Any different of hotel requires some kind of
equipment to run that particular department
efficiently.
Front Office Equipments are mainly classified in 3
segments:-
Fully Automatic Equipments
Semiautomatic Equipments
Manual & General Equipments
4. Fully Automatic Equipments
Credit Card Validator:-
It is automated Front Office Equipments used by
Front Office Cashier to check the validity of a credit
card.
Call Accounting System:-
It is called APBX(Automated Private Branch In
Change). It is used in telephone exchange section of
Front Office Department.
5. Fax Machine:-
Full foam of Fax is Facsimile Automated Xerox
Machine. It is important electronic equipment in
Front Desk for purpose of communication and used to
received or send official documents.
Computer:-
Almost all the hotels of the world are using computer
these days for successful operation of the hotel. It is
very essential equipment where we can feed various
data and information.
6. Semiautomatic Equipments
Posting Machine:-
It is very essential equipment used in front office for
posting the various charges in accounts of the guest. It
is used to calculate the total’s of the guest accounts.
Cash Register:-
It is Semi-automated Equipment used by front desk
such as stamped, newspapers, candy etc.
7. Credit Card Imprinter:-
Mostly used by front office cashier at the time of arrival
when guest presents the credit card to the cashier as
the mode of payment of the hotel bills.
Wake-up Calls:-
In this all wake-up request from guests are feed into
the times monitoring, do to time, room no. , name of
guest and the telephone of the particular room
automatically rings at the mentioned time thus
waking-up the guest.
8. Manual & General Equipments
Room Rack:-
It is a large wooden frame work rack located behind
the front desk. It contains large no. of room rack slips
for suring the reservations and house keeping status of
each guest rooms of a hotel.
Information Rack:-
It is an important device present at the front desk
which contains all the required information of in-
house guests in an alphabetical order.
9. Folio Bucket:-
This is an important equipment used in front desk
cash section. This equipment contains a large no. of
slots where the folio are arranged sequentially
according to the room no.
Key Rack:-
It is wooden or metal frame work rack present the
front desk. It contains many slots used for keeping the
keys of the guest room in sequential order for the guest
rooms.
