine, so I coloured the titles with red
and added a quote over the other page where the
main large image will be. I changed the colour by
highlighting my selected area and using the colour
wheel to change it to my chosen colour red.
5. Process At this point I had collected my images and had
chosen exactly what I wanted my text to look like. I
used the copy and paste tool to insert my image
from the desktop to photoshop. When I added my
images I changed the saturation of the background
of the image to make the wall darker than the actual
image as it was too red in the original image I also
enhanced the model by darkening the shadows on
his body so it made the muscles stand out more and
look more defined.
The cover lines I wrote previously I changed to the
text I chose earlier and I added a white stroke over it
to make it stand out over the darker background. I
didnât this by double clicking on the layer and
adding stroke and moving the slider to a size
appropriate for the text. I t4hen added a web
address and date to the magazine underneath the
title I used the ruler tool to make sure all my text
was equal and wasnât out of line on the edges. I also
moved the bar code and added a price to the
bottom left of the page as it was out the way and
not interfering as much as it would if it was on the
other side.
