administrative headquarters of
Bulandshahr District.

INTRODUCTION
4. Bulandshahr District is in the
Division of Meerut and Aligarh
of Uttar Pradesh , located
between Ganga and Yumana
rivers. This is situated between
28.4 south and 28.0 north
latitude and between 77.0 and
78.0 longitude.
The District is about 84 km in
length and 62 km in breadth. The
district is 237.44 meters above
sea level. It situated in north U.P.
at 64 km from Delhi.

The history of Bulandshahr
begins even before 1200 BCE.
This region is close to the
capital of the Pandvas-
Indraprastha and Hastinapur.
After the decline of Hastinapur
Ahar, which is stuated in the
north-east part of Bulandshahr
District, became an important
place for Pandvas. Later the
King Parma made a fort in this
part of region.
6. A Tomar king named Ahibaran
laid the foundation of a fort called
Bran here and established his
capital .
It was traditional called Barn City
and only recently came to be
called Bulandshahr in official
usages.
Since it was perched on a
highland it came to be known as
“ high city” , which translates as
Bulandshahr in Persian
language.

7. GEOGRAPHY AND LAYOUT
The city is located on the right bank of the Kali-Nadi
River. The portion of the city on the bluffs was called
Bulandshahr and the portion on the river bank was called
Unchanagar.
Bulandshahr city is divided into two police districts,
Kotwali Nagar (Urban) and Kotwali Dehat (Rural). King
Ahibaran's tower which is still called Baran, remains a
local landmark.

16. SIKANDRABAD INDUSTRIALAREA
A neighboring town, Sikandrabad, is the only UPSIDC (UP State
Industries Development Corporation) Industrial area in
Bulandshahr district.
A large number of medium to small scale industries are situated in
this area.
Some of these are Kajaria Ceramics, Orient Ceramics, Goodluck
Pipes, Vishal Pipes, OTR Papers Pvt Ltd and Mouri yeasts.
There are also a large number of industries making Chlorinated
Paraffin Wax (CPW).
The exports from this industrial area generate over Rs. 2.5 billion
annually.

Bulandshahr is also famous for
its dairy farms. The milk produced
here is mainly exported
to Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan .

Each year during March and April,
Bulandshahr hosts an exhibition a
popular event for the people of
Bulandshahr district.

It started in 1881 by King
Ahibaran .

resulted in rapid development of Bulandshahr and in the
general improvement of the standard of its city life.
