Teaching Holiday traditions to 4 graders. There are 20 students 11 girls, and 9 boys. There are 2
Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
90-100% of the fourth grade students will know and understand the concepts of different Holiday
traditions among various cultures and religions. They will demonstrate knowledge gained from
projects that their peers will bring in. The projects will consist of beliefs, traditional wear, and a
tangible object that represents their particular Holiday. They will then listen to presentations and
take notes on each of the projects as they’re being presented; after everyone has presented the
students will then share at least 5 facts that they have written down. This lesson will last for two
weeks, one week to research and one week to compare and contrast the holidays covered.

State Objectives-Teaching Holiday traditions to 4th graders with 90-100% accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials- The internet (guided search), traditional books, stories,
and folktales.
Utilize Media and Materials- Provide the specific websites, books, and folktales that explain or
help others understand a dissimilar Holiday.
Require Learner Participation- Presenting their own, taking notes on others’ presentations, and
compare and contrasting the different Holidays.
Evaluate and Revise-Compare and contrast their information learned and written down. Allow
the presenters feel like the teacher for a change.
A: The 20 fourth grade students.
B: The students will research and present their topics in groups. They will also take individual
notes afterwards as a whole class we will compare and contrast what they have written down and
know.
C: They will have one week to research the topic amongst themselves in their groups. We will
then use another week to present and compare/contrast the Holidays as a whole.
2. D: The students are expected to know and understand the differences that are clearly present in
the different Holidays with 90-100% accuracy.
