Hot fuzz word

Mise En Scene
The movie hot fuzz is based in a small town where he has been transferred to from
the head police offices London. The costumes used are the typical police uniforms
including the hat and the brightly coloured jacket, and for the village people they are
dressed in everyday clothes. This may be because film is based in and ordinary
town so the costumes are to show that everybody is normal, which makes it harder
for the audience to point out who the killer could be. It is easy to see that the film is
set in the 21st century, straight away from the opening of the movie you can see
him entering the modernly built building and a policeman’s professional working
environment.
Cinematography
The lighting in this film is dark with a hint of blue that is typical for many action films.
You then get to see a montage of his hardship working as a top policeman so the
audience gets a sense of how professional and serious he is. The camera is
constantly in motion creating a sense of pace and action which is very important for
the opening scene of the movie because it excites the viewers. There also is a
strong use of shadows which creates a gritty effect leaving it with a modern
atmosphere, suiting the thriller, action, comedy theme.
Sound
Along with non-diegetic voiceover of Nicolas Angel, the non-diegetic music starts with
a heavy rhythmical drum beat, and this carries on until we enter the scene of Angel
at the College of Police Training when it builds a bit more. We hear the short sound
of a whistle being blown (perhaps as a subtle representation of the school-like
discipline in the Police training) and then some sort of stringed instrument repeating
the same short tune. When cutting into the action-packed scene, as we see the squad
running through the punch bags and then trudging through an urban area where
bombs are being thrown, we hear the sound of heavy footsteps and men shouting,
creating a highly chaotic atmosphere.
Editing
The sirens gradually get louder and build a bit of tension until they suddenly cut off
as the camera cuts into a long shot of a corridor, and at the very end is a dark figure
coming towards us. The sound now is only diegetic as we can hear this person’s
footstep and the automatic double doors opening and closing. Although this long shot
of the corridor is quite long in duration, it builds tension around this mysterious
character. This is because first of all we cannot properly see the character until he
finally comes close to the camera. The sound now is only diegetic as we can hear
