The Nature Of Elizabethan Acting
ARTICLE 1
Elizabethan Acting Author(s): Alfred Harbage Source: PMLA, Vol. 54, No. 3 (Sep. 1939), pp. 685
–708
The debate over the nature of acting during Shakespeare's time has been there for a long time. As early as the 1950s there were speculations already of
what took place on Elizabethan stages. What was the nature of Elizabethan acting? There was the controversial discussion that divided people into two
schools of thought; the formalist and the naturalist. The naturalists argue that those early days were characterized by acting that was natural. Formalist
has contrasting views that Elizabethan acting was formal. A compromise is that Elizabethan acting was a mixture of both formal and naturalism.
However, Alfred Harbage argues acting was either natural or formal. To determine which style to look at, he defined and gave examples of the two
different styles of acting. He argues that whether acting is formal or natural, actors must create reality. Acting had to be perfected and their presentation
never changed even with time. Harbage argues that acting may be natural to one audience but the same could be formal to another audience, that one
was a logical alternative to the other. Alfred Harbage wrote that there are no explicit differences in two styles of acting and the two could have been
present in the Elizabethan period.
He argues that "Natural acting strives to create an illusion of reality by consistency on the part of the actor who remains in character and tends

The Structure Of A Building
Nowadays anything can be considered workmanship. The structure of a building, the human body, music on the radio, love, Versaci 's new line of
winter, and beautiful transvestites strolling down the road are only a couple of countless cases. That sort of craftsmanship is misrepresented. The
greater part of these exist as a result of society. As individuals develop and change so does the qualities and customs that they are acclimated to.
Genuine workmanship holds tight the dividers of historical centers everywhere throughout the world. Works of art by Monet, Da Vinci, and Picasso
speak to all that can be made lovely by a man 's touch. The word tattoo originates from the Tahitian word tattau, which signifies 'to tap, ' and can be
followed back through a piece of history. The specialty of tattoos has been apparent since antiquated Egypt and over 1,500 years prior the Japanese
checked hoodlums as an image of disgrace for their discipline (Britannica, 2000). In the nineteenth century tattoos were seen as horrible and abnormal,
yet as the twentieth century moved by innovation offered route to the pattern. The electric needle made a feeling of accuracy and control. This is the
means by which the different plans created and tattooing turned out to be more about expression, as opposed to marking.
It is an insurance that tattoo and penetrating craftsmen can be found by the thousands in a metropolitan city. Their type of workmanship may be less
difficult to a degree, however it has

Short Essays in The Great Cat Massacre by Darnton
The Great Cat Massacre
Although the title of this book strikes the reader as unusual it begins to make complete sense once it is read. This book is a series of short essays by
Darnton. The second section, which is titled "Workers Revolt: The great Cat Massacre of the Rue Saint–SГ©rverin" brings the reader directly into the
views of the working class during the 1700s in France. This style of writing allows situations to be viewed through the lens of those who are
experiencing it, making for a more interesting read. The context of this portion of the book truly gives an in depth account of the emotions and
conditions that peasants would meet with while being treated as inferior to even the animals by the masters. It can be said that Darnton included this
portion of the book to show the customs of the French during this time as well as to be able to see the way that the working class lived. From the
reading the working class was the base of society, doing the work for the noblemen and everyday citizens. In this section it involves a particular
situation with two men that are apprentices in a noble house. Apprentices would learn their way into a position of a trade and gain their success this
way. Unfortunately, theapprenticeship "program" was not the most enjoyable experience. These men were not allowed to sit at a table for meals, they
had to sleep in freezing rooms that were dirty and horrid, and were forced to eat the food scraps that even the cats rejected. These men

William Carlos Williams The Use Of Force
"The Use of Force" Physicians, in their daily practices will tell you, not all patients when being examined will comply with the doctor's wishes.
Likewise, Law Enforcement. Police, can tell you also not all calls went as smooth as it should most of the times. Nearly all doctors will agree that
children, and the mentally incompetent, are the most difficult patients to deal with. Because of incompetence, these patients are not able to make
decisions for themselves. Doctors are presumably likeable people, because, when you are sick, they make you healthier, although for others, doctors
can be villains. Patients whose doctor's force treatment on them perceive this as a violation of their rights. The use of force should be mandatory when
patient health becomes life threatening to themselves and the public at large. William Carlos Williamsin his story, The Use of Force, described the
unfolding of a dramatic encounter between a doctor and a little girl named Matilde, whose parents called the doctor for help because of concern for her
health. Matilde was suspected of having diphtheria by her parents. The story unfolds like a masterpiece being played on the stage of a theater as the
doctor arrived at the family's home. "She's had a fever for three days, shouted the father and we don't know what it comes from," (20). The doctor
asked the parent, "has she had a sore throat?" (23), which both parents replied no. To diagnose the ailment, the doctor must examine Matilda's throat.

Case Study: Guernica By Picasso
THE Story
In the first place search for the account, essentially portray what you see. Who or what is delineated, what's going on? On the off chance that you see
individuals and things, the work of art is allegorical; on the off chance that you see lines and sprinkles – go for non–non–literal. The name of the
artistic creation may prove to be useful, particularly with regards to Dali.
What is by all accounts more vital for the craftsman – representation or expression? Think about the sketches in the styles of hyperrealism and
expressionism – you can simply tell if the pictures look admired or explicitly mutilated.
Notice the sentiments you get taking a gander at the artistic creation, the general impression delivered by the whole painting and its components – later
you will burrow further to comprehend what motivated those feelings. There is a motivation behind why you like one painting more than the other.
Your taste in workmanship is as one of a kind as your taste in sustenance or garments, roused by your experience, childhood and even proficient
mastery.

Argumentative Essay On Doctor Who
This essay is about the world–famous show, Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a British Sci–Fi television program produced by BBC. This program depicts
the adventures of The Doctor, a humanoid alien. The Doctor is a Time Lord. Time Lord is a rank in the Gallifreyan (Doctor's home planet) military.
Gallifreyans who have achieved this rank are equipped with a Tardis, which stands for "time and relative dimension in space". A Tardis is a like a
time machine. It can travel through all of time and space and has the ability to change its outer image in order to blend in with its surroundings. The
Doctor's Tardis actually had a malfunction in which it broke down while it was in the shape of a 19th century London police box, so it now holds that

He was the first Doctor after the hiatus. As a character, this Doctor was pretty sassy. Through his entire showing, he was constantly making sarcastic
comments and rude statements. He really possessed the ill–mannered attitude of a moody teenager. When preparing for this role, Eccleston mostly
mimicked Tom Baker's (4th Doctor) performance. They felt that the Doctor was already an interesting enough character and didn't need to be too
exhilarating for his abstract personality to show. Producer felt this way, even if many fans disagreed. He had one of the smallest fan bases out of any
of the other actors. Christopher had one of the shortest showings of any of the other Doctors. He was commonly known for his signature leather jacket.
The next Doctor is David Tennant. Because of the negative response they got from Eccleston's performance, the producers decided to go in the exact
opposite way for Tennant. His Doctor was very dramatic. Throughout his long showing, his character had many heartfelt and action–packed moments.
His character was very lighthearted, easy–going, and cheeky. Yet, very dramatic when it came to expressing anger or frustration. David Tennant has
one of the biggest fan bases when it comes to all the Doctors. His character was famous for constantly messy

Sears Human Relationship Management
After finding Sears Holdings Corporation standing on the Fortune's 500 worst companies list, I decided to do a little research on the Fortune's 500
page to gather some valuable information about the enterprise. While looking at the information provided on the website, I noticed that Sears
Holdings Corporation previously ranked 99 and the company is now listed at 111 per Fortune's 500. (Beta, 2016). Not only did the company fall
twelve spots, but it is also showing a negative revenue change of 19.4%, and it is indicating a decrease in profits by $1,129. (Beta, 2016). Although
the company has a negative revenue of 19.4%, their current income is sitting at $25,146, and their current assets are $11,337. Also, as of March 31,

(Perry, 2011). The purpose of his theory was to have companies be more productive than the machines used inside of the enterprise. In Sears case, a
productive employee would be someone who not only provides that WOW customer service experience that the company prides itself on, but to also
keep the sales floor looking presentable as well as the fitting rooms. Also, a productive employee would be someone who not only asks a customer if
they are finding everything but helping satisfy the client's needs before the check–out process. Mayo's theory also states, "Ifs employees receive
particular attention and are encouraged to participate; they perceive their work has significance, and they are motivated to be more productive." (Perry,
2011). Elton Mayo's theory is in human relations management which is not the same as human resource management. However, his argument touched
on some of the same basis that Sears human resource department moves on upon hiring their employees. What government regulation must Sears
Holdings Corporation follow? Since Sears primary sector in the general merchandisers' industry is retail, the company by default is required to
comply with the Retail Law. Retail Law also known as Retail and Consumer Law is the body of laws related to the sale and advertising of consumer
products. (HG Legal Resources, 2016). The purpose of this law is to protect the rights of consumers and to ensure fair trade competition. The Retail
and Consumer Law also provides truth in advertising which makes sure customers are not singled out by unscrupulous retailers. (HG, Legal Resources,

Sears Mission Statement
Problem or Need
Prior the 1980's, Sears Holding Corporation (SHLD) managed to generate revenue and compete among the top retailers in America (Kim, 2014).
SHLD's current financial status reveals that they are failing to maintain profitability. Having worked with SHLD for over two years, I have noticed a
slow decline in profits. The main reasons for SHLD mishaps are due to a lack of a satisfactory mission statement (Sears Holding Corp, 2014),
increased competition, insufficient marketing tools and lack of bargaining power. All of these elements play a part in SHLD loss of profits.

SHLD profitability problem goes beyond person opinion and first–hand experience. The level of research needed to find solutions will require scholarly

Although SHLD is attempting to cut costs and capitalize off of their newly appointed loyalty program, the company continues to manufacture
quarterly losses (Sharf, 2014). Their lack of profitability stems from an inadequate mission statement, increased competition, inadequate
marketing and lack of bargaining power. However, all of these aspects can be fixed to ensure that SHLD becomes profitable again. This is why
research needs to be completed. I need to research ways combat competition, revitalize their marketing approach and increase their bargaining
power. Furthermore, I need to ensure that SHLD's modified mission statement provides guidelines for the entire organization to follow. Once all of
these aspects of SHLD are fixed, I will present my results to my General Manager of SHLD eastern region. Prior to presenting a formal report to my

Economic And Social Aspects Of The Commercial Revolution...
During the Middle Ages, the period from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries, the European economy was able to expand. Commercial Revolution
was when trade grew and merchants had developed new business techniques. The modernizing trade in the Commercial Revolution was a cause for a
rebirth of town life. According to Cole, "Urban manufacturing was regulated by professional associations known as guilds or confraternities." Also,
guilds promoted the interests of the members by trying to defend monopolies and to limit competition. In the late Middle Ages the cloth trade had
become an important site of conflict. The Middle Ages and these conflicts became a feature of life including famine, plague, war, social, and economic
conflicts. The Medieval Guild System comprised of craft and merchant guilds influencing economic and social aspects of European life.
During this time the two most common guilds were craftsmen and merchant. Merchant guilds sold increasing quantities of cloth around Europe and
they imported raw wool from England to supply the cloth–makers in order to handle long–distance and regional trade. The other guild craftsmen was
when weavers or dyers achieved a monopoly in the production of a product. In many places where the guilds performed independently of one another
the craft guilds began to take over the control of the production from the merchant guilds. The guilds set quality standards for their products, managed

Master Craftsmen in the Medieval
"I like crafts that are made out of necessity because they're a little naive – you made it because you needed it."– Amy Sedaris. Master craftsmen during
the Medieval Ages created items needed for the kingdom to thrive. Craftsmen included candle makers, shoemakers, and farmers, but the most famous
craftsmen were blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons. Every type of craftsmen were in groups called guilds and every guild needed to cooperate. If one
guild failed to meet its needs, then the whole medieval structure will fail, causing the kingdom to fall.
Carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths were important craftsmen in building castles and villages and you had to go through apprenticeship for many years
before becoming one of the three master craftsmen. Before becoming a master craftsman, the child started their training at the age of eleven or twelve
and became an apprentice. A child would be able to choose his own profession or follow the family business. Some craftsmen that a child can
become include: carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths The apprentice would last from five to nine years depending on the trade. He received no
wages and could not marry until he was a journeyman. After finishing apprenticeship, the apprentice became a journeyman. A journeyman received
money for his labour and bought supplies that he needed. During his own time, he created a "Masterpiece" and later presented it to his group of
craftsmen, or guild, to see if he was ready to be a "Master",

Sears, Roebuck, And Company
Introduction
Sears is a retail chain that offers variety of products and services to customers. These products include large household appliances, clothing, house
wares, automotive services, yard equipment including sheds, sporting goods, jewelry, and tools. All of these products are competitively priced and
they offer an in–house credit card for major purchases.
History
In 1886, a station agent in Redwood, Minnesota begins to sell watches to supplement his income. His name was Richard Sears. As the demand for
his watches increased he moved and established an office in Chicago and hired a watchmaker by the name of Alvah Roebuck. In 1888, they launched
the first Sears Catalog which featured only watches and jewelry. In 1883, Sears, Roebuck and Co became the official corporate name. By 1896 they
had expanded their business and launched a general catalog. Understanding the need to produce quality products, they established the Sears testing
laboratory in 1911. In 1911 Sears launches the Kenmore Brand. As more and more homes began to get electricity, Sears launches a full line of home
appliances under the Kenmore Brand. In 1927, Sears launches the Craftsman tool line. In 1945, Sears' sales exceeded $1 billion dollars. After much
research and development and a million dollar investment, in 1967 Sears launches the Diehard battery line. These three product lines would become
associated with Sears, Roebuck and Company.

First, Sears needs to find a way to fire their current CEO, Edward Lampert. Based on our research of Sears since Ed Lampert took over the

price was around $40.00 and the stock price now is the lowest it has been around $3.00 (Yahoo Finance). Decisions he has made could lead
shareholders and the public to believe he is making decisions based solely on his own personal interests and not for the good of Sears. Lampert is
Sears largest lender and has secured all of his money loaned with property or inventory, ensuring that he is paid if the company does file for
bankruptcy. When Seritage bought Sears properties, Lampert was CEO and largest shareholder of Sears, while also being the chairman of the board
of trustees for Seritage. It is difficult to believe he has the company's best interests in mind when when he only steps into the headquarters once per

Book Review on the French Revolution and the People Essay
For my report I read The French Revolution and the People by David Andress to learn what were the reasons causing the French Revolutionary War.
The main thesis of the book is the known problems and reactions which affected the events and outcomes of the revolution in every stage, now
everyone in France was affected by the revolution. I agree with the author's thesis on many different levels. Since the multiple troubles the people had
at that time did not originate just then but decades before. As well with constant economic pressure of all the upper classes upon them only worsened
the situation. Since all the troubles and problems of the poor were never looked after, now everyone in France gets a taste of the revolution. First,...

cases the clerics and the religious instructions to be both landowners and seigneurs, in turn being able to claim rents and feudal dues from large
numbers of peasants. Second, how seigneurialism did not get rid of feudalism but only changed it for the seigneurs to get more power. Over time it
shifted from feudalism to more of a financial relationship since the lords wanted more money and they couldn't tax serfs who didn't get paid. The
seigneurs had many rights such over extensive land, an annual rent, a share of harvest; fee if land has changed hands or inherited would be paid by
past serfs. They also had rights over the game in their land forbidding peasants from killing anything without privilege, as well as the right to ride
over peasant's crops during the pursuit of the game. Also more rights are honorary pews in the front of the church and the weathercock on top of

problem that occurred during that time was a drought. France ran into a few climatic problems in 1785 which lead a drought a major

For Dr. John Gottmann his successful research and discoveries began 35 years ago with the help of his friend Robert Levenson. They began the
research by building a laboratory where couples would attend and speak with each other after a long workday deprived from each other. While the
couples spoke their heart rate, their blood velocity, the amount of sweat produced on the palm of their hands, and even the movement they produced
while being seated were being measured. The conversations the couples had consisted of a subject that caused unceasing conflict between them and

For example, the recipients of repair are those who intend to repair or resolve the issue. The repair can only work between the couple depending on
the amount of intimacy and friendship that already exists in the relationship. These two factors are then be used to build the first stage of what they
call a love map. One of the fundamental characteristics of the friendship between two individuals is the intimate open ended questions asked by this
person and the memorization of the answers. Another characteristic witnessed in the laboratory was the attention given to the partner speaking, for
example results showed that those partners who paid more attention to their partner while he was trying to communicate or make a joke were those
who continued to be married for a longer period of time. Overall it can all be summarized in seven steps that will allow a relationship to flourish, and
those are: enhance your love map, nurture fondness and admiration, this means that it is imperative to be able to remind yourself about the worthiness
your partner possesses. The third step is turning toward each other, by giving your partner the attention they crave you are acknowledging their
presence and making them feel how important they are to you. The fourth step is to let your partner influence you, by giving each other the respect in

Taking a Look at the Gamble House
The Industrial Revolution was the age of the machine in the late 19th century. This was a period when the middle class increased in numbers and a
mass production of common goods began to engulf the marketplace to serve the greater demand. Mass production resulted in a significant reduction in
quality and form but it did reduce the cost of many goods, bringing them to much of the middle class. The problem lies with houses being riddled with
products. The houses were all identical and the furniture was identical to each others neighbors. The Greene brothers were some of the pioneers who
disagreed with the direction of where architecture and furniture was going. The Arts and Crafts Movement was the designers of the 20th century way of
revolting against the tasteless industrial revolution. To avoid this industrial style, the Greene brothers had come up with a creative solution to build a
foundation for better quality goods. They hand crafted furniture, leaded stained glass, carpets, curtains, fabrics, and other household items.
The Gamble House is an excellent example to mark the pinnacle of the American Arts and Crafts Style or the Craftsman style in America. The house
and furnishings were built for a very wealthy couple, David and Mary Gamble of the Proctor & Gamble Company entirely by Charles and Henry
Greene with specific attention to detail and craftsmanship. The brothers were inspired by the concept of a total work of art, which was the primary

Clara Oswald: Traveling With The Doctor
Flying through time and space in an old public police box, landing to realize that you are in an entirely different time and galaxy, this is the life of the
Doctor and all his companions. Doctor Who is a witty, sci–fi, British TV show, whose main character, the Doctor, spends his life saving civilizations
throughout time and space in his TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space). He has human companions who accompany him on his
adventures;one of these companions is Clara Oswald. I identify with Clara because: I would love to travel with the Doctor, she is very kind, and witty,
and finally, she knows that she must pay the consequences for her actions.
To start, I would love to travel with the Doctor because you can learn secrets about history and you can help people. Due to him being able to travel

One way she shows this is when she occasionally outsmarts the doctor. Periodically, Clara can conjure up ideas that the Doctor never would have

Clara can convince the Doctor to be more compassionate than normal. I too, believe in helping others, finding the good in others and alleviate their
suffering. One time, the Doctor was recovering from a dark depression from losing his favorite companions, and although he did not want to assist
people anymore, she convinced him to. I also show compassion when I do my brother's chores for him, or when I forgive people after they were rude

Almost everyone has heard about the demise of Sears Canada. The loss of such an established and renowned retail company caused quite a stir.
While many speculated the company hadn't done all it could to keep up with a changing retail environment, others pointed to those same changes as a
herald of things to come. Of more interest to employers and HR managers, employees, and the general public alike was the way Sears handled issues
such as benefits and pensions for current and former employees. The Sears Situation Sears announced it was liquidating and closing all retail locations

As the middle class has been hollowed out in Canada, there were fewer of these shoppers and more shoppers at either end of the spectrum. Both
higher–end shoppers and lower–end shoppers avoided Sears, for opposite reasons. Other factors were at play, including a dowdy brand image among
younger consumers, a lack of perceived quality, and pricing. Management practices can also be called into question, particularly when it came to
supporting employees who were losing their jobs and benefits. The Sears Solution Clearly, Sears Canada found it could no longer operate and
decided to wind down its operations. All current Sears employees lost their jobs, in addition to their benefits. Those former employees who had been
receiving pensions from Sears Canada had their pensions cut off. This move outraged employees, their families, and members of the general public.
Making matters worse, Sears Canada opted to pay large bonuses to executives and upper management. Many argued those bonuses could have, and
should have, been used to support employees as they looked for new work or to help those who were relying on Sears Canada for their income in
retirement or while on disability. The

What Makes A Craftsman?
The concept of craftsmanship has been known to us for centuries, however what defines a Craftsman is less clear. It is commonly understood that a
craftsman works with his hands, and that this work is done to a high standard. We can however clarify what it means to be a craftsman by
understanding the path he takes before he is seen as such.
If we look back to earlier eras we can begin to understand the defining characteristics of craftsmanship.
The ancients produced solely by craft– that is, without organised industry. (McCullough, 1998)
In ancient times there was no manufacturing, no production lines, every item was crafted by hand by individuals who had mastered the art of their
particular trade. This gives us an insight into the historical necessity of Craftsmanship, without the development of the requisite skills there would have
been very little production at all.
Malcolm McCullough states that the practise of craft for the purpose of maintaining of livelihood can be classified as Artisanry (McCullough, 1998).
This means that in order for a Craftsman to be elevated to the realm of an Artisan or Master, he must practice his craft for the purpose of sustenance,
without this purpose, it could be reasonably concluded that his craft is merely a hobby or pastime.
The Craftsman is considered an authority on his particular craft, he has amassed a large amount of knowledge and experience, and as such he is able
to dictate the outcome of his works.
Craft remains skilled

Sears Case Study Solution
Sears is facing a huge problem when it comes to making profits anymore and they are continuing to shut down stores. They have already shut down
over 100 locations due to them not being as successful as they used to be. They also have a failed stock, drained all their resources, and they are
loaded with debt. This company is not able to pull through and make profits anymore because their CEO is not capable of making changes to the
company to bring it out of it. He sees that the company is not as presentable as it used to be and it does not have the same appeal. People are not

As we can see Sears owns different companies/products within its business. Another strength is that this company has many employees because it
has so many different locations around the U.S. By having lots of locations you are going to have many employees, which is great. In one article I
read I was able to see some of the weaknesses. As stated, "Sears Holdings spent $5.8 billion buying back shares from 2005 to 2010, draining the
company 's capital. Now, it has a major cash flow problem" (Rittenhouse, 2017). This shows that this company has to buy back it shares because if it
does not they will lose more money than they are even producing. Another weakness that I read was, "From allegedly rude employees to poor

which takes away from the business because people rather not go to a place like that. This becomes a major threat because when you have other stores
like Amazon, Wal–Mart, Costco, where there are all the same products sold and maybe even at better prices, people are going to want to go to there.
These other major stores definitely attract people because they have low prices and keep up with people's demands. Wal–Mart is even known to match

Essay about The Importance of Merchants in Medieval Times
During the Medieval Times, merchants were just as important and wealthy as the lords and nobles. The way they would go about their wealth was
getting an education to learn how to think, count, information about the world, interest rates, exchange rates, and many more information that relates
to dealing with money and trade. Education has always been important to create opportunities to have successful jobs and it was interesting to read
that in Medieval Times education was considered more of a hobby, but to be a merchant it became less of a hobby and more of an opportunity to be
well–educated people and gave them a chance to be successful business men. Merchants were big contributors to their countries' economy. They would

The masters were the people who were professionals in a specific craft. The apprentices were usually the Master's sons who learned their specific
craft for a certain amount of years. After all the time that is spent learning the craft, they gained more skill and experience. Once they've finished their
experience as an apprentice and learning everything they needed to know, they would work as Journeymen. They would then work and save up all of
the money that they earned to one day open up a store of their own. It was interesting to learn that women also took part in guild. Unfortunately, they
were not treated as well as the men. They were treated as second–class workers and second–class members. Women worked as servants, petty retailers,
spinsters, midwives, prostitutes, and any occupation that didn't involve any skills. Most women were arranged to marry Guild Masters. Some of the
crafts they worked on were silk pinning and embroidery. Even though they were involved in some production of goods, they were completely
controlled by the men. Some merchants became wealthy and some weren't so lucky. Wealth did not depend on status or hierarchy; it depended on your
success in business. Some merchants even made their way up to nobles because of how good they were as businessmen. In the 13th and 14th centuries,
Church's looked down upon those who made their living as merchants. An occupation that involved

Wilbur Unisex Research Paper
In a small, sleepy town in upstate New York, a devastating crime has been committed. Dr. Andreas Poppy was known to be a bit of a lazy doctor
when making house calls. He would leave a "pill and a bill" and leave the rest up to fate. This earned him a few enemies along the way, but no one
thought that he would ever be kidnapped and used for his access to prescription drugs. When Wilbur Unisex came upon the scene he was able to
deduce that four men had been waiting to kidnap Dr. Poppy, take him, his drugs, and his prescription pad, and make a break for the Canadian border.
The evidence in the room that Wilbur Unisex came upon points to four men as the culprits. First, the shelves along the wall held items that would
indicate four people had been using the cabin. There were four sets of dishes and cups stacked on the shelves and there were large containers of food,
which would indicate that more than one person was using the cabin. Another piece of evidence that suggest that four people were present was the
arrangement of the room itself. There is evidence that there were three men playing cards at the table. There were three hands set up around the table....

One can conclude that the men were from Canada from the coins they were using to gamble with. They left behind several Canadian coins on the
table, which is a clear indication that they men were not from upstate New York. Another clue was left behind to tell police where they were
planning on taking Dr. Poppy. A small map with an "X" marking a spot in Canada was lying carelessly on the floor by the door. There is also
evidence that Dr. Poppy was taken, and not killed. Next to the map is what appears to be tape and rope. This would suggest that the men bound the
doctor and took him with them on their trip back up to Canada. In Canada, the men hope to use Dr. Poppy to secure more prescription

United States and Canada. Formed in the later part of the 19th century it was the largest retail company in the country until the early nineties. SHC is
currently the leading home appliance retailer as well as a leader in tools, lawn and garden, home electronics and automotive repair and maintenance. As

Merger
The merger between Kmart and Sears clearly enhanced both of the companies' mutual progressive goals. Sears invested many assets in the formation of
Sears Grand stores, larger off store malls, and in the process bought many of the Kmart locations which were going out of business. Therefore the
merger helped this process so that it would enable the further growth of Sears at a quicker pace as well as enhance the productivity and save the Kmart
Corporation. This was clearly a strong decision made by the executives in combining forces so that the marketability of both companies would increase.
Along with this, the shareholders could make a tremendous profit with this alliance. Prior to the merger, if the independent companies were not steadily
increasing their revenue shareholders would lose money from their investments. The combination of both of the corporations would improve
shareholder investment returns and thus facilitate the growth of the Sears Holding Corporation. The more investors receive higher returns, the greater
investments into the company thus fostering its overall growth. The proprietary brands, selling the aforementioned products, under both companies
would be able to reach the target demographic groups with greater ease. The real estate holdings of individual Kmart or individual Sears stores, now
under the umbrella of the Sears Holding

Analysis Of Sears Holding Company ( Shld )
Introduction Sears Holding Company (SHLD) was once a very successful organization. Prior to the 1980's, SHLD managed to generate revenue and
compete among the top retailers in America (Kim, 2014). However, in more recent years, SHLD has become subject to scrutiny among industry's
critics. As of late, SHLD has made several attempts to revive their organization. These attempts involve SHLD implementing corporate, business and
functional leveled strategies within their organization. Corporate Level Strategies Every organization needs to create corporate level strategies.
Corporate level strategies help organizations create plans and methods that will allow them to grow, no matter how the economy changes (Latham,
2014). SHLD used two different corporate level strategies to help them increase revenue and cut costs. The first corporate strategy used by SHLD is
horizontal integration mergers. This strategy involved SHLD merging with K–Mart. K–mart decided to merge with Sears in 2004, in hopes that both
stores can gain an competitive advantage over rival retail giants. Both SHLD and K–Mart thought that they would be better suited to compete against
Lowes and Home Depot; this is due to their potential inventory increase and availability from the merger. While merging seemed to open doors for
both SHLD and K–Mart, there was still a need for retrenchment. Retrenchment was used by SHLD once the merger as complete, this involved store
closures and laying off employees at various Sears

A Long Night For The Twins
It had been a long night for the twins. It was one of those nights where just as they thought they had fought their last fight, a new one would emerge.
Or at least to them it seemed like it. Their master had always told them to be prepared such battles, for as they grew stronger so would their enemies.
It seemed like he was right.
They had been home for a mere ten minutes before Mark proclaimed that he was hungry. His sister Mindy warming down from the night they had just
had rolling her eyes as she knew what that would come to mean. Mark being the eldest of the two had always had a way of prioritising himself.
Something Mindy and gotten acquainted to over their short lives. It was simply who he was and she doubted that he would change. He was her
opposite and they complemented each other. That complementation making them a strong partnership in their Kung–Fu.
"Mindy?" Mark's voice called out from his resting spot. That spot being the couch in the center of their living room and his body draped across it,
eyes firmly closed. His own way of calming and cooling down after a fight.
"You know Master will not approve of the way you treat the furniture" Came a reply from his left in the form of a whisper. Mindy was not the one
to be loud and outgoing. For being the youngest she always helped keep her brother in line when she had to or when Master Grandpa had told her too.
The rest of the time she enjoyed being unnoticed, a shadow in the dark. That was her being.

These are things that Kmart and Sears had to address. With wanting to change some of the Kmart stores into Sears due to location, this would fall under
structure.
Relationship: this is a huge part of the merger. The relationship of the two leadership's merger together is very important because if the two companies
did not agree they there would be dysfunction within the company. With defining the leadership right off, differently helped the relationship of the two
companies coming together. It allowed for clear communication with the employees on who would be in charge and an idea of the direction they were
heading for the future.
Rewards: I didn't find much on a rewards or incentives for the merger only that it would rank them third in retail companies. This may be an area in
which the company lacked, and may have pushed them to the verge of closing now.
Helpful mechanism: I feel that they had a strong direction on with this area for the six–box model, because they are were much defined on how things
were going to be. They had transition for the headquarters to be in Chicago but also leaving the Kmart headquarters in Troy, MI. It showed that there
would be a support system still in place for the Kmart employees and customers.
Leadership: I really like what Kmart and Sears did with their leadership. I think that they were very fair on how they placed people. Lampert not

Swot Analysis Of Sears
The merger between Sears and Kmart was a very big event in business. At the time both companies were in the top three in sales along with
Walmart. A summarized look of the history and background of Sears before the merger all started in 1866, When Mr. Richard W. Sears created a
watch company that he named R.W. Sears. This company was in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the watches were only sold via mail orders. The
following year the company decided to settle in Chicago as their first real location and Mr. Sears hired his first employee named Alvah C.
Roebuck, who was a watchmaker. Then in 1888, the first ever catalog that included Mr. Sears watches and jewelry was established. One year later
Mr. Sears sells this newly started company and starts another company that was named Sears, Roebuck and Co. A man named Julius Rosenwald, a
wealthy clothing line owner, decided to buy out Mr. Roebucks side of the company. Around the same time ownerships are switching the first large
catalog for the company was published. Then in 1911 Sears then created their first testing laboratory. By the end of 1913 the company introduces the
very popular brand known as Kenmore. After the launch of this brand the company begins to bring in tons of more revenue and decides to create a
savings and profit sharing funds for Sears employees. But a thing to remember is that Sears did not actually open a retail store until 1925 that was

The thing I keep banging on about is that he doesn't know what age he is. He's lying. How could he know, unless he's marking it on a wall? He could

Richard Ligon in Barbados
Richard Ligon was from England and moved to Barbados in 1647. There, he lived amongst slaves, servants, and planters for approximately ten years.
He witnessed many forms of slavery and paid close attention to how the different slave groups were being treated, in comparison to one another. In his
article, he compares the living conditions of the slaves to the servants. Ligon also discusses what their motives and methods of resistance to their master
's authority are. In his work, it is also evident that cultural adaptations were made between the European and African inhabitants of Barbados. He
demonstrates this by going into detail about how the slaves expressed their African culture through their music, religion, and recreation. ... Show more

Finally, they lacked the communication factor of their plans due to the fact that many of the slaves spoke different languages and couldn't understand
one another. This is a severe disadvantage because they weren't able to design a plan that every member could understand; thus, creating a chaotic
atmosphere. Neither the slaves nor the servants could follow through with their plans to overtake their masters.
While in Barbados, Ligon writes about cultural adaptations which are evident between the European and African inhabitants. Ligon knew a slave
named "Macow", he entered Ligon's house only to find Ligon playing a musical instrument (called the "Theorbo") and singing a song to it. Macow
waited, watched, and listened attentively to these noises the Theorbo created. What caught Macow's interest was the fact that the Theorbo made
different pitches in sounds. All Macow knew was the drum, and how it was only capable of making a single tone. Ligon stumbled across Macow a
couple days after this had happened. He noticed that Macow had a large piece of timber in which he was trying to duplicate the sound of the Theorbo.
What Ligon points out in this story is the fact that some of the African slaves (or servants) actually have the potential to learn the Arts. Macow adapted
to Ligon's cultural practices and tried to duplicate them with this act.

The Nature Of Elizabethan Acting

  • 1. The Nature Of Elizabethan Acting ARTICLE 1 Elizabethan Acting Author(s): Alfred Harbage Source: PMLA, Vol. 54, No. 3 (Sep. 1939), pp. 685 –708 The debate over the nature of acting during Shakespeare's time has been there for a long time. As early as the 1950s there were speculations already of what took place on Elizabethan stages. What was the nature of Elizabethan acting? There was the controversial discussion that divided people into two schools of thought; the formalist and the naturalist. The naturalists argue that those early days were characterized by acting that was natural. Formalist has contrasting views that Elizabethan acting was formal. A compromise is that Elizabethan acting was a mixture of both formal and naturalism. However, Alfred Harbage argues acting was either natural or formal. To determine which style to look at, he defined and gave examples of the two different styles of acting. He argues that whether acting is formal or natural, actors must create reality. Acting had to be perfected and their presentation never changed even with time. Harbage argues that acting may be natural to one audience but the same could be formal to another audience, that one was a logical alternative to the other. Alfred Harbage wrote that there are no explicit differences in two styles of acting and the two could have been present in the Elizabethan period. He argues that "Natural acting strives to create an illusion of reality by consistency on the part of the actor who remains in character and tends ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Structure Of A Building Nowadays anything can be considered workmanship. The structure of a building, the human body, music on the radio, love, Versaci 's new line of winter, and beautiful transvestites strolling down the road are only a couple of countless cases. That sort of craftsmanship is misrepresented. The greater part of these exist as a result of society. As individuals develop and change so does the qualities and customs that they are acclimated to. Genuine workmanship holds tight the dividers of historical centers everywhere throughout the world. Works of art by Monet, Da Vinci, and Picasso speak to all that can be made lovely by a man 's touch. The word tattoo originates from the Tahitian word tattau, which signifies 'to tap, ' and can be followed back through a piece of history. The specialty of tattoos has been apparent since antiquated Egypt and over 1,500 years prior the Japanese checked hoodlums as an image of disgrace for their discipline (Britannica, 2000). In the nineteenth century tattoos were seen as horrible and abnormal, yet as the twentieth century moved by innovation offered route to the pattern. The electric needle made a feeling of accuracy and control. This is the means by which the different plans created and tattooing turned out to be more about expression, as opposed to marking. It is an insurance that tattoo and penetrating craftsmen can be found by the thousands in a metropolitan city. Their type of workmanship may be less difficult to a degree, however it has ... • 3. Short Essays in The Great Cat Massacre by Darnton The Great Cat Massacre Although the title of this book strikes the reader as unusual it begins to make complete sense once it is read. This book is a series of short essays by Darnton. The second section, which is titled "Workers Revolt: The great Cat Massacre of the Rue Saint–SГ©rverin" brings the reader directly into the views of the working class during the 1700s in France. This style of writing allows situations to be viewed through the lens of those who are experiencing it, making for a more interesting read. The context of this portion of the book truly gives an in depth account of the emotions and conditions that peasants would meet with while being treated as inferior to even the animals by the masters. It can be said that Darnton included this portion of the book to show the customs of the French during this time as well as to be able to see the way that the working class lived. From the reading the working class was the base of society, doing the work for the noblemen and everyday citizens. In this section it involves a particular situation with two men that are apprentices in a noble house. Apprentices would learn their way into a position of a trade and gain their success this way. Unfortunately, theapprenticeship "program" was not the most enjoyable experience. These men were not allowed to sit at a table for meals, they had to sleep in freezing rooms that were dirty and horrid, and were forced to eat the food scraps that even the cats rejected. These men ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William Carlos Williams The Use Of Force "The Use of Force" Physicians, in their daily practices will tell you, not all patients when being examined will comply with the doctor's wishes. Likewise, Law Enforcement. Police, can tell you also not all calls went as smooth as it should most of the times. Nearly all doctors will agree that children, and the mentally incompetent, are the most difficult patients to deal with. Because of incompetence, these patients are not able to make decisions for themselves. Doctors are presumably likeable people, because, when you are sick, they make you healthier, although for others, doctors can be villains. Patients whose doctor's force treatment on them perceive this as a violation of their rights. The use of force should be mandatory when patient health becomes life threatening to themselves and the public at large. William Carlos Williamsin his story, The Use of Force, described the unfolding of a dramatic encounter between a doctor and a little girl named Matilde, whose parents called the doctor for help because of concern for her health. Matilde was suspected of having diphtheria by her parents. The story unfolds like a masterpiece being played on the stage of a theater as the doctor arrived at the family's home. "She's had a fever for three days, shouted the father and we don't know what it comes from," (20). The doctor asked the parent, "has she had a sore throat?" (23), which both parents replied no. To diagnose the ailment, the doctor must examine Matilda's throat. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Case Study: Guernica By Picasso THE Story In the first place search for the account, essentially portray what you see. Who or what is delineated, what's going on? On the off chance that you see individuals and things, the work of art is allegorical; on the off chance that you see lines and sprinkles – go for non–non–literal. The name of the artistic creation may prove to be useful, particularly with regards to Dali. What is by all accounts more vital for the craftsman – representation or expression? Think about the sketches in the styles of hyperrealism and expressionism – you can simply tell if the pictures look admired or explicitly mutilated. Notice the sentiments you get taking a gander at the artistic creation, the general impression delivered by the whole painting and its components – later you will burrow further to comprehend what motivated those feelings. There is a motivation behind why you like one painting more than the other. Your taste in workmanship is as one of a kind as your taste in sustenance or garments, roused by your experience, childhood and even proficient mastery. This program depicts the adventures of The Doctor, a humanoid alien. The Doctor is a Time Lord. Time Lord is a rank in the Gallifreyan (Doctor's home planet) military. Gallifreyans who have achieved this rank are equipped with a Tardis, which stands for "time and relative dimension in space". A Tardis is a like a time machine. It can travel through all of time and space and has the ability to change its outer image in order to blend in with its surroundings. Also, a productive employee would be someone who not only asks a customer if they are finding everything but helping satisfy the client's needs before the check–out process. • 10. Economic And Social Aspects Of The Commercial Revolution... During the Middle Ages, the period from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries, the European economy was able to expand. Commercial Revolution was when trade grew and merchants had developed new business techniques. The modernizing trade in the Commercial Revolution was a cause for a rebirth of town life. According to Cole, "Urban manufacturing was regulated by professional associations known as guilds or confraternities." Also, guilds promoted the interests of the members by trying to defend monopolies and to limit competition. In the late Middle Ages the cloth trade had become an important site of conflict. The Middle Ages and these conflicts became a feature of life including famine, plague, war, social, and economic conflicts. The Medieval Guild System comprised of craft and merchant guilds influencing economic and social aspects of European life. During this time the two most common guilds were craftsmen and merchant. Merchant guilds sold increasing quantities of cloth around Europe and they imported raw wool from England to supply the cloth–makers in order to handle long–distance and regional trade. The other guild craftsmen was when weavers or dyers achieved a monopoly in the production of a product. In many places where the guilds performed independently of one another the craft guilds began to take over the control of the production from the merchant guilds. • 11. Master Craftsmen in the Medieval "I like crafts that are made out of necessity because they're a little naive – you made it because you needed it."– Amy Sedaris. Master craftsmen during the Medieval Ages created items needed for the kingdom to thrive. Craftsmen included candle makers, shoemakers, and farmers, but the most famous craftsmen were blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons. Every type of craftsmen were in groups called guilds and every guild needed to cooperate. If one guild failed to meet its needs, then the whole medieval structure will fail, causing the kingdom to fall. Carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths were important craftsmen in building castles and villages and you had to go through apprenticeship for many years before becoming one of the three master craftsmen. Before becoming a master craftsman, the child started their training at the age of eleven or twelve and became an apprentice. A child would be able to choose his own profession or follow the family business. Some craftsmen that a child can become include: carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths The apprentice would last from five to nine years depending on the trade. He received no wages and could not marry until he was a journeyman. After finishing apprenticeship, the apprentice became a journeyman. • 16. Taking a Look at the Gamble House The Industrial Revolution was the age of the machine in the late 19th century. This was a period when the middle class increased in numbers and a mass production of common goods began to engulf the marketplace to serve the greater demand. Mass production resulted in a significant reduction in quality and form but it did reduce the cost of many goods, bringing them to much of the middle class. The problem lies with houses being riddled with products. The houses were all identical and the furniture was identical to each others neighbors. The Greene brothers were some of the pioneers who disagreed with the direction of where architecture and furniture was going. The Arts and Crafts Movement was the designers of the 20th century way of revolting against the tasteless industrial revolution. To avoid this industrial style, the Greene brothers had come up with a creative solution to build a foundation for better quality goods. They hand crafted furniture, leaded stained glass, carpets, curtains, fabrics, and other household items. The Gamble House is an excellent example to mark the pinnacle of the American Arts and Crafts Style or the Craftsman style in America. It is commonly understood that a craftsman works with his hands, and that this work is done to a high standard. We can however clarify what it means to be a craftsman by understanding the path he takes before he is seen as such. If we look back to earlier eras we can begin to understand the defining characteristics of craftsmanship. The ancients produced solely by craft– that is, without organised industry. (McCullough, 1998) In ancient times there was no manufacturing, no production lines, every item was crafted by hand by individuals who had mastered the art of their particular trade. This gives us an insight into the historical necessity of Craftsmanship, without the development of the requisite skills there would have been very little production at all. Malcolm McCullough states that the practise of craft for the purpose of maintaining of livelihood can be classified as Artisanry (McCullough, 1998). This means that in order for a Craftsman to be elevated to the realm of an Artisan or Master, he must practice his craft for the purpose of sustenance, without this purpose, it could be reasonably concluded that his craft is merely a hobby or pastime. The Craftsman is considered an authority on his particular craft, he has amassed a large amount of knowledge and experience, and as such he is able to dictate the outcome of his works. Merger The merger between Kmart and Sears clearly enhanced both of the companies' mutual progressive goals. Sears invested many assets in the formation of Sears Grand stores, larger off store malls, and in the process bought many of the Kmart locations which were going out of business. Therefore the merger helped this process so that it would enable the further growth of Sears at a quicker pace as well as enhance the productivity and save the Kmart Corporation. This was clearly a strong decision made by the executives in combining forces so that the marketability of both companies would increase. Along with this, the shareholders could make a tremendous profit with this alliance. Prior to the merger, if the independent companies were not steadily increasing their revenue shareholders would lose money from their investments. The combination of both of the corporations would improve shareholder investment returns and thus facilitate the growth of the Sears Holding Corporation. The more investors receive higher returns, the greater investments into the company thus fostering its overall growth. The proprietary brands, selling the aforementioned products, under both companies would be able to reach the target demographic groups with greater ease. • 28. Analysis Of Sears Holding Company ( Shld ) Introduction Sears Holding Company (SHLD) was once a very successful organization. Prior to the 1980's, SHLD managed to generate revenue and compete among the top retailers in America (Kim, 2014). However, in more recent years, SHLD has become subject to scrutiny among industry's critics. As of late, SHLD has made several attempts to revive their organization. These attempts involve SHLD implementing corporate, business and functional leveled strategies within their organization. Corporate Level Strategies Every organization needs to create corporate level strategies. Corporate level strategies help organizations create plans and methods that will allow them to grow, no matter how the economy changes (Latham, 2014). SHLD used two different corporate level strategies to help them increase revenue and cut costs. The first corporate strategy used by SHLD is horizontal integration mergers. This strategy involved SHLD merging with K–Mart. K–mart decided to merge with Sears in 2004, in hopes that both stores can gain an competitive advantage over rival retail giants. Both SHLD and K–Mart thought that they would be better suited to compete against Lowes and Home Depot; this is due to their potential inventory increase and availability from the merger. While merging seemed to open doors for both SHLD and K–Mart, there was still a need for retrenchment. With defining the leadership right off, differently helped the relationship of the two companies coming together. It allowed for clear communication with the employees on who would be in charge and an idea of the direction they were heading for the future. Rewards: I didn't find much on a rewards or incentives for the merger only that it would rank them third in retail companies. This may be an area in which the company lacked, and may have pushed them to the verge of closing now. Helpful mechanism: I feel that they had a strong direction on with this area for the six–box model, because they are were much defined on how things were going to be. They had transition for the headquarters to be in Chicago but also leaving the Kmart headquarters in Troy, MI. It showed that there would be a support system still in place for the Kmart employees and customers. Leadership: I really like what Kmart and Sears did with their leadership. A summarized look of the history and background of Sears before the merger all started in 1866, When Mr. Richard W. Sears created a watch company that he named R.W. Sears. This company was in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the watches were only sold via mail orders. The following year the company decided to settle in Chicago as their first real location and Mr. Sears hired his first employee named Alvah C. Roebuck, who was a watchmaker. Then in 1888, the first ever catalog that included Mr. Sears watches and jewelry was established. One year later Mr. Sears sells this newly started company and starts another company that was named Sears, Roebuck and Co. A man named Julius Rosenwald, a wealthy clothing line owner, decided to buy out Mr. Roebucks side of the company. Around the same time ownerships are switching the first large catalog for the company was published. Then in 1911 Sears then created their first testing laboratory. By the end of 1913 the company introduces the very popular brand known as Kenmore. After the launch of this brand the company begins to bring in tons of more revenue and decides to create a savings and profit sharing funds for Sears employees. In his article, he compares the living conditions of the slaves to the servants. Ligon also discusses what their motives and methods of resistance to their master 's authority are. Neither the slaves nor the servants could follow through with their plans to overtake their masters. While in Barbados, Ligon writes about cultural adaptations which are evident between the European and African inhabitants. Ligon knew a slave named "Macow", he entered Ligon's house only to find Ligon playing a musical instrument (called the "Theorbo") and singing a song to it. Macow waited, watched, and listened attentively to these noises the Theorbo created. What caught Macow's interest was the fact that the Theorbo made different pitches in sounds. All Macow knew was the drum, and how it was only capable of making a single tone. Ligon stumbled across Macow a couple days after this had happened. He noticed that Macow had a large piece of timber in which he was trying to duplicate the sound of the Theorbo.
