Contract Phone Deals, which is cheapest for me?
As my present phone contract is up for renewal, I am comparing 3 smart phones; iPhone 5,
Blackberry Z10 and the Samsung Galaxy 3.
The package I am looking for to suit my budget would be £40.00 per month and would need
to come with 1G worth of usage. I will be looking at the cheapest contract deal I can get
with all 3 providers and the spec of the phones that they offer.
All tariffs have been obtained online from Phones 4 U as this company is the cheapest
advertised resource and allows you to browse for different deals from all network providers.
They are cheaper than going to the mobile networks themselves.
The first deal I will be looking at is the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5
The only reason I chose to compare an iPhone 5 to the other smart phones is that I
previously owned one. They have up to date and advanced technology which includes;
iOS6 – The world’s most advanced OS
8-megapixel iSight camera with a panorama view
Facetime
Siri - Your intelligent assistant
Available in both black and white colours
The table bellow shows all the different tariffs you can have with the IPhone 5 with 3
optional network providers.
This is the Contract that is at
the lowest price and most
suitable for my needs
The cheapest tariff available is the 24 months with Vodaphone. This Tariff would give me;
600 Minutes
Unlimited texts
500MB of Data Allowance
Available in both black and white colours
This data plan wouldn’t be suitable as it does not cover the allowance that I need. The next
deal up is Unlimited Calls, Unlimited Texts and 1GB of data for £36.00. This deal is the
cheapest deal Orange can offer me.

The Samsung Galaxy 3
I chose to look into taking out a Samsung Galaxy because I think the phone is aimed at
teenagers. This phone has the following main points that attracts me to it:
Android Ice Cream Sandwich (new operating system)
8MP Camera
16 GB Internal Memory
Available in both black and white colours
The table bellow shows the different tarrifs available for 2 optional network providers.
This is the Contract that
is at the lowest price
and most suitable for
my needs
The Samsung Galaxy 3 has the same number of tariffs to offer and starts at £21.00. The tariff
that would be the best option and would cover what I am looking for would be the Orange
24 month contract which would offer me 600 Minutes, Unlimited Texts and 1GB of Internet
usage. The cost of that tariff would be £28.50.

The Blackberry Z10
I chose to look into having a blackberry because of the following:
8 Megapixel Autofocus Camera
4 Point Multi-Touch Display
BBM Video with Screen Share
3.5 mm Stereo Jack
2GB RAM
Available in both black and white colours
The table bellow shows the different network providers that you can have with the optional
tarrifs that are available.
This is the Contract that
is at the lowest price
and most suitable for
my needs.
The cheapest tariff for the blackberry Z10 is the 24 month plan offered by Vodaphone, for
£33.00 per month with no upfront cost of the phone. This tariff can offer me 600 minutes,
unlimited texts and 500MB of data. This would not be suitable as I'm after 1GB of internet
usage so the next deal I would look at is the £36.00. This would give me 900 minutes,
unlimited texts and with 1GB of internet usage.
The blackberry contract only offers 6 Monthly deals where as iPhone and the Samsung
Galaxy can offer me 10 different.

Network Provider
The graph above shows what network has the most expensive contract deals to offer. The
network provider ‘EE’ has the highest priced contracts and the second least amount of deals
to offer. The best network for value for your money is Orange which is offering you at the
most expensive deal being £46.00 compared to the EE networks being £36.00 with £79.99
as an initial Handset Cost, which then would work out £115.99. The second cheapest would
be Vodaphone, which you can get the Blackberry and iPhone for roughly the same price, but
the Samsung Galaxy priced much higher then the other 2 handsets that are available.
TMobile does not provide any contract deals for all 3 hansets.

Conclusion
During my research, I found out that the cheapest tarriff deal that would suit my
preferences would be the would be the £28.50 per month with Vodaphone; this contract
would offer me;
600 Minutes
Unlimited Texts
1GB of Internet usage
The TMobile Network, does not offer me any deals on any of the 3 Handsets I have chosen
to compare tarriffs to. The network provider EE charges more for the Blackberry Z10 and on
the iPhone 5, then Vodaphone and Orange offer. I found out that Vodaphone have the
cheapest tarriff to offer for the Samsung Galaxy 3 but also has the most expensive tarriff to
offer for the same handset, this shows to me that they can offer a wide variety of deals to
suit alot of other peoples needs other then mine. The contract deal iv decided to go ahead
with is the £28.50 per month with Vodaphone for the Samsung Glaxaxy 3 for 24 months.
