2. Do you listen to Rock Music?

Yes
No
87%
Of the 15 people I asked, 13% of them said they don’t listen to rock music. This is
a very small percentage compared to the percentage of people who do listen
to rock music. Therefore, my questionnaire results will prove to be most helpful
to me and my magazine.

Out of the people who answered yes to the first question, every reply ticked two or
more of the options that were listed. The most popular answer was a tie between hard
rock and alternative rock. These were the answers that most people had chosen. This
means, that I am more likely to include alternative and hard rock in my magazine.
4. From the bands I listed, most of the people I
asked had heard of more than half of them.
Even the people who said they didn’t listen to
rock music had heard of them. From these
results, I am going to include names of these
bands and similar bands, as this will draw my
target audience in.
5. Do you go to concerts/gigs/festivals?
46%
54%
Yes
No
For this question, the answers were fairly split between people going to
concerts and not going. This doesn’t help me out with the content of my
magazine; therefore, I may need to ask this question again for my focus
group to get a better response.
6. Do you buy/download your music?
0%
Yes
No
100%
It’s obvious from the pie chart that everyone buys/downloads their music,
so having a free CD or a download would be a good idea to draw in my
target audience.
7. Do you buy /music magazines?
27%
Yes
73%
Many people said they don’t really buy music magazines. This isn’t
necessarily a bad thing; because they then went on to explain why they
don’t buy magazines and some helpful tips that would make them buy
the magazines.
No
8. The reasons listed were:
• Too expensive
• Rather listen to it than read about it
• Don’t like reading about the gossip just want to know about the
music
• and the tips for my magazine included discounts to concerts,
special events and more band posters.
9. Are you more likely to buy a magazine with a free CD?
13%

No
87%
This question was very helpful in planning what to include in my
magazine. 87% of the people I asked said that they were more likely
to buy a magazine if it had a free CD.

The two options that appeared to be the most popular were “Kerrang!” and the option
“none” this matches the answers I received from the previous question, because most
people don’t read magazines. However, the most popular magazine was “Kerrang!” this
means I need to do some research into the content of Kerrang! As this is what my target
audience wants.
11. What Colours would you associate with Rock Magazines?

The following questions are more to do with the layout of the magazine. Many people said
that they would associate dark colours with rock magazines, therefore, my main colour
scheme is going to be a mix of dark colours, and however, I’m going to ask this in a focus
group to get more opinions on this.
12. On the frontcover of the magazine, do you prefer seeing
the whole band or just the lead singer?
27%
Whole Band
73%
Lead Singer
This was a very important question, because I had two main ideas for the front cover, but I
wasn’t sure whether a whole band or just the lead singer would be appropriate for my
magazine. So from these results I collated, my target audience have said that they would
prefer the whole band.

This question wasn’t answered very well, because many people picked more than one
option, when I hadn’t asked for multiple answers, so this is a question I am going to have to
ask in my focus group.

£2.01-£2.50
Most people thought that £1.51-£2.00 would be a good price to have a magazine with a free
CD. Seeing as my target audience will be teenagers, this price range seems appropriate
seeing as they won’t have a disposable income.
