An Investigation Of The Predator Drone Essay
Today's new military technologies are often developed in covert labs, with the public only learning
of them after they have fulfilled their violent purpose, which too often is questionably unethical. To
demonstrate why this covert development is dangerous, and to show how almost all involved find a
way to deny responsibility, this paper will focus on the Predator drone. An investigation of this topic
will be shown best through a chronological investigation of what led to the Predator becoming an
unmoderated weapon. This investigation will establish just how many people are involved in
making a drone, and help to inform an opinion on the moral foundations of unmanned warfare. It
may also help to clarify which people are responsible for the unintended deaths in many drone
strike. The military industrial establishment in the United States is often driven by a regard for
money, and is slowly turning what should be considered dangerous weapons, into merchandise with
more marketing budgets than some fortune 500 companies. Friedrich Nietzsche's thoughts on how

The game explores controversial sides of drone warfare and the impacts it has both politically and
socially. At the start of the game the player is given the option to be player one or two. Player one
controls the UAV drone and the player has to shoot missiles at the desired target. The display and
aesthetics are very technological and realistic to the theme of drone warfare. This is apparent

Drones are a safe way of eliminating casualties by using their extreme precision and accuracy to
effectively neutralize the target. It has been estimated that less that 1,100 people have been killed
since the US started using drones to attack foreign countries since the terrorist attack in September
2001, which is approximately 12% of all civilian deaths (Singh). However, in WWII, the
percentages of civilian deaths as a result of total war we between 40% and 60 % (Saletan). Not only
do drones decrease the total amount of civilian casualties, drones help to keep our soldiers out of
harm's way, which saves the US billions of dollars annually. Drones are remotely controlled from
military bases in the US, and the actual drones are launched from bases in other allied countries.
This minimalizes the risk of death and/or injury that may occur if traditional pilots and aircraft are
used. Many terrorist groups operate out of remote regions that are very hard to access and they have
many risks such a tribal war, IEDs, snipers and weather. Drones also help to prevent soldiers from
PTSD and other post– war symptoms. Only 4% of drone pilots are at high risk for PTSD, compared
to the 12–17% of soldiers returning from active duty. Drones eliminate all these risks without ever

doesn't. Drones that are outfitted with weapons are also given new lazier guiding technology to
ensure that the weapon only hits the target and nothing else. The military has other airplanes that
can drop a bomb like the F–16 which has a payload of 500 pounds, but when it comes to taking out

An Investigation Of The Predator Drone Essay Today's new military technologies are often developed in covert labs, with the public only learning of them after they have fulfilled their violent purpose, which too often is questionably unethical. To demonstrate why this covert development is dangerous, and to show how almost all involved find a way to deny responsibility, this paper will focus on the Predator drone. An investigation of this topic will be shown best through a chronological investigation of what led to the Predator becoming an unmoderated weapon. This investigation will establish just how many people are involved in making a drone, and help to inform an opinion on the moral foundations of unmanned warfare. It may also help to clarify which people are responsible for the unintended deaths in many drone strike.
