3. Contents Of A MagazineMasthead- It is there to tell
the reader what school
this magazine is for.
Anyone who reads the
magazine will read this
first and see that it is a
magazine for Wolf Fields.
Date Line/Issue Number- This is
put on magazines so that people
know the date and they know
which issue they are reading, it
also gives the reader an ideas
on how many issues have been
produced. Main Story- This is on
the here to entice
people into reading
the magazine, this is
the first thing that the
reader will see and
will be the first thing
that they read.
Contents- This tells the reader
what is in the magazine and
what they can look for
specifically in the magazine.
Main Image- This is placed on the
front and is usually big and
colourful to attract peoples
attention and to make them want
to read the main story.
Secondary Image- This is
adjoined to the
secondary story and it to
add some validity to the
story and give the reader
a better picture of what is
going on in the story.
Secondary Story-This is a smaller
story which is hoped to be read
because of the main story, if that
was a success with the reader they
may want to go onto the next story.
4. Success of a Magazine
• The magazine has done well in making the main story about Red Nose Day and it
being about charity because it will make readers want to read it because they will
want to know what the school has done for charity.
• The presentation of the magazine could have been better, there is some
overlapping images and lines which don’t help with the overall look of the
magazine.
• The magazine appeals to anyone who wanted to find out about what the school
has done but it would not appeal to someone who is not interested in the school.
5. Audience Research
• I asked 20 students what they would like to see in their school magazine, I gave
them seven options to choose from; Sports News, Teacher News, Events, Music
News, Film News, Bulletins, Random Facts.
• I also asked how much the magazine should cost, and I got an overall result that
the magazine should be free to all students and that it should be handed round
like a newsletter.

6. Analysis Of Previous Work
• I think the student has done well in making a school magazine look like something
professional magazine, this is not an easy thing to do. The student has made a
successful front cove because it is clearly about school and has some issues that
people might want to discuss or argue about, like the ‘Academy or Comprehensive’
argument.
• The contents page might be a little confusing for some people because it seems to
have a lot of contents points on the 20th page, and this is confusing for some
people because they are all over the page and this could make people confused.
• I could probably produce work to a similar standard but I would have to have a lot
of time and I would have to improve on my Photoshop skills and any other
programs which I would have to use, I would have to spend a little more time with
these programs to figure them out fully.
7. Brief
• I was asked to create a school magazine, front
cover and contents page, the front cover page
should include some if not all of the
conventions of a magazine. The contents page
should include the conventions of a contents
page in a magazine. I intend to create a good
looking magazine front cover and contents
page, which is easy on the eyes and it is easy
to get information from it.
