2. In General
So I did a lot of planning for my magazine and
did a lot of research in magazine layouts, how to
target an audience and I also did a questionnaire
to give myself a broader understanding.
So in this PowerPoint I want to show you how I
finished the first layout of my music magazine
and with asking different people and taking
advice and getting more ideas I change small
things and did slight adjustments to make my
magazine better.
3. Front cover
So this is the first layout for my front cover
and in my opinion it looks pretty good.
I followed all the conventions of a rap
magazine and all the planning paid of,
because everything is there for a reason.
I asked a couple of people what they think
about it, what they like about it and what
they would change.
Mr Asks said that the top half is pretty
good, but the bottom is too empty and it
doesn’t catch the eye as good as it could.
His advice was to make the headline bigger
and maybe put a selling line at the bottom.
4. Afterwards
The headline is bigger now and I put a
selling line at the bottom, so it doesn’t
look so empty anymore and looks
more finished.
I also put a link to a the magazine-
website at the top right.
In my opinion now it really does look
better to the first layout
5. Contents page
I think this is my best page, because it looks
really professional and it shows a lot of
Photoshop-skills.
The people I asked agreed but they all said
that it should have a bit more colour.
What Mr Asks told me was that the light
behind the number 35 should have some
more light added, so it looks like the sun is
shining in.
6. Afterwards
I added a light blue gradient effect in the
background, going from left to right, this
makes it a bit more colourful and the blue
goes well with the colour balance of the
whole page.
I took Mr Asks’ advice and added some
smaller lights around the big light, this way
it looks more realistic.
7. Double page spread
This is the first layout of my
double page spread.
It is pretty good in my
opinion, but many people I
asked said that it could be
better.
Something was missing in their
opinion, but they didn’t really
know what. So I went back to
my double page spread
analyses presentation and I
realized that I didn’t had a
quote.
8. Afterwards
So after adding a quote and
cutting some parts of the
article and making the tattoo
look more realistic.
To do that I brought the
opacity down and used the
eraser and smudge tool.
The quote is in blue so I have
more variety in my text.
In my opinion the double page
looks better now.
9. With the help of others and getting
some ideas of them and doing a bit
more research I was able to get my
magazine out of the development
stage and now it is finished.
