The Climatic Conditions Of Nepal
Abstract– Climatic conditions of Nepal vary from one place to another in accordance with the geographical features. Climate change is changing our
economy, health and communities in diverse ways. The effects of rising temperatures are not only melting glaciers and sea ice, it's also shifting
precipitation patterns and setting animals on the move. The erratic rainfalls and increase in frequency of extreme events such as floods and drought.
Most of the big rivers of Nepal are glacier–fed and its main resources of water and hydroelectricity will be seriously affected due to the ongoing
changes in glacier reserves, snowfall and natural hazards. Nepal is largely a mountainous country and current indications are that the mountain regions
are more vulnerable due to increased warming trends high variation in altitude with in very short distances. These alarming trends not only make
Nepal 's major sectors of economy such as agriculture, tourism and energy more vulnerable but also endanger the health, safety and wellbeing of
Nepali people. The main objective of the study is to identify the impacts of climate change on the development paradigm of the country in context of
water resources. The prophecy behind this study is to add the future development of Nepal regarding poverty alleviation, social equity, security and
welfare. The climate change trends and its impacts may differ in various local regions, it has affected Nepal with less monsoonal rains across the high

The Intertropical Convergence Zone Plays a Large Role in...
The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is a permanent low–pressure feature that lies on the meteorological equator. It is characterisied by lots of
cloud cover and precipitation (Andrews et al., 2003). The ITCZ plays a significant role in the climate and weather events in the tropics. The clouds
created by the ITCZ also provide an important form of albedo in the tropics (Waliser and Gautier, 1993),which has an effect on globalclimate. Tropical
events such as monsoon and cyclones occur in the ITCZ and are products of the unique convection system found around the ITCZ (Yancheva et al.,
2007, Ferreira and Schubert, 1997).The ITCZ is a product of humid trade winds from the northern and southern hemisphere converging and then rising.
This rising of humid air usually results in precipitation over the tropics(Waliser and Somerville, 1994). This rising of the humid air acts as the driving
force in the Hadley Cell (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ is a product of high levels of solar radiation and high amounts of latent heat
released from the ocean (Andrews et al., 2003). It is important to realize that the ITCZ moves throughout the year depending on the seasons, it is likely
to be found in the southern hemisphere in the southern hemisphere summer and in the northern hemisphere during the northern hemispheres summer.
However the ITCZ is more likely to be found in the Northern hemisphere (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ plays a large role in many of the

DISCUSSION
HISTORICAL FIRE REGIME
LIGHTNING
Before Aboriginal and European settlement, lightning was the primary natural source of fire, especially in tropical parts of Australia (Kohen, 1996).
These lightning–caused bushfires have drastically shaped the landscape and its vegetation. Plants have developed different adaptations to tolerate these
fires and in turn contributed to the natural diversity in the area. The Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans) trees growing in forests east of Melbourne
are great examples of a tree species adapted to bushfires. These trees are usually killed by intense fire but their seeds germinate fast in the ash bed left
behind by the fire (Museum Victoria, n.d.).
The city of Melbourne historically had a mix of grass, scrub, and trees in its landscape due to its relatively flat terrain and its low elevation. Like the
rest of the state of Victoria, lightning has played an important role in shaping ecosystems and affecting different vegetation types.
ABORIGINAL FIRES
Fire events have increased ever since the Aboriginals have occupied the landscape about 40,000 years ago (Lindenmayer & Burgman, 2005). They used
fire to their advantage and helped change the landscape in addition to lightning.

Natural Disasters And Natural Causes Of Floods In Malaysia
Given Malaysia's geographical location, most floods that occur are a natural result of cyclical monsoons during the local tropical wet season that are
characterised by heavy and regular rainfall from roughly October to March. Inadequate drainage in many urban areas also enhance the effects of heavy
rain, though efforts are underway to resolve this. Floods are regular natural disasters in Malaysia which happen nearly every year during the monsoon
season the latest serious hit was in the east coast during end of 2014 and early 2015.With up to 200,000 peoples affected and 21 killed, it was
described as the worst flood in decades. It also took more than a year for flood victims in certain states to recover and return to their normal lives. The
geographical location of Malaysia makes it experience two monsoon seasons, the Southwest Monsoon and Northeast Monsoon. The monsoons bring
more rain resulting in regular floods every year. Although flash flood only happens for a short amount of time, the damage done is very significant,
there have already been three events of flash flood within the month. It happened in Klang, Shah Alam, and Teluk Bahang.
The flash flood in Klang was reported to occur after two hours of heavy rain, leading the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) officials to
manually open the water gate at Jalan Banting in Pandamaran to reduce the flood water level .The same thing happened at Shah Alam when a
continuous two hours of heavy rain led to flash floods at

Essay about Climate and Society of China
Climate and Society of China
Monsoons, Flooding & Droughts
Believe it or not, there is a direct correlation between weather, climate and society. Since the first civilizations of the world, these three themes have
affected one another. Weather has influenced civilizations in terms of the clothing and shelter which are necessary to protect oneself from the elements.
On the other extreme, climate and weather have also acted as positive factors in the case of areas such as Cancun, Mexico. Continuous exceptional
weather conditions have molded this area into a vacation Eden to which millions flock throughout the year to escape their own respective
meteorologically disadvantaged (e.g. cold, snowy, rainy) regions. Through an intense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most prominent examples of such seasonal winds occur in southern Asia and in Africa.
The monsoons that plague China are caused by a variety of factors, mainly because of contrasting temperatures between the Pacific Ocean and the
Chinese continent. This temperature disparity is exaggerated with the changing of seasons as land temperatures fluctuate more rapidly than those of
water.21 H.H. Lamb argues in Climate, History and the Modern World that the latitude of Southeast Asia also plays a factor in the prevalence of
monsoons affecting China.22
Like many cultures throughout the world, China relies upon agriculture for much of its subsistence. This crop reliance presents a tedious situation
because of the massive issues accompanying a crop failure. Prior to the sophisticated irrigation techniques available today, agriculture was very reliant
on consistent rainfall for its survival. In China, droughts occurred from time to time depending on the climate in the time between monsoon seasons, and
these rainless periods devastated crop yields. On the other hand, the monsoon period and flooding sometimes brought too much rain, destroying crops
as well. Accompanying these droughts, floods and crop failures were the resulting famines which left many impoverished. In the mid–twentieth century
the Chinese were finally able to deal better with the droughts and famine by importing vast quantities of grain and other

North American Monsoon
Monsoon is traditionally defined as a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation,[1] but is now used to describe
seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea.[2] [3] Usually, the term
monsoon is used to refer to the rainy phase of a seasonally–changing pattern, although technically there is also a dry phase.
The major monsoon systems of the world consist of the West African and Asia–Australian monsoons. The inclusion of the North and South American
monsoons with incomplete wind reversal may be debated.
The term was first used in English in British India (now India, Bangladesh and Pakistan) and neighbouring countries to refer to the ... Show more

Additionally, the specific heat capacity of liquid water is significantly higher than that of most materials that make up land. Together, these factors
mean that the heat capacity of the layer participating in the seasonal cycle is much larger over the oceans than over land, with the consequence that
the air over the land warms faster and reaches a higher temperature than the air over the ocean. The hot air over the land tends to rise, creating an area
of low pressure. This creates a steady wind blowing toward the land, bringing the moist near–surface air over the oceans with it.[14] Similar rainfall is
caused by the moist ocean air being lifted upwards by mountains,[15] surface heating,[16] convergence at the surface,[17] divergence aloft, or from
storm–produced outflows at the surface.[18] However the lifting occurs, the air cools due to expansion in lower pressure, which in turn produces
condensation.
In winter, the land cools off quickly, but the ocean retains heat longer. The cold air over the land creates a high pressure area which produces a
breeze from land to ocean.[14] Monsoons are similar to sea and land breezes, a term usually referring to the localized, diurnal (daily) cycle of
circulation near coastlines, but they are much larger in scale, stronger and seasonal.[19]

The Environmental Issue Of The Wildfires
What is the single most environmental issue that is plaguing the eastern half of the world? The raging fires in Indonesia and Asia. These fires are
releasing more CO2 and other toxic chemicals in a few months than most countries do all year. The fires are also producing a thick smoky haze that
is clouding the entire area. What is the exact cause of this problem? Scientists are quick to point out several causes, but one that is standing out is the
defiant act of setting ablaze fields for the use of farmland.
The Indonesian government has taken a stand against the fire, but has done nothing to actually stop the farmers from destroying the land. The
actual problem is that the farmers are burning their land to make way for their crops. The farmers not only set the fires in the first place, but also
chop down trees to make land open for crops. This deforestation adds to the problem because they just let the trees lay and the wood tries and is
perfect kindling for the fires. This logging for the way of plantations is one cause that is leading the way. The government has no real reason to stop
the farmers because they are bringing in the money for the country. This use of fire is a ?cheap and often illegal way of clearing land.? (http:/
/forests.lic.wisc.edu/ric/wrr37/fires.htm) This shows the blahtent disregard for nature and the entire community. If the farmers only had the means to
clear their land in a way that didn?t cause such a destructive effect on the earth there wouldn?t

A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly
understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to
the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these
systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such
as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical
capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for
nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward
looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and
timing of climate change's impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not
model the stochastic nature of the climate and economic systems. Recent work, such as that of Cai

Economic Impact Of The Indian Ocean Trade
From 120 BCE to the 16th century, trade was a remarkable part of the Eastern Hemisphere. It played a vital role in the kingdoms and city–states that
made up all of what the 21st century calls Europe, Asia, and Africa. Trade was critically important in this time period because of the diverse climate
that was scattered all across the continent. Due to the climate, every location had different resources that were provided by nature. Without specific
resources, specific goods could not be manufactured. Not only that, but since technology was not as advanced as it is now, specific products were not
able to exist in areas. The only way to obtain those products was to trade. Two of the many routes that a merchant could use to trade were the Silk
Road and the Sea Roads along the Indian Ocean. Of those two roads, the Indian trade route had the most positive impact around the world. It facilitated
the trading of mass goods since rather than using animals to transport goods, they used boats. It also provided a type of wind known as Monsoon wind
that merchants could benefit from. Finally, the Indian Ocean trade route stretched out at a greater distance than the silk road, which impacted the
goods that could be traded. Overall, the Indian Ocean trade route had the best impact in the Eastern Hemisphere and even the world. One of the most
significant reasons why the trade route through the Indian Ocean had the most positive impact around the world is because it allowed merchants to

Monsoon Wedding Film Analysis
The film Monsoon Wedding, directed by Mira Nair is an intriguing film about Punjabi culture. Produced in thirty days, it shows five different stories
and how they develop. Some develop into love stories and have a happy ending. For one it shows the horrible disgusting reality of life. Throughout the
film, it shows the innocent, harmless love, then as the film comes closer to the end, it becomes a dark reality that the audience has to realize happens
to Ria Verma and Aylia Verma.
Ria is an ordinary woman, who has dreams and aspirations. Ria is living with Lalit and Pimmi Verma who are her uncle and aunty, because Ria's father
has died. The audience first comes across Ria when she is in the taxi talking to Aditi about her arranged marriage.'So what do you do? Get married to
some guy selected by Mummy and Daddy, you've barely known him for a week'. This statement shows that she is fully against the idea of Aditi getting
an arranged marriage . When the family is having the celebrations of the wedding Tej first walks in the room with a big smile on his face greeting
everyone then the camera quickly turns to Ria and zooms into her face. The look on her face is like she has just seen a ghost and showed she is
scared. The audience starts to realize that there has been something going on with him and her, but the audience doesn't understand what has happened.

Australia has extreme heat and dust that makes their climate hot too. Cold – Within the United States, Alaska, and most of the northern states are
known to very cold during the winters, and become less traveled and not as preferred as the warmer climates. Outside the United States, Canada, and
Greenland have very cold winters. In Greenland they may never see summer. Conclusion Hot and cold are very different types of weather. They can
adjust to both as long as they are not extreme. The difference is that they can only cool themself down inside where there are air–conditioning systems
in the extreme heat. As long as they are prepared, with the right clothing, they can stay outside. Both climates require hydration, but it becomes
magnified in the heat. My preference is the cold. I can always put more clothing on to keep warm, but I will not be doing any exercising in it. I could
not do them in the heat anyway. The heat just makes me feel like not doing anything. I enjoy the cold weather sports, maybe because as I mentioned,
the heat makes one lazy. Living in a hot climate may be the reasons for my preference.

Abstract– Climatic conditions of Nepal vary from one place to another in accordance with the geographical features. The country receives almost 80%
of its annual rainfall during monsoon season. The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is very likely human–induced
and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented in the past 1,300 years. Climate change is changing our economy, health and communities in diverse
ways. The effects of rising temperatures are not only melting glaciers and sea ice, it's also shifting precipitation patterns and setting animals on the
move. The main objective of the study is to identify the impacts of climate change on the development paradigm of the country in context of water
resources. The prophecy behind this study is to add the future development of Nepal regarding poverty alleviation, social equity, security and welfare.

Study of past geomorphic responses to similar climate changes can provide clues regarding how the region's watersheds will be affected by ongoing
global warming, making this study's findings relevant to land managers.
One weakness of the Intragovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports is a limited understanding of how modern societies can best adapt to
rapid climate change (Van de Noort, 2011). Archaeology can contribute a broad–based understanding of the adaptive capacities and pathways of past
communities faced with rapid climate change, as well as the possible cultural ramifications of various adaptive strategies. This insight is important for
devising effective strategies for modern communities to successfully deal with the consequences of ongoing rapid climate change. An improved grasp
of the interelationships between climate, geomorphology, and culture in the Carrizo Wash watershed can contribute to this larger understanding.

Urbanisation Is An Integral Part Of The Economic Development
Urbanisation is an integral part of the economic development. The global economic growth, poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability and
quality of life are largely determined by the extent of urbanisation. In the past few decades urban areas in the world have experienced inadequate
infrastructure, rising population and the social problems like poverty, growth of informal settlement and environmental problems accruing it. These
problems in turn poses serious problems to sustainable development in the present and future. Moreover many cities in the world have become the
hotspot of vulnerability due to climate change and variability and are susceptible to extreme and recurrent weather events. Most of the urban areas, in
recent decades, have been facing extreme weather events and subsequent damages and loss of lives caused due these extreme events. Extreme event in
its wake severely affect economic development and poverty alleviation and has the potential to drastically alter the development trajectory of the city
and the areas surrounding it. In addition to physical, social and economic vulnerabilities in such cities is the low adaptive capacity with constraints on
physical, financial and human resources. Therefore the assessment of vulnerability to extreme and recurrent weather events of the city is an imperative
for the vulnerability and exposure determines the extent of adaptation and coping capacity of the communities in the periphory of the cities.

There are many reasons that you should shrink wrap your boat. Shrink wrapping your boat is one of the best things that you can do to protect it from
harsh weather. Hail, ice, snow and rain can damage your boat. On the other hand, these things do not have any effect on the shrink wrap. Your boat
will not suffer any damage if it has been properly shrink wrapped.
Keep in mind that extreme weather is one of the biggest threats to your boat. The ultraviolet rays from the sun can also cause damage to your boat.
Shrink wrapping will provide your boat with ultraviolet ray protection.
A boat that is shrink wrapped will also last a lot longer than one that has not been shrink wrapped. You will be able to save money if you shrink wrap
your boat. Because

The Costly Damage of Flooding
Floods are the most costly and damaging natural disaster in the world (Berz, 2000). The determination of streamflow (stage or discharge) at a river
station plays an important role in environmental and water resources management. Flood routing, a basis for flood forecasting, is the process of
determining progressively the timing and shape of a flood wave at successive points along a river reach. Approaches for flood routing have been
based either on hydraulic (process approach) or hydrologic (conceptual or system approach). Hydrologic stream routing is based on the storage
concept, and conversely, hydraulic channel routing is based on the principles of mass and momentum conservation. In predicting a particular
hydrograph on its passage through a river reach, any flood modeling will involve a number of assumptions and simplifications. For many rivers,
topographic information neither exit nor are readily available and consequently the use of dynamic models has some limitations (Barati, 2013). In
addition, a close match between the observed flow rates and the computed ones is difficult to achieve with such techniques if some parameters used
along a reach are not accurate. While high demands on computer resources, as well as on the quantity and quality of input data, restrict the efficiency of
hydraulic models in practical applications, approximate models produce satisfactory results at considerably less expense with a limitation in their
generality and accuracy depending on the

Monsoon Wedding Essay
Monsoon wedding"(2007), an award winning movie, directed by mira nair. Features widely known Indian actors, such as Vasundhara Das, Naseeruddin

The film is based on the autobiographical account of Mira Nair's own family.( Manish Gajjar 2002) It is about a stressed father, a bride–to–be with a
secret, a smitten events coordinator, and relatives from around the world who create much ado about the preparations for an arranged marriage in India

The Marigold flower is one of the significant symbols in "Monsoon Wedding" and is shown frequently thought out the film.
Marigolds are one of the traditional flowers used in garlands and offerings in South Asia. Known in Hindi as gendha, marigolds are widely used in all
kinds of rites and rituals. It represents and symbolise marriages, celebrations, romance and more (plantcultures 2008). When marigolds were used to
decorate the wedding tent and the garden, this is evidence of their traditional value.
Moreover, the scene of PK Dubey eating a marigold after an encounter with Alice indicates love and passion will grow. Therefore, marigolds are used
to position audiences to understand the concept of love in the film; hence, it represents the importance meaning and value of marriage in Indian culture
and society.
Gender and Class
These two aspects are also one of the key elements in "Monsoon Wedding". The convocation of Varun and his father clearly demonstrate how Nair has
reflects the India caste system (Mrdowling2005) within the movie.
In the film, Varun, the bride's brother, desires to become a chef. It is, however, a disappointment to his father, Lalit. The caste system has prevent Varun
from fulfilling his dream, simply because becoming a chef will lower his status.
In contrast, Nair challenges the dominant caste system by showing the romance between PK Dubey and Alice,

Houseboat Vacation Essay
Taking a vacation isn't just a way to spend time with your family. It gives you a chance to unplug and it's good for your health.
One of the most important and overlooked aspects of a vacation is relaxing. People routinely overschedule their vacations and come back exhausted. A
houseboat vacation offers you a way to avoid the problem.
You spend most of your time out on the water, rather than trying to cram in visits to tourist sites. Even so, there are some things you must deal with
ahead of time to keep your houseboat vacation as relaxing as possible.
Let's jump in and help you plan for relaxation.

Stick with non–perishable versions of items, such as non–dairy or powdered coffee creamer.
Buy and freeze any meat you want ahead of time. You can pack the frozen meat in styrofoam containers with dry ice.
Dry ice can damage your skin, so only handle it with gloves or a thick towel. Tape the containers closed to avoid accidental skin contact.
Stick with fresh fruits and veggies that hold up well at room temperatures, such as apples, carrots, onions, and potatoes.
Linens and Bedding
Always ask the rental company about linens and bedding when planning your houseboat vacation. Some companies provide them, some don't, and
some only provide them with luxury packages.
If possible, assign each person a color of linen. Figuring out which white facecloth belongs to which person after three days is almost impossible.
Think you put enough dish towels in your car for the trip? You didn't. Add some more.
Even if you expect warm weather and bring along sleeping bags, include some fitted sheets. The last thing you want is your face stuck to a vinyl
cushion.
Bring Some Entertainment
While a portable DVD player is probably overkill, you will want some distractions

How Weather Conditions Affects Health and Well
–Being Singapore is an island lying north of the Equator. Because it lies in the tropics, it receives
sufficient sunlight, has mostly uniform temperature and pressure, high humidity and abundant rainfall. Singapore's climate can be categorized into two
main monsoon seasons.
During the Northeast Monsoon season, from December to early March, northeast winds prevail. It is cloudy with frequent afternoon rain in the early
part of this season. From late March to May, winds and showers are present mostly during afternoon and early evening. The Southwest Monsoon
season, from June to September, has more isolated showers in the late morning and early afternoon. From October to November, winds... Show more

Cold weather contracts blood vessels. Hence, heart attacks, migraines, and high blood pressure, caused by constriction of blood vessels and
insufficient blood flow, can be triggered by cold weather. According to research conducted by the New England Center for Headache, as many as half
of all migraines are triggered by weather conditions. This applies for Raynaud's phenomenon where the blood vessels dilate and blood flow is disrupted.
Cold weather increases joint stiffness and affects people with arthritis. Arthritis patients believe that the lower the barometric pressure, the greater the
pain in the joints. An example is that the residents at the North Shore Hotel note when the barometric pressure goes down, their pain goes up. Their
arthritis goes into overdrive before a storm.
Nerve fiber coverings break down more easily, causing Multiple sclerosis to happen more frequently in cold weather. For Fibromyalgia Syndrome, a
1981 survey reported that more than 90% of the patients felt worse in cold and humid weather. Changes in barometric pressure affected those with the
syndrome.
Sinus headaches are caused by barometric pressure as the nasal cavities are not able to adapt quickly to the change in air pressure. Asthma is often
caused by high winds as these bring pollen and particles which some have allergies to.
In our research, we have also found out that sunlight can be both beneficial and harmful to the human body. The

the hospital alone started her on a life long road of being a Smartie Pants. Bonnie Sue Snedeker is also known as Bonnie snot eater by the local bad
boys. She was one of two children being raised by their loving grandmother who just adored them. She was raised in Phoenix, Arizona where the
weather was nice year round, as far as she remembers. At a very you age, she was taught manners and how to respect her elders. She and her older
sister attended church gatherings with their grandmother. It was quite boring for young girls that had no place in speaking unless spoken to. For
small children and situations like this allowed them plenty of time to build their imaginations. Watching and learning were also key in imaginary
play. She knew extremely well when small children were not wanted in the room with adult conversation. That's when she learned to have a love of
being outside. She enjoyed many things that small children enjoyed, but one of her favorites was peeking over the back fence into the Junkman's

Climate Change And Subsistence Farming
2.2Climate Change and Subsistence Farming
Climate change has the potential to transform food production, especially the patterns and productivity of crops, livestock, and fishery systems; and to
reconfigure food distribution, markets, and access (Nelson et al., 2009). Chen et al. (2012) observed that climate change has already had a negative
impact on Asia through extreme temperatures, frequent flooding and droughts, sea level rise, and increased salinity of water supplies for rainfed
agricultural areas. Most Asian countries are quite dependent on their domestic supplies of rice. The International Rice Commission (2003) indicates that
Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam are the major producers of rice, producing more than 70% of the world's volume. The Asian
rice–producing countries tend to consume most of their domestic rice production. Nevertheless, Thailand and Vietnam are able to export some rice to
neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Dasgupta et al. (2009) identified ten developing countries whose land areas
are most exposed to the potential threat of a one–meter rise in sea level. Among the countries most affected by sea level rise are Bangladesh, China,
Taiwan, and Vietnam and these are all rice–growing and rice–consuming countries. Using a partial equilibrium global rice trade model, Chen et al.
(2012) investigated the potential impact of sea level rise combined with climate–induced crop yield change on global rice

India 's Impact On The City Of India
When I think of India I think of such a dry desert place. Two months ago that was not the case for a specific area in India. Chennai, India had
terrible flooding that put a halt to transportation, and some people lost their houses including everything that was inside of them. This natural
disaster took place near the end of last year. The week of November 15th Chennai and its suburbs received on again off again rainfall that lasted
almost an entire week. Very similar situation on November 23rd. At the beginning of November, the Chennai reservoirs were empty, but by the end of
November they were at their max limit. Some houses were already taken over by water. Rain continued to fall the first part of December causing more

The cause of this flood was a winter monsoon. This is why the end of November beginning of December had such heavy rainfall. This area plans on
winter monsoons to fill their main water supplies. They just didn't plan for this much moisture in such a short amount of time. Normal amount of
rainfall for Chennai in a year is 139 centimeters. In 2015 During the same time frame Chennai received 1609 milometers and 1815 milometers (Rela et
al, 2016, p.2). Although 2015's numbers were much larger the major issue is those numbers occurred in only a 4–5 day period compared to almost
three months. The first rainfall which was November 15th caused some light flooding in areas that were low. Rivers, lakes, and marshlands raised
from the first rainfall and did not have time to go back down to their regular levels. Because there was already some flooding from the first amount of
rain everything flooded with the next rainfall. On December 1st parts of Chennai and areas around received 49 centimeters in twenty–four hours. For
the following five days it continued to rain, just not at the same intensity level it did on December first. Monsoons are what fill the water reservoirs
that are west and southwest of Chennai. These reservoirs are what supplies water for agriculture and for the city's water demands. All most all the
moisture they receive in those three months supplies them with drinking water for the year. Kosasthalayar, Cooum, and Adyar are

Global Climate Change: A Threat to Aphid Populations
Abstract
Global climate change is a matter of grave concern in the present scenario casting its significant and lasting effect on the flora and fauna dwelling over
earth. A number of factors such as biotic processes, variations in solar radiation received by earth, plate tectonics, volcanic eruptions certain human
activities can be considered as key components responsible for this devastating phenomenon. Aphid populations are also under potential threat by the
effects caused by the changes in the climatic conditions posing a direct and indirect effect on the predators consuming aphids as food resulting in
overall ecological imbalance.
Keywords: Global climate change, aphids, ecological imbalance.
Global Climate Change
We are now threatened by self–inflicted, swiftly moving environmental shifts whose long–term biological and ecological consequences result in the
depletion of the protective ozone layer, global warming observed in the last 150 years, obliteration of an acre of forest every second, rapid–fire
extinction of species and the prospect of a global nuclear war which can threaten the survival of both plants and animals. There may be other such risks
we are unaware off at present. Individually and cumulatively, these dangers designate the presence of a trap being set for human species. However
principled and lofty the justifications may have been for the activities that brought forth these dangers,

The Philippine Philippines Culture And Culture Essay
The Philippines is a country deeply rooted in culture. The Army defines culture as a "dynamic social system" containing the values, beliefs, behaviors,
and the norms of a "specific group, organization or society or other collectively" learned, shared, internalized, and changeable by all members of the
society (FM 3–24 COUNTERINSURGENCY, 2006). Cultures have different characteristics which consist of shared, learned, symbols, integrated and

1.Introduction
India with its area of 3.28 million sq. km accounts for 2.4% of the world's land surface area and stands as the seventh largest country in the world. India
is second most populous country in the world with above 1.3 billion which containing 17.5% of world population. The size and population of India
has endowed her with excessive physical as well as economic diversity. More than 50% of rural population in India depend upon agriculture and allied
activities for their livelihood. Agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry, contributes 16.11 % to the Indian Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Therefore India has concern about climate change issues because of its large population who depends upon climate sensitive activity like agriculture
for their livelihood, water storage in the Himalayan glaciers which are the source of major rivers and groundwater recharge. Possible changes in
temperature, precipitation and CO2 concentration are expected to significantly impact crop growth and agricultural productivity.

South Afric An Evaluation Of The Status Of Our...
130,000 years of palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change in East Africa: An evaluation of the status of our understanding
Over the last two decades, there has been intensive work undertaken to understand African palaeoclimates, in order to put together a more coherent
picture of how the environment and climate have varied in the past. East Africa is of particular interest with the debates surrounding the "out–of–Africa"
migrations of anatomically modern humans (e.g. Appenzellar, 2012; Armitage et al, 2011; Balter, 2011; Cruciani et al, 2011). It is still premature for
any grand synthesis of the region's climatic past when the patchiness of the palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental records are acknowledged, and in
light of the complexity of the climate forcing mechanisms across this region (Berke et al, 2014). The warning "causation, correlation or coincidence"
still very much applies to all exercises in explanation and more regional–scale work is certainly necessary (McIntosh et al. 2015). This essay initially
takes the lens of human evolution to evaluate the status of our understanding of the palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change during the critical
"Out–of–Africa" migration periods. This is followed by an in–depth review of the palynological record in East Africa and associated records. This
evaluation focuses on the last 130 kya, the upper boundary of which, marks the start of the Eemian interglacial. This coincides with the date determined

Thousands of miles away there are people who see things differently than Americans do. They believe differently, think differently and also live life
differently. Although there are tons of different cultures around the world, the Vietnameseculture has always been very intriguing. People may define
culture differently, in this case, culture refers to the population, geography, structure, people, and so much more. Given the history, both past and
present, with the Americans and the Vietnamese, understanding their culture, geography, weather, and their everyday lives is important. When looking
at the size of Vietnam, it is comparable to that of New Mexico in America. It is approximately 329,560 Sq KM and is a flat delta with hill–like ridges
on the North and Northeast. It has tropical lowlands, hills, and thick forest highlands as well as very little flat uncovered land. The North, consists of

The Effects Of Air Pollution
"To taste the morning air! The deliciously crisp and sweet air for which I long" (O'Sheridan, 2011). Have you tasted the salty air of the sea or the
cold, crisp air of the Colorado Rockies? According to recent studies scientists have found that the human lung can "taste" bitter substances in the air.
(Connor, 2010) So how about the layered bitter, astringent, smoky taste of Shanghai? In January of 2013, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing reported that a
toxic cloud the size of the Greenland covered parts of China causing the levels of a particulate air pollution that seeps into the lung, vein, and heart
tissue, to surge above 850 micrograms per cubic meter. According to the UN, 20 micrograms per cubic meter is considered to be the highest safe
level. (Meyer, 2017)
So, what caused such an extreme level of smog to infiltrate the air that winter and every winter since? Two independent studies argue thatclimate
change will make this event and others like it commonplace in the years to come. In March 2017 an article published at www.nature.com states that
although Chinas pollutant emissions can be considered the underlying issue, the local weather conditions definitely play a weighted part. According to
the article changes to the atmosphere such as "weakened northerly winds, decreased relative humidity, reduced Arctic Sea ice, and declined East Asian
winter monsoon, may have contributed". Their findings suggest that the climate models show that the wind conditions causing the

The Climatic Conditions Of Nepal

  • 1. The Climatic Conditions Of Nepal Abstract– Climatic conditions of Nepal vary from one place to another in accordance with the geographical features. Climate change is changing our economy, health and communities in diverse ways. The effects of rising temperatures are not only melting glaciers and sea ice, it's also shifting precipitation patterns and setting animals on the move. The erratic rainfalls and increase in frequency of extreme events such as floods and drought. Most of the big rivers of Nepal are glacier–fed and its main resources of water and hydroelectricity will be seriously affected due to the ongoing changes in glacier reserves, snowfall and natural hazards. Nepal is largely a mountainous country and current indications are that the mountain regions are more vulnerable due to increased warming trends high variation in altitude with in very short distances. These alarming trends not only make Nepal 's major sectors of economy such as agriculture, tourism and energy more vulnerable but also endanger the health, safety and wellbeing of Nepali people. The main objective of the study is to identify the impacts of climate change on the development paradigm of the country in context of water resources. The prophecy behind this study is to add the future development of Nepal regarding poverty alleviation, social equity, security and welfare. The climate change trends and its impacts may differ in various local regions, it has affected Nepal with less monsoonal rains across the high mountains and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Intertropical Convergence Zone Plays a Large Role in... The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is a permanent low–pressure feature that lies on the meteorological equator. It is characterisied by lots of cloud cover and precipitation (Andrews et al., 2003). The ITCZ plays a significant role in the climate and weather events in the tropics. The clouds created by the ITCZ also provide an important form of albedo in the tropics (Waliser and Gautier, 1993),which has an effect on globalclimate. Tropical events such as monsoon and cyclones occur in the ITCZ and are products of the unique convection system found around the ITCZ (Yancheva et al., 2007, Ferreira and Schubert, 1997).The ITCZ is a product of humid trade winds from the northern and southern hemisphere converging and then rising. This rising of humid air usually results in precipitation over the tropics(Waliser and Somerville, 1994). This rising of the humid air acts as the driving force in the Hadley Cell (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ is a product of high levels of solar radiation and high amounts of latent heat released from the ocean (Andrews et al., 2003). It is important to realize that the ITCZ moves throughout the year depending on the seasons, it is likely to be found in the southern hemisphere in the southern hemisphere summer and in the northern hemisphere during the northern hemispheres summer. However the ITCZ is more likely to be found in the Northern hemisphere (Waliser and Somerville, 1994). The ITCZ plays a large role in many of the climatic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. GEOGRAPHY Melbourne is the capital city of the state of Victoria, Australia, located at 37В° 48 ' S, 144В° 57 ' E (WorldAtlas.com, 2015). It lies about 30 m above sea level and its metropolitan area covers a total of about 9990.5 km2 occupied by about 4.2 million people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... VEGETATION DISCUSSION HISTORICAL FIRE REGIME LIGHTNING Before Aboriginal and European settlement, lightning was the primary natural source of fire, especially in tropical parts of Australia (Kohen, 1996). These lightning–caused bushfires have drastically shaped the landscape and its vegetation. Plants have developed different adaptations to tolerate these fires and in turn contributed to the natural diversity in the area. The Mountain Ash (Eucalyptus regnans) trees growing in forests east of Melbourne are great examples of a tree species adapted to bushfires. These trees are usually killed by intense fire but their seeds germinate fast in the ash bed left behind by the fire (Museum Victoria, n.d.). The city of Melbourne historically had a mix of grass, scrub, and trees in its landscape due to its relatively flat terrain and its low elevation. Like the rest of the state of Victoria, lightning has played an important role in shaping ecosystems and affecting different vegetation types. ABORIGINAL FIRES Fire events have increased ever since the Aboriginals have occupied the landscape about 40,000 years ago (Lindenmayer & Burgman, 2005). They used fire to their advantage and helped change the landscape in addition to lightning. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Natural Disasters And Natural Causes Of Floods In Malaysia Given Malaysia's geographical location, most floods that occur are a natural result of cyclical monsoons during the local tropical wet season that are characterised by heavy and regular rainfall from roughly October to March. Inadequate drainage in many urban areas also enhance the effects of heavy rain, though efforts are underway to resolve this. Floods are regular natural disasters in Malaysia which happen nearly every year during the monsoon season the latest serious hit was in the east coast during end of 2014 and early 2015.With up to 200,000 peoples affected and 21 killed, it was described as the worst flood in decades. It also took more than a year for flood victims in certain states to recover and return to their normal lives. The geographical location of Malaysia makes it experience two monsoon seasons, the Southwest Monsoon and Northeast Monsoon. The monsoons bring more rain resulting in regular floods every year. Although flash flood only happens for a short amount of time, the damage done is very significant, there have already been three events of flash flood within the month. It happened in Klang, Shah Alam, and Teluk Bahang. The flash flood in Klang was reported to occur after two hours of heavy rain, leading the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) officials to manually open the water gate at Jalan Banting in Pandamaran to reduce the flood water level .The same thing happened at Shah Alam when a continuous two hours of heavy rain led to flash floods at ... • 9. Essay about Climate and Society of China Climate and Society of China Monsoons, Flooding & Droughts Believe it or not, there is a direct correlation between weather, climate and society. Since the first civilizations of the world, these three themes have affected one another. Weather has influenced civilizations in terms of the clothing and shelter which are necessary to protect oneself from the elements. On the other extreme, climate and weather have also acted as positive factors in the case of areas such as Cancun, Mexico. Continuous exceptional weather conditions have molded this area into a vacation Eden to which millions flock throughout the year to escape their own respective meteorologically disadvantaged (e.g. cold, snowy, rainy) regions. Through an intense... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most prominent examples of such seasonal winds occur in southern Asia and in Africa. The monsoons that plague China are caused by a variety of factors, mainly because of contrasting temperatures between the Pacific Ocean and the Chinese continent. This temperature disparity is exaggerated with the changing of seasons as land temperatures fluctuate more rapidly than those of water.21 H.H. Lamb argues in Climate, History and the Modern World that the latitude of Southeast Asia also plays a factor in the prevalence of monsoons affecting China.22 Like many cultures throughout the world, China relies upon agriculture for much of its subsistence. This crop reliance presents a tedious situation because of the massive issues accompanying a crop failure. Prior to the sophisticated irrigation techniques available today, agriculture was very reliant on consistent rainfall for its survival. In China, droughts occurred from time to time depending on the climate in the time between monsoon seasons, and these rainless periods devastated crop yields. On the other hand, the monsoon period and flooding sometimes brought too much rain, destroying crops as well. Accompanying these droughts, floods and crop failures were the resulting famines which left many impoverished. In the mid–twentieth century the Chinese were finally able to deal better with the droughts and famine by importing vast quantities of grain and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. North American Monsoon Monsoon is traditionally defined as a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation,[1] but is now used to describe seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea.[2] [3] Usually, the term monsoon is used to refer to the rainy phase of a seasonally–changing pattern, although technically there is also a dry phase. The major monsoon systems of the world consist of the West African and Asia–Australian monsoons. The inclusion of the North and South American monsoons with incomplete wind reversal may be debated. The term was first used in English in British India (now India, Bangladesh and Pakistan) and neighbouring countries to refer to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, the specific heat capacity of liquid water is significantly higher than that of most materials that make up land. Together, these factors mean that the heat capacity of the layer participating in the seasonal cycle is much larger over the oceans than over land, with the consequence that the air over the land warms faster and reaches a higher temperature than the air over the ocean. The hot air over the land tends to rise, creating an area of low pressure. This creates a steady wind blowing toward the land, bringing the moist near–surface air over the oceans with it.[14] Similar rainfall is caused by the moist ocean air being lifted upwards by mountains,[15] surface heating,[16] convergence at the surface,[17] divergence aloft, or from storm–produced outflows at the surface.[18] However the lifting occurs, the air cools due to expansion in lower pressure, which in turn produces condensation. In winter, the land cools off quickly, but the ocean retains heat longer. The cold air over the land creates a high pressure area which produces a breeze from land to ocean.[14] Monsoons are similar to sea and land breezes, a term usually referring to the localized, diurnal (daily) cycle of circulation near coastlines, but they are much larger in scale, stronger and seasonal.[19] Most summer monsoons ... • 11. The Environmental Issue Of The Wildfires What is the single most environmental issue that is plaguing the eastern half of the world? The raging fires in Indonesia and Asia. These fires are releasing more CO2 and other toxic chemicals in a few months than most countries do all year. The fires are also producing a thick smoky haze that is clouding the entire area. What is the exact cause of this problem? Scientists are quick to point out several causes, but one that is standing out is the defiant act of setting ablaze fields for the use of farmland. The Indonesian government has taken a stand against the fire, but has done nothing to actually stop the farmers from destroying the land. The actual problem is that the farmers are burning their land to make way for their crops. The farmers not only set the fires in the first place, but also chop down trees to make land open for crops. This deforestation adds to the problem because they just let the trees lay and the wood tries and is perfect kindling for the fires. This logging for the way of plantations is one cause that is leading the way. The government has no real reason to stop the farmers because they are bringing in the money for the country. This use of fire is a ?cheap and often illegal way of clearing land.? (http:/ /forests.lic.wisc.edu/ric/wrr37/fires.htm) This shows the blahtent disregard for nature and the entire community. If the farmers only had the means to clear their land in a way that didn?t cause such a destructive effect on the earth there wouldn?t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. A Brief Look at Climate Change The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate change's impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013). The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and economic systems. It also provided a type of wind known as Monsoon wind that merchants could benefit from. Produced in thirty days, it shows five different stories and how they develop. Some develop into love stories and have a happy ending. For one it shows the horrible disgusting reality of life. Throughout the film, it shows the innocent, harmless love, then as the film comes closer to the end, it becomes a dark reality that the audience has to realize happens to Ria Verma and Aylia Verma. Ria is an ordinary woman, who has dreams and aspirations. Ria is living with Lalit and Pimmi Verma who are her uncle and aunty, because Ria's father has died. The audience first comes across Ria when she is in the taxi talking to Aditi about her arranged marriage.'So what do you do? Get married to some guy selected by Mummy and Daddy, you've barely known him for a week'. This statement shows that she is fully against the idea of Aditi getting an arranged marriage . When the family is having the celebrations of the wedding Tej first walks in the room with a big smile on his face greeting everyone then the camera quickly turns to Ria and zooms into her face. The look on her face is like she has just seen a ghost and showed she is scared. The country receives almost 80% of its annual rainfall during monsoon season. The current warming trend is of particular significance because most of it is very likely human–induced and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented in the past 1,300 years. Climate change is changing our economy, health and communities in diverse ways. The effects of rising temperatures are not only melting glaciers and sea ice, it's also shifting precipitation patterns and setting animals on the move. The main objective of the study is to identify the impacts of climate change on the development paradigm of the country in context of water resources. The prophecy behind this study is to add the future development of Nepal regarding poverty alleviation, social equity, security and welfare. Study of past geomorphic responses to similar climate changes can provide clues regarding how the region's watersheds will be affected by ongoing global warming, making this study's findings relevant to land managers. One weakness of the Intragovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports is a limited understanding of how modern societies can best adapt to rapid climate change (Van de Noort, 2011). Archaeology can contribute a broad–based understanding of the adaptive capacities and pathways of past communities faced with rapid climate change, as well as the possible cultural ramifications of various adaptive strategies. This insight is important for devising effective strategies for modern communities to successfully deal with the consequences of ongoing rapid climate change. An improved grasp of the interelationships between climate, geomorphology, and culture in the Carrizo Wash watershed can contribute to this larger understanding. • 21. Urbanisation Is An Integral Part Of The Economic Development Urbanisation is an integral part of the economic development. The global economic growth, poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability and quality of life are largely determined by the extent of urbanisation. In the past few decades urban areas in the world have experienced inadequate infrastructure, rising population and the social problems like poverty, growth of informal settlement and environmental problems accruing it. These problems in turn poses serious problems to sustainable development in the present and future. Moreover many cities in the world have become the hotspot of vulnerability due to climate change and variability and are susceptible to extreme and recurrent weather events. Most of the urban areas, in recent decades, have been facing extreme weather events and subsequent damages and loss of lives caused due these extreme events. Extreme event in its wake severely affect economic development and poverty alleviation and has the potential to drastically alter the development trajectory of the city and the areas surrounding it. In addition to physical, social and economic vulnerabilities in such cities is the low adaptive capacity with constraints on physical, financial and human resources. Therefore the assessment of vulnerability to extreme and recurrent weather events of the city is an imperative for the vulnerability and exposure determines the extent of adaptation and coping capacity of the communities in the periphory of the cities. • 25. The Costly Damage of Flooding Floods are the most costly and damaging natural disaster in the world (Berz, 2000). The determination of streamflow (stage or discharge) at a river station plays an important role in environmental and water resources management. Flood routing, a basis for flood forecasting, is the process of determining progressively the timing and shape of a flood wave at successive points along a river reach. Approaches for flood routing have been based either on hydraulic (process approach) or hydrologic (conceptual or system approach). Hydrologic stream routing is based on the storage concept, and conversely, hydraulic channel routing is based on the principles of mass and momentum conservation. In predicting a particular hydrograph on its passage through a river reach, any flood modeling will involve a number of assumptions and simplifications. For many rivers, topographic information neither exit nor are readily available and consequently the use of dynamic models has some limitations (Barati, 2013). In addition, a close match between the observed flow rates and the computed ones is difficult to achieve with such techniques if some parameters used along a reach are not accurate. While high demands on computer resources, as well as on the quantity and quality of input data, restrict the efficiency of hydraulic models in practical applications, approximate models produce satisfactory results at considerably less expense with a limitation in their generality and accuracy depending on the ... This applies for Raynaud's phenomenon where the blood vessels dilate and blood flow is disrupted. Cold weather increases joint stiffness and affects people with arthritis. Arthritis patients believe that the lower the barometric pressure, the greater the pain in the joints. An example is that the residents at the North Shore Hotel note when the barometric pressure goes down, their pain goes up. Their arthritis goes into overdrive before a storm. Climate Change And Subsistence Farming 2.2Climate Change and Subsistence Farming Climate change has the potential to transform food production, especially the patterns and productivity of crops, livestock, and fishery systems; and to reconfigure food distribution, markets, and access (Nelson et al., 2009). Chen et al. (2012) observed that climate change has already had a negative impact on Asia through extreme temperatures, frequent flooding and droughts, sea level rise, and increased salinity of water supplies for rainfed agricultural areas. Most Asian countries are quite dependent on their domestic supplies of rice. The International Rice Commission (2003) indicates that Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, and Vietnam are the major producers of rice, producing more than 70% of the world's volume. The Asian rice–producing countries tend to consume most of their domestic rice production. Nevertheless, Thailand and Vietnam are able to export some rice to neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Dasgupta et al. (2009) identified ten developing countries whose land areas are most exposed to the potential threat of a one–meter rise in sea level. Among the countries most affected by sea level rise are Bangladesh, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam and these are all rice–growing and rice–consuming countries. • 39. South Afric An Evaluation Of The Status Of Our... 130,000 years of palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change in East Africa: An evaluation of the status of our understanding Over the last two decades, there has been intensive work undertaken to understand African palaeoclimates, in order to put together a more coherent picture of how the environment and climate have varied in the past. East Africa is of particular interest with the debates surrounding the "out–of–Africa" migrations of anatomically modern humans (e.g. Appenzellar, 2012; Armitage et al, 2011; Balter, 2011; Cruciani et al, 2011). It is still premature for any grand synthesis of the region's climatic past when the patchiness of the palaeoclimatic and palaeoenvironmental records are acknowledged, and in light of the complexity of the climate forcing mechanisms across this region (Berke et al, 2014). The warning "causation, correlation or coincidence" still very much applies to all exercises in explanation and more regional–scale work is certainly necessary (McIntosh et al. 2015). This essay initially takes the lens of human evolution to evaluate the status of our understanding of the palaeoenvironmental and palaeoclimatic change during the critical "Out–of–Africa" migration periods. This is followed by an in–depth review of the palynological record in East Africa and associated records. This evaluation focuses on the last 130 kya, the upper boundary of which, marks the start of the Eemian interglacial. This coincides with the date determined by recent ... • 42. The Effects Of Air Pollution "To taste the morning air! The deliciously crisp and sweet air for which I long" (O'Sheridan, 2011). Have you tasted the salty air of the sea or the cold, crisp air of the Colorado Rockies? According to recent studies scientists have found that the human lung can "taste" bitter substances in the air. (Connor, 2010) So how about the layered bitter, astringent, smoky taste of Shanghai? In January of 2013, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing reported that a toxic cloud the size of the Greenland covered parts of China causing the levels of a particulate air pollution that seeps into the lung, vein, and heart tissue, to surge above 850 micrograms per cubic meter. According to the UN, 20 micrograms per cubic meter is considered to be the highest safe level. (Meyer, 2017) So, what caused such an extreme level of smog to infiltrate the air that winter and every winter since? Two independent studies argue thatclimate change will make this event and others like it commonplace in the years to come. In March 2017 an article published at www.nature.com states that although Chinas pollutant emissions can be considered the underlying issue, the local weather conditions definitely play a weighted part. According to the article changes to the atmosphere such as "weakened northerly winds, decreased relative humidity, reduced Arctic Sea ice, and declined East Asian winter monsoon, may have contributed". Their findings suggest that the climate models show that the wind conditions causing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
