1. Evaluation of Unit 6 Festival
Central Fest 2010
Our event is a festival called ‘Central Fest 2010’ which took place in our school, Central Foundation Girls’ School, College Terrace Centre (CTC) on the 20th November 2010 from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
We attracted our target audience for this event which was people of any gender and all ages including families and friends in the community. Groups of family and people from the local community came to our festival and they all seem to have had so much fun.
There were a variety of activities that was based on anything that would make you happy from face paintings to archery to performances to an art exhibition and much more.
I was in charge of the art exhibition for half of the time in the festival. The art exhibition was held in a classroom and there were directions that could lead you into the room. The art work was by some of the people that gave in their work to us, as the art team including me, promoted a ‘Call for submission’ poster. We also we put some of our own artwork that we produced when we were doing our Creative and Media Unit 3 Artefact coursework.
The art exhibition was a good idea and also a success because lots of people including different age group, spent time to observe each artwork and ask me questions about it. I also had lots of good comments about the artwork. It was also very clear to the people that I was a member of the festival as everyone helping out wore the same t-shirts that had the word ‘HELPER’ clearly written on the back.
During my break, I had the chance to go around and see everything else that was happening in the festival. The room we planned for the professional face painting, nail workshop and the balloon artist, got very crowded as most people enjoyed it. This was a problem as crowded areas cause chaos. The queues for the three workshops/activities started to deform and clashed into each other which caused the people to get confused and mixed up. This was the only thing that did not go well in our festival and I, as well our whole Creative and Media team, realised that in future to always have each workshop to have enough room for them.
The second half of the festival, I was in charge of the popcorn queue in the film room. I had to make sure the people lined up in a queue quietly in order to keep the film room quiet so people watching the film do not get distracted. I had to use my communication skill to ask them what flavoured pop corn they want and then pass on the message to the team making the popcorn. This film room went great as we had lots of family’s sat together watching the film.
Overall, Central Fest was a great event and a chance for people in the community.
