2.  Each year 14000 and 80000 disabled due to Trauma in
Ameriaca .& Deaths are three times the number of nine
year conflict of Vitnam yearly .
 Trauma is responisible for 80% of deaths between forteen
and twenty four years old .
 It costs a lot to society: directly and indirectly
 There are three peaks of deaths (1) immediate . 6% leads
to 50% deaths (brain stem - spinal C , heart )
(2) within hours (sever HGE ) Trauma C 30% deaths
decreases to 9% (3) within days and

3. Phases of management
 1 ) pre hospital PH is fatal , rapidly fatal ., not fatal (basic
and advanced L.F
 2) Early hospital PH (resuscitation ) out and in hospital –
even in operative room primary assessment and
secondary survey investigation and plan for definitve
management .suspected INJ –unsuspicted INJ
 3 ) Operative PH (THoracotomy) – LAB
 4 ) intensive care PH (ECG –Electrolytes –coagulation –
invasive cardiac mentoring
 5 ) Convalescelt or rehabilitative OPH

by inserting a chest

compromises ventilation
