A Summary Of Suzuki Miyaura Reaction
The products of Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR, model 500 MHz, Varian
NMR Systems). Detailed information regarding the 1H NMR (500 MHz) and 13C NMR (125 MHz) NMR data are provided in the Supplementary
Data. The NMR spectra were referenced to TMS as an internal standard and are reported as follows: chemical shift multiplicity (s = singlet, d =
doublet, t = triplet, m = multiplet), coupling constant in Hz, and integration.
Suzuki–Miyaura Reaction: Pd–containing catalytic GONs (3 mg) were added to 3 mL of solvent containing aryl halide (1 mmol), phenylboronic acid (2
mmol), base (4 mmol), and tetrabutylammonium bromide (2 mmol). The reaction mixture was magnetically stirred at boiling temperature under Ar. The
reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and the crude products were purified by column chromatography on 230–400 mesh silica gel using
ethyl acetate and hexane (1:10 v/v) as the eluant. The isolated compounds were analyzed by 1H NMR (500 MHz) and 13C NMR (125 MHz), with the
chemical shifts reported relative to residual CDCl3 solvent peaks (1H NMR: 0 ppm, 13C NMR: 77.01 ppm) and tetramethylsilane (TMS) as an internal

Powder X: Ray Diffraction
Powder X–Ray Diffraction Powder X–ray diffraction (PXRD) was used to provide an insight into the polymorphic nature of xylitols. The PXRD
patterns of all xylitols were collected on a Bruker D8 Advance (Siemens, D5000, Germany) powder diffractometer with Cu Kα radiation (1.54056 Å)
using the DIFFRACplus software. Samples were placed into a stainless steel holder and the surface of each powder was levelled manually for analysis.
Each sample was scanned from 2 to 40 of 2θ with a step size of 0.019º and a step time of 32.5 s. The reproducibility of the PXRD patterns was
ascertained by collecting three patterns of three different specimens of each sample. Fourier Transforms Infrared Spectroscopy FT–IR analysis was
carried out by to identify any changes at a molecular level between crystallized xylitol crystals. All xylitols were analyzed using a computerized fourier
transforms infrared (FT–IR) spectrometer (SPECTRUM–ONE FT–IR, PerkinElmer, Massachusetts, USA) at room temperature. The scanning range
was 650–4,000 cm–1 and the resolution was 1 cm–1 resolution. Each sample (several milligrams) was placed on the middle of the sample stage. The
handle attached was placed on top of the sample and a force gauge was applied (50 ± 2 bar arbitrary units of the device's pressure meter) by the top of
the arm of the sample stage to make the necessary contact to yield a characteristic spectrum. After obtaining sharp peaks with reasonable intensities, the

adsorption process will be investigated. Afterwards, the same experiments at similar conditions will be carried out using pure water vapor. Based on the
result of these experiments, a new set of experiments will be designed and carried out for binary systems (Methane and water vapor). Equilibrium and
kinetics will be studied. Dynamic studies will be accomplished. Generally, the performance of Flax Shive and Oat Hulls in PSA process will be
determined.
5.3 Phase 3
To further investigate the adsorption process, various isotherms will be fitted on the experimental data. Equilibrium capacity, uptake of species,

The Bio– P is an anaerobic pre–reactor tank installed prior to the HRAS with the purpose to remove biologically the incoming phosphorus from the
wastewater (See Figure 2). It has approximately a capacity of 65 Liters.
The (HRAS) reactor is a cylinder tank with a volume capacity of 250 Liters (See Figure 3). This aeration reactor is fitted with two aeration blowers,
which are providing fine (0 – 3 mm) and coarse (3 – 50 mm) aeration. The fine aeration maintains aerobic stable conditions; meanwhile, the coarse
aeration delivers the adequate mixing to avoid a possible vertical stratification into the system. The total air supplied per m3 of the tank is 3 m3/m3.d. A
DO6441/ T membrane probe measures the dissolved oxygen levels in the bioreactor and assist to control the airflow to the bioreactor.
In addition, pH has also been monitored into the reactor using a glass body pH probe (SP 8000 CD, Sensorex, Australia).

T he worldwide increase of multidrug resistance has impaired the current antimicrobial therapy, warranting the search for other alternatives.This study
investigated the efficacy of using plant extracts; Lawsonia inermis L(Henna), Glycyrrhiza glabra L(licorice) and Rosmarinus officinalis L (Rosemary)
as antifungal agents.Antifungal susceptibility test revealed that nystatin were mostly active against tested clinical isolates. In vitro antifungal activity of
the different plant extracts against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice, had high antifungal activity. In vivo study, topical application of
licorice gave promising and excellent healing response. We propose that the higher percentage of (GC–MS) of 3–O–Methyl–d–glucose 29.1 %, most
probably are the causes of its higher antifungal activity.

Iron (II) reacts with hydrogen peroxide to produce a hydroxyl radical and is oxidized to Iron (III). Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide
molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide
radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate
in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton's Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required
for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs,
and makes the process cost prohibitive. In order to overcome this limitation, it was found that iron–amended zeolites could be used to destroy
chemicals in water at nearly neutral pH (3).

Abstract
Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response may be mediated by HRV16 nonstructural proteins 2B, which share similar characteristics to CVB3 2B. To
understand whether HRV16 2B induces an ER stress response, a HRV16 2B fusion protein with GFP were generated and its effects on ATF6a
(activating transcription factor 6a), IRE1 (Inositol–requiring enzyme 1), and PERK (PKR–like ER protein kinas) expression in BHK cells were
determined. The results showed that HRV16 2B induced significantly high expression of glucose–regulated protein 78, and activated ATF4 and ATF6 in
a time–dependent manner. HRV16 2B also significantly activated the PERK–eIF2α pathway with marked increased in expression of p–PERK, p–eIF2α,
and CHOP. Additionally, HRV16 2B decreased the expression of p–IRE1 and ATF6 p50. These results demonstrated for the first time that the PERK–
eIF2α signaling pathway, but not IRE1 and ATF6, mediates ER stress in BHK cells.

13C NMR and Mass spectroscopy. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their α–glucosidases and antibacterial activity. Result:
Biological evaluation of the compounds (3a–3j) revealed that most of them are good α–glucosidases inhibitors and possess significant antimicrobial
activity compared to their respective standards. Discussion: Amongst (3a–3j), compound 3h showed moderate inhibition of glucoamylase and
compound 3j with compelling inhibition of α–amylase. Compound 3g and 3e displayed excellent antibacterial activity against all tested strains and

As a result, a prototype corrosion sensor has been explored in this study, in order to find the sensitive and systematic change in electrical properties of a
metal surface (e.g., A36 carbon steel as investigated in this study) during the early–stage corrosion as it is exposed to a corrosive environment. A36
carbon steel is commonly used in steel bridges and other structures [13,14]. The definition of the early–stage corrosion is the mass change of the sensor
is within 0.2% (or iron loss per exposed surface area is within 187.7 g/m2) as explored in this study. The prototype sensor was essentially a capacitor
composed of two parts: (i) the same metal with the same passivation/coating as the metallic structure or the system to be monitored; (ii) a corrosion–
resistant conductor. The two parts were separated by air, the same corrosion environment of the structure or the system in service. As a result, the
corrosion of the sensor represents the extent of corrosion of the structure/system being monitored. During the course of corrosion and degradation, there
is a rapid change of the surface morphology and the property of the metal, rather than a slow change of the bulk electrical resistance measured by the
conventional corrosion sensors. Therefore, the degree of corrosion can be sensitively reflected by the systematic change of the capacitance and the

  • 1. A Summary Of Suzuki Miyaura Reaction The products of Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR, model 500 MHz, Varian NMR Systems). Detailed information regarding the 1H NMR (500 MHz) and 13C NMR (125 MHz) NMR data are provided in the Supplementary Data. The NMR spectra were referenced to TMS as an internal standard and are reported as follows: chemical shift multiplicity (s = singlet, d = doublet, t = triplet, m = multiplet), coupling constant in Hz, and integration. Suzuki–Miyaura Reaction: Pd–containing catalytic GONs (3 mg) were added to 3 mL of solvent containing aryl halide (1 mmol), phenylboronic acid (2 mmol), base (4 mmol), and tetrabutylammonium bromide (2 mmol). The reaction mixture was magnetically stirred at boiling temperature under Ar. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and the crude products were purified by column chromatography on 230–400 mesh silica gel using ethyl acetate and hexane (1:10 v/v) as the eluant. The isolated compounds were analyzed by 1H NMR (500 MHz) and 13C NMR (125 MHz), with the chemical shifts reported relative to residual CDCl3 solvent peaks (1H NMR: 0 ppm, 13C NMR: 77.01 ppm) and tetramethylsilane (TMS) as an internal standard. Samples were placed into a stainless steel holder and the surface of each powder was levelled manually for analysis. Each sample was scanned from 2 to 40 of 2θ with a step size of 0.019º and a step time of 32.5 s. The reproducibility of the PXRD patterns was ascertained by collecting three patterns of three different specimens of each sample. Fourier Transforms Infrared Spectroscopy FT–IR analysis was carried out by to identify any changes at a molecular level between crystallized xylitol crystals. All xylitols were analyzed using a computerized fourier transforms infrared (FT–IR) spectrometer (SPECTRUM–ONE FT–IR, PerkinElmer, Massachusetts, USA) at room temperature. The scanning range was 650–4,000 cm–1 and the resolution was 1 cm–1 resolution. Each sample (several milligrams) was placed on the middle of the sample stage. In vitro antifungal activity of the different plant extracts against isolates showed that acetonic extract of licorice, had high antifungal activity. In vivo study, topical application of licorice gave promising and excellent healing response. We propose that the higher percentage of (GC–MS) of 3–O–Methyl–d–glucose 29.1 %, most probably are the causes of its higher antifungal activity. Upon decomposition of a second hydrogen peroxide molecule, a superoxide radical is produced and Iron (III) is reduced back to Iron (II). The contaminants are primarily destroyed by the hydroxide radical, as it is highly reactive and oxidative (2). As iron precipitates above a pH of 3, the reaction halts, as the iron ions are not available to participate in this reaction. This renders the use of Fenton's Reagents impractical, as it would require large amounts of acid to lower the pH to the range required for this reaction. It would also require large amounts of base to raise the pH to a permissible value required for discharge. This introduces large costs, and makes the process cost prohibitive. To understand whether HRV16 2B induces an ER stress response, a HRV16 2B fusion protein with GFP were generated and its effects on ATF6a (activating transcription factor 6a), IRE1 (Inositol–requiring enzyme 1), and PERK (PKR–like ER protein kinas) expression in BHK cells were determined. The results showed that HRV16 2B induced significantly high expression of glucose–regulated protein 78, and activated ATF4 and ATF6 in a time–dependent manner. HRV16 2B also significantly activated the PERK–eIF2α pathway with marked increased in expression of p–PERK, p–eIF2α, and CHOP. Additionally, HRV16 2B decreased the expression of p–IRE1 and ATF6 p50. These results demonstrated for the first time that the PERK– eIF2α signaling pathway, but not IRE1 and ATF6, mediates ER stress in BHK cells. The newly synthesized compounds were screened for their α–glucosidases and antibacterial activity. Result: Biological evaluation of the compounds (3a–3j) revealed that most of them are good α–glucosidases inhibitors and possess significant antimicrobial activity compared to their respective standards. Discussion: Amongst (3a–3j), compound 3h showed moderate inhibition of glucoamylase and compound 3j with compelling inhibition of α–amylase. Compound 3g and 3e displayed excellent antibacterial activity against all tested strains and admirable antifungal activity against Candida albicans respectively. A36 carbon steel is commonly used in steel bridges and other structures [13,14]. The definition of the early–stage corrosion is the mass change of the sensor is within 0.2% (or iron loss per exposed surface area is within 187.7 g/m2) as explored in this study. The prototype sensor was essentially a capacitor composed of two parts: (i) the same metal with the same passivation/coating as the metallic structure or the system to be monitored; (ii) a corrosion– resistant conductor. The two parts were separated by air, the same corrosion environment of the structure or the system in service. As a result, the corrosion of the sensor represents the extent of corrosion of the structure/system being monitored. During the course of corrosion and degradation, there is a rapid change of the surface morphology and the property of the metal, rather than a slow change of the bulk electrical resistance measured by the conventional corrosion sensors.
