The building was built in 1958 by the
Greek Army to serve as a royal
pavilion. Today the first floor houses
offices, and the ground floor is a
museum. The museum contains
collections of the Early Christian and
Byzantine period.
43. Fethiye Mosque
It is located in the place which
was considered the position of the
Byzantine cathedral of Archangel
Michael, patron of the city.
After 1430 the first wooden
mosque was built with the
nickname "Fethiye Mosque"
(mosque of the conquest).

failed revolutionary
movements of
Dionysios the
Philosopher, a
mosque made mostly
by lead was erected.
In 1795, Ali Pasha
rebuilt it, giving it its
present form.
