3. The masthead is at the top of the page so
that it fits codes and conventions of a DPS,
the mast head is positioned in the top right
hand corner so the audience know which
magazine this article is a part of. It is in a
small font which again is a convention of a
DPS.
The date, time and channel is Cleary stated at the top of
the page next to the masthead. These are at the top so
they're easy to locate, these are here so that the audience
can easily find out when and where to watch the
documentary if they decide they want to watch it.
The drop cap is used at the start of the
article to follow the codes and conventions,
a drop cap is used to captivate the
audiences attention and lure them into
reading the article.
The article is split into columns, this is so that
the text is spread out and not in a large chunk
of writing which would put the audience off
because they'd get bored. We followed the
codes and conventions of DPS here.
A pull quote is a quote chosen from the
article which is in a larger font than the rest
of the text. This is used to show exciting
and the most interesting parts of the text,
this draws the audience into reading the
article and it will engage them.
I have used 4 main images instead of
just one. I did this as I felt it was
effective having 4 main focuses to look
at. I also did this to reinforce the topic
of our documentary as the 4 images are
edited to make it look as if they're
wearing branded clothing. Therefor we
challenged codes and conventions by
having 4 main images instead of one
and having no secondary images as
they would have been overpowered by
the main images.
The headline is at the top of the page. I used
a font which I felt would engage the
audience, I used black and red as the font
color as I felt these went well together on a
grey background. There is a drop shadow
begging the ‘BROKE’ to make it stand off
from the page. I used a large font to follow
codes and conventions and I positioned it at
the top of the page. The title would be one of
the main focuses of the
The stand first is before the article, we did this to
follow codes and conventions of DPS’s. a stand
first is a small summary of the article which the
audience is about to read. It gives the audience a
heads up so that they can decide weather they
want to continue reading.
Credits are included which is a typical feature of a
TV listing DPS. The credits are used to let the
audience know who the interviewer was and who
photographed the images.
The page numbers are small and in the bottom corners
of the page. They're in this place and small so they
follow the conventions of DPS’s. page numbers are
important so that the audience can find the page that
they want by looking at the corresponding page number
on the contents page of a magazine.
I chose to use a clear colour scheme of grey, red and black. I think
that these colours work really well as the black and grey are
professional and neutral which helps to make the DPS clear and east
to understand and it also makes the text easy to read. And the red
gives the DPS some colour so its not boring, the red also help to make
this stand out and engage the audience and make them want to read.
4. Headline is at the top of the page to tell the
audience what the page is about, it is in a large
font so that it is one of the main focuses of the
page. It has to stand out to catch the audiences
attention.

The main images are the main focus of the
DPS which is what will enage an audience as it
one of the first things they will notice on the
page. It is important for the mian images to be
big so that they stand out. The main image has
to link with the article and it has to be
anchored so that the audience can decide
weather they want to read the article or not.
A clear colour scheme is important for a DPS as it has to engage
an audience and suit them, the colours used has to be aimed at a
certain target audience and there cant be too many colors
otherwise it would be too confusing.

9. Codes and conventions we used in our radio advert were the date time and channel that our documentary is on tv, a
clip from an expert inerview, a music bed, sound effects, voice over and it was a minute long. We chose to stick to
codes and conventions to make it simple and make it seem more real and proffesional. We chose to use humour
throughout the radio to engage and enteraine our audience. This is similar to real radio adverts as they are short and
down to the point and they catch the audiences attention and engage them to make them want to watch the
documentary.
