4133850-266700A-team
Overview
One of the main characters Colonel Hannibal Smith is captured and interrogated in a barn in the middle of a desert and is being interrogated by two men working for a man which Hannibal owes money to so the two interrogators have been ordered to take him into the middle of nowhere in the deserts to get the money, teach him and lesson and beat him up and then kill him. But the A team being the A team and Hannibal being Hannibal there is always a plan and he gets out of the situation and gets his revenge.
Camera angles
There are a lot of high angle shots looking down at the area which appears to be where the action is going to happen. Almost as if the area is being stalked by a helicopter and the camera is attached to the bottom looking at the area below which makes the audience wonder what is down there and makes them want to get down there and see. There are many worms’ eye view shots almost spying on what is going on below. There are also many over the shoulder shots of the characters suggesting a lot of convosations or interrogations. The long shots show most things in the shot so that the audience can see everything going on. There are a lot of close ups showing the facial reactions of the characters which can make the audience laugh due to the faces they can make. There are also low angle shots of the camera looking up and other actors suggesting that, that character is more powerful and more in control or intimidating. The camera mans the area and shows everything in the room and what’s going on then the camera tracks two characters leaving the room almost following them to see where they are going so the audience see everything going on and what’s happening.
Mise en scene
The costume in this opening are all dirty clothing due to it taking place inside a dessert where your clothes would clearly get dirty, the clothing is also un tidy ripped and old looking. There are a few weapons in the scene which are made noticed by the zooms and close ups of the weapons. They are important due to them giving certain characters power but due to them both not working they are made and seen as not a danger anymore. The setting is a rundown dirty old looking barn in the middle of the desert. The barn is clearly UN used anymore by the structure being clearly broken and derelict. The characters that are interrogating the man are not worried and seem totally in control and not worried at all about the man that they are interrogating and feel that there is nothing to worry about and laughing and smiling. Whereas the man being interrogated also appears to be relaxed by just sitting there showing no emotion.
Shot Transitions/Editing
There are many fast quickly passed cuts in the opening to give it a fast passed atmosphere, most of the transitions are cuts quickly changes wrong one shot to another. There is one fade as you which from the high angle shot in the air to the worms eye view in the base in which the high angle shot was surrounding.
Ideology
This opening makes you think to yourself weather Hannibal will make it out and if you think he will make it out it makes you think how will he get out of the situation and what he will do to get out of it. So it makes the audience think weather he will get out and if so how will he do it due to the situation looking hard to get out of due to the interrogators being the ones in complete control.
The target audience
4229100956945The target audience for this film could be teenagers and twenty year olds due to it being a funny film and also full of action lots of explosions which most teenagers and twenty year olds like. The target will also be mainly boys because most of the things that happen in and during the film are mainly things that boys/men will enjoy more than women. But most ages could enjoy this film due to the film being a newer version of a TV program which was on years ago so older people may enjoy this film too due to them enjoying the old TV program.
Don’t mess with the Zohan
Overview
The main character Zohan is on his day off from his job which is a counter terrorist, so he goes to the beach where everyone knows him because what he has done. He does many things to show off to the crowds of people who watch him even including tug of war with and bull and he win. So he is relaxing with his friends on his day off and the army come in a helicopter and tell him he has to go back to work straight away.
Camera angles
Scene begins with and long high angle shot of a beach as if it is on a helicopter the zooming and getting closer to the beach. The camera then cuts to a medium shot of the bottom half of the Zohan the main character which is done to make the audience laugh. The camera then zooms out to see his whole body and loads of people cheering and following him also designed and done for the audience’s amusement. Then a close ups of his face then the camera cuts back to the medium shot but then zooms back due to more people coming up to him from now different angles. There is then a point of view shot of what he is seeing of all this which gives the audience an idea of what he’s seeing and then the camera pans as it follows him around. There is a wide range of medium shots close ups and long shots and the camera zooms and pans as he is doing the skill so we can see everything he does from every angle.
Mise en scene
There are a lot of bright colours in the clothing which suggest it’s a comedy because brighter colours make you feel happy and the more dull colours make you feel sad so its creates and nicer, calmer and relaxed atmosphere with the bright colours. He is dressed and looks funny which adds to the comedy conventions because he looks funny. When it goes to the POV of the Zohan you see what he is seeing which a load of people in stupid is over the top costumes which you normally wouldn’t wear to a beach. The props in this opening include a mini football which he is playing with and does amazing skill with to impress everyone. The setting is a brightly coloured packed out beach in some warm country were everyone is relaxed and just enjoying themselves.
Shot transitions/editing
There are most cuts in the opening but they are not quick fast cuts they are slowly and allow each shot to last longer. This is the case due to it being a comedy and when you go to see a comedy you want to laugh and relax so longer time spaces between cuts creates that relaxed atmosphere.
Target audience
4238625890905The target audience is more the younger generation due to some of the jokes and some of the things he does younger people would only understand. The film is almost silly so older adults may not find it to funny due to them thinking it is stupid whereas younger people would find it a lot more funny. I believe that this film is for both men and women but if anything it is slightly more for men with some of the jokes and what happens during the film with the guns and girls etc. But saying that there is love and romance in it as well so women can enjoy it too.
Hot fuzz
Overview
The police officer Nicholas angel is one of the best police officers in the unit and the opening of the film shows you him at his best. Going through training both physical and mental and showing him pass both with ease, this also shows how well known he is by not only people at the police station but members of the public by it showing in some shots him talking and helping members of the public so he appears in the opening of the film that he is a great police officer but it makes you want to continue you watching because he is too good so you think something will happen to him as a result in this.
Camera angles
There is a long shot to open the opening of the film with Nicholas Angel one of the main characters walking down a long character, these long shots are used a lot in this film due to it showing the audience everything in the shot. The camera stays still in the opening shot which lasts for 30 seconds as we walks down the lobby. There are also a few worms eye view shots of his feet as the quickly pass around the police station could suggest to the audience that he is in a rush. There are a mixture of medium shots from all different angles and close ups on certain objects on his uniform to suggest significant. There is a lot of panning as the scene goes on as he is training as a police officer. There are many close ups, medium shots and long shots at all different angles in quick succession which allow us to see everything going on. The camera zooms in and out a lot showing us different angles and bring significance to some shots and taking it away from others. There are so many camera angles and all different angles in the opening to hot fuzz suggesting that there is so much to see and it allows the audience to see it all.
Shot transitions/ editing
There are so many cuts in such quick concession which doesn’t allow a shot to last more than a few seconds apart from the first shot. This could suggest that this is a passed filled film that will leave you at the edge of your seat. The director Edgar Wright tends to do this a lot by having lots of quick shots put together first from far out the quickly changing the shot till it is zoomed it on that object Edgar Wright also director of (Shaun of the dead) which is very similar to hot fuzz. There are also many wipes in this scene quickly wiping from one shot to another.
Mise en scene
The mise en scene in this shot is all the costumes are strict police uniform to show discipline and how you should dress when you are a police officer which is smart and correct due to you leading by example to society. The setting is first in a police station where everything is tidy and in place and that everything is right which suggest these are clean tidy and respectful officers that do everything by the book and do it all right and well. The other setting is the streets of London where you see him helping people out on the job talking to old women and helping them out. The props on this scene include weapons due to it being a police station and there is also this such as desks test papers pens which suggest that they are smart and know what they are doing.
Target Audience
The target audience will be younger people due to the type of humour that it is and that maybe some older people may not find it as funny, it will be mainly for men due to it being funny and there being lots of guns fired and big explosions which tend to draw in the male audience over the female audience.
