SOMEBODY CLOSE
BRIEF
We decided that we will produce a cyber bullying/catfish thriller. The reason for us picking this type of subject to talk about is
because of how many children are affected by cyber bullying.
Story Line
Angelina the daughter of Simon and Stan Park. Growing up in London, Shepard’s Bush she has seen the struggles she has
been through when her biological father (Simon) left his wife for another women. Due to court verdict Simon won the
custody battle over Angelina, as her mother was a drug addict. Angelina is an emotional wreck and is almost left feeling
lonely and not interested in life any more as everything is going against her.
Her very crazy life is about to get very strange as a mutual friend on Facebook starts to message Angelina using a fake
account (catfish), which gets very intimate towards each other. After getting her phone confiscated by her father for acting
up in school, she decides to stay after school just so she can speak to her new “friend”. Angelina feels that this person is
listening to her and she is able to finally talk to someone about her feelings. Angelina starts to confine into the anonymous
person as she reveals everything about her life to person over the Internet. This unknown antagonist takes advantage of
her as he now knows that she is emotionally unstable.
This starts to turn south when the person messaging Angelina starts to become psychologically abusive. This puts Angelina in
a strong state of depression. Furthermore the antagonist becomes very manipulative into bribing and telling Angelina into
doing thing she’s not comfortable doing. Angelina then begins to acknowledge something strange as this antagonist
knows everything about where she lives, her lessons and everything she studies. Angelina then begins a search herself
and after the antagonist leaves a massive clue by accident she is left in shock when she finds out who it is……
We changed some parts of the story as one of the BFI producers insisted that this was not a common feature between young
adults that the father would leave his wife for another man. Very rare occurrence. So instead we changed a very small
feature in the film by having the father leave the wife for another women.
Setting
The film will take place all in Hammersmith Academy in and around different classrooms in the academy

CONVENTIONS OF THRILLER
What makes a thriller different from all other genres such as comedy is the specific genre conventions that thriller needs.
ACTION THRILLER
An action thriller combines action and suspense to create a dramatic atmosphere for the viewer. An example of an action thriller is "The Bourne Supremacy".
COMEDY THRILLER
A comedy thriller combines elements of comedy and thrillers which is a combination of both humor and suspense. An example of this type of film is
"kindergarten cop"
CRIME THRILLER
A crime thriller is a combination of crime drama and thriller suspense. These films often focus on the criminal rather than the person after them. An example of
a crime thriller is "No country for old men"
In order for a thriller film to be successful it should have some of these things:
-
Protagonist
who usually has a problem or is sent on a mission, or to solve a mystery. This is the main character.
-
Antagonist
who is the enemy of the protagonist and is responsible for danger of the protagonist
-
Main storyline
which follows the protagonist before, during and after encountering antagonist.
-
Main plot
line that has to be solved which will make viewer of film pay more attention to the film.
-
Realistic characters & action
to make the experience more realistic to the audience.
-
Climax/High level of anticipation

INITIAL IDEAS

AUDIENCE REACTION
Feedback given to us
“Really enjoyed our ideas as one of them said it is an extremely relevant subject to teenagers in the
21st century.’
“Teens our age can relate to social and online bullying because I know friends that have been
through depression just because of cyber bullies.”
“it’s a good solid start and has potential.”
What we thought of our feedback
We didn’t receive any useful changes or criticism however we received good feedback about what we
could add so we could still change a few of our ideas to fit some peoples standards.
Target Audience
Our target audience is mainly teenagers aged from 12-27. this is due to the fact the these are the
people that are most exposed to social media and its threats caused such as cyber bullying or
being ‘cat fished’.
Kim
AUDIENCE REACTION
Gender: Males and females
Age: 12-27
Social Class Grade: B
Location: United Kingdom
Ethnicity: All
Psychographics: Mainstreamer
Primary Audience: The primary audience of this film is most likely mid-to-late teens and young adults
who are involved in social media (since that is the main focus of this film). The audience is most
likely those that are heavily engaged in the 'online life' of social media i.e. A lot of time on Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram, etc. This could also include people who have/have had friendships or
relationships with people online or long-distance.
Mergim
FINAL TREATMENT
Our film all though it is not unique it does
involve many different ethnicities and I
think that it is important because of the
fact that it affects every person and not
just one specific ethnic group
Furthermore, every character within the film is
a teenager and our target audiences are
teenagers so this is another unique
selling point we included.
Film (1): Somebody close
Media AS level treatment
Summary: Alone is all about young teen called Angelina Park being stalked using social media and is being
terrorised by a secret villain (antagonist) who can potentially be close person to the protagonist.

PRODUCTION SCHEDULE
• We aim to finish everything by the 24th march
• We aim to start our filming by 18th January and
finish it on the 15th February therefore we have
about 4 weeks to film.
• It is crucial to follow these deadlines so we won’t
have to cramp everything together and will
make things easier.
KIM
STORYBOARD
We have chosen this picture to show how he will get exposed. This is
one of the most important scenes in the opening sequence. Here we are
only showing the back of anonymous as it creates an enigmatic scene.
We have chosen this because this is one of the main
scenes in the story. this gives a main idea of how she
will discover that the person she is talking to is so
close to her creating an intense scene.
we have chosen this picture as it shows
Angelina on the computer which is what she
does the majority of the time. this is a clear
representation of how oblivious everything is
around her as she is so focused on this
anonymous person.

CHARACTER PROFILES-
Who are our characters?
Angelina Park- Warda (She is a teen in high school who is having family problems and can only turn to one person for happiness)
Simon Park- Adam (He is Angelinas father and just went through a divorce. He is trying to keep Angelina under control as she is suddenly
rebelling)
Marcus- Elion (This is Angelinas boyfriend they have been together for a few weeks and is a suspect)
Anonymous- Abdi ( A is the only person keeping Angelina happy right now but we have no idea who he is and what he looks like)
WE HAVE MADE SURE TO PICK ACTORS WITH SIMILAR PERSOANLITTIES SO IT IS EAISER FOR THEM TO RELATE AND ACT.
Costume requirements:
Anonymous- Black hoody for the anonymous person
Simon park-Plain suit
Boyfriend- School uniform
Angelina park- School uniform
Why have I chosen them?
-I chose Warda as Angelina because she is extremely amazing at acting and I can imagine her acting as a victim of cyber bullying.
-I chose Adam as Simon Park because he is quite big and resembles a mature father.
-I chose Elion as the boyfriend because he knows what its like to be a protective boyfriend and will then be reflected in the video. Moreover, he is
very talented at acting.
-I chose Abdi as the anonymous person as he is fairly big and we plan on showing only the back of the anonymous person, so the size of them
matters. His size resembles a scary masculine person which would create more tension as it could suggest he may be extremely dangerous.

RISK ASSESSMENT
When filming there will always be risks that you must be aware
of as it may cause harm to the people you are working with
and also could potentially effect our filming. We have found
what look to be risk but really might effect our filming and
found the solution:
Media Mac Room:
There are really not any risks that the media room poses, expect for the fact that there may be a class in the room
and so we must make sure that we time out filming perfectly so that it doesn’t effect us when it comes to filming.
2nd floor corridor:
The problem and the risk that the 2nd floor poses is that children maybe running through the corridor and so they
may be hit by an instrument or a student may bump into a actor. So to prevent this we will be doing our film during
the classroom times so that we don’t disrupt the flow of traffic on the 2nd floor and so our filming is not disrupted
TV Drama Studio
There is no risk during the time of our filming at this location due to the fact that no student is allowed to go through
to that classroom unless ordered by a teacher. The place is normally always free and so we would not affect the
school in any form

SCRIPT
• To make sure we all contributed ideas I made sure to make a rough draft on word first and then transferred our final idea to celtx to
produce a professional script.
• Ensured it started off with a dramatic/enigmatic scene to fit its genre
• Researched professional to scripts to have a clearer insight of what a professional script looks like
• Transferred my script on word to celtx.

DISTRIBUTION COMPANY
Thriller films do not have many major effects expect for the music of course and it is all up to
the actors and setting to create that suspense. After great research on which independent
company would be the best for us we decided to go for ‘Summit entertainment’ due to the
company’s success in thriller and horror films. Its most recent and great success was with
the film “Now you see now you don’t” and due to that films success and the revenue it
created along with the commotion it caused we feel that it would make our film big as well
so this is why we picked them.

  • 3. CONVENTIONS OF THRILLER What makes a thriller different from all other genres such as comedy is the specific genre conventions that thriller needs. ACTION THRILLER An action thriller combines action and suspense to create a dramatic atmosphere for the viewer. An example of an action thriller is "The Bourne Supremacy". COMEDY THRILLER A comedy thriller combines elements of comedy and thrillers which is a combination of both humor and suspense. An example of this type of film is "kindergarten cop" CRIME THRILLER A crime thriller is a combination of crime drama and thriller suspense. These films often focus on the criminal rather than the person after them. An example of a crime thriller is "No country for old men" In order for a thriller film to be successful it should have some of these things: - Protagonist who usually has a problem or is sent on a mission, or to solve a mystery. AUDIENCE REACTION Feedback given to us “Really enjoyed our ideas as one of them said it is an extremely relevant subject to teenagers in the 21st century.’ “Teens our age can relate to social and online bullying because I know friends that have been through depression just because of cyber bullies.” “it’s a good solid start and has potential.” What we thought of our feedback We didn’t receive any useful changes or criticism however we received good feedback about what we could add so we could still change a few of our ideas to fit some peoples standards. Target Audience Our target audience is mainly teenagers aged from 12-27. this is due to the fact the these are the people that are most exposed to social media and its threats caused such as cyber bullying or being ‘cat fished’. • 6. AUDIENCE REACTION Gender: Males and females Age: 12-27 Social Class Grade: B Location: United Kingdom Ethnicity: All Psychographics: Mainstreamer Primary Audience: The primary audience of this film is most likely mid-to-late teens and young adults who are involved in social media (since that is the main focus of this film). The audience is most likely those that are heavily engaged in the 'online life' of social media i.e. A lot of time on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. This could also include people who have/have had friendships or relationships with people online or long-distance. • 7. FINAL TREATMENT Our film all though it is not unique it does involve many different ethnicities and I think that it is important because of the fact that it affects every person and not just one specific ethnic group Furthermore, every character within the film is a teenager and our target audiences are teenagers so this is another unique selling point we included. Film (1): Somebody close Media AS level treatment Summary: Alone is all about young teen called Angelina Park being stalked using social media and is being terrorised by a secret villain (antagonist) who can potentially be close person to the protagonist. Full story line Angelina the daughter of Simon and Stan Park. Growing up in London, Shepard’s Bush she has seen the struggles she has been through when her biological father (Simon) left his wife for another women. Due to court verdict Simon won the custody battle over Angelina, as her mother was a drug addict. Angelina is an emotional wreck and is almost left feeling lonely and not interested in life any more as everything is going against her. Her very crazy life is about to get very strange as a mutual friend on Facebook starts to message Angelina using a fake account (catfish), which gets very intimate towards each other. After getting her phone confiscated by her father for acting up in school, she decides to stay after school just so she can speak to her new “friend”. Angelina feels that this person is listening to her and she is able to finally talk to someone about her feelings. Angelina starts to confine into the anonymous person as she reveals everything about her life to person over the Internet. This unknown antagonist takes advantage of her as he now knows that she is emotionally unstable. This starts to turn south when the person messaging Angelina starts to become psychologically abusive. This puts Angelina in a strong state of depression. Furthermore the antagonist becomes very manipulative into bribing and telling Angelina into doing thing she’s not comfortable doing. Angelina then begins to acknowledge something strange as this antagonist knows everything about where she lives, her lessons and everything she studies. Angelina then begins a search herself and after the antagonist leaves a massive clue by accident she is left in shock when she finds out who it is…… We changed some parts of the story as one of the BFI producers insisted that this was not a common feature between young adults that the father would leave his wife for another man. Very rare occurrence. So instead we changed a very small feature in the film by having the father leave the wife for another women. Mergim
  • 8. PRODUCTION SCHEDULE • We aim to finish everything by the 24th march • We aim to start our filming by 18th January and finish it on the 15th February therefore we have about 4 weeks to film. • It is crucial to follow these deadlines so we won’t have to cramp everything together and will make things easier. • 9. STORYBOARD We have chosen this picture to show how he will get exposed. This is one of the most important scenes in the opening sequence. Here we are only showing the back of anonymous as it creates an enigmatic scene. We have chosen this because this is one of the main scenes in the story. this gives a main idea of how she will discover that the person she is talking to is so close to her creating an intense scene. we have chosen this picture as it shows Angelina on the computer which is what she does the majority of the time. this is a clear representation of how oblivious everything is around her as she is so focused on this anonymous person. • 10. CHARACTER PROFILES- Who are our characters? Angelina Park- Warda (She is a teen in high school who is having family problems and can only turn to one person for happiness) Simon Park- Adam (He is Angelinas father and just went through a divorce. He is trying to keep Angelina under control as she is suddenly rebelling) Marcus- Elion (This is Angelinas boyfriend they have been together for a few weeks and is a suspect) Anonymous- Abdi ( A is the only person keeping Angelina happy right now but we have no idea who he is and what he looks like) WE HAVE MADE SURE TO PICK ACTORS WITH SIMILAR PERSOANLITTIES SO IT IS EAISER FOR THEM TO RELATE AND ACT. Costume requirements: Anonymous- Black hoody for the anonymous person Simon park-Plain suit Boyfriend- School uniform Angelina park- School uniform Why have I chosen them? -I chose Warda as Angelina because she is extremely amazing at acting and I can imagine her acting as a victim of cyber bullying. -I chose Adam as Simon Park because he is quite big and resembles a mature father. -I chose Elion as the boyfriend because he knows what its like to be a protective boyfriend and will then be reflected in the video. Moreover, he is very talented at acting. -I chose Abdi as the anonymous person as he is fairly big and we plan on showing only the back of the anonymous person, so the size of them matters. His size resembles a scary masculine person which would create more tension as it could suggest he may be extremely dangerous. Kim
  • 11. RISK ASSESSMENT When filming there will always be risks that you must be aware of as it may cause harm to the people you are working with and also could potentially effect our filming. We have found what look to be risk but really might effect our filming and found the solution: Media Mac Room: There are really not any risks that the media room poses, expect for the fact that there may be a class in the room and so we must make sure that we time out filming perfectly so that it doesn’t effect us when it comes to filming. 2nd floor corridor: The problem and the risk that the 2nd floor poses is that children maybe running through the corridor and so they may be hit by an instrument or a student may bump into a actor. So to prevent this we will be doing our film during the classroom times so that we don’t disrupt the flow of traffic on the 2nd floor and so our filming is not disrupted TV Drama Studio There is no risk during the time of our filming at this location due to the fact that no student is allowed to go through to that classroom unless ordered by a teacher. The place is normally always free and so we would not affect the school in any form Yahye
  • 12. SCRIPT • To make sure we all contributed ideas I made sure to make a rough draft on word first and then transferred our final idea to celtx to produce a professional script. • Ensured it started off with a dramatic/enigmatic scene to fit its genre • Researched professional to scripts to have a clearer insight of what a professional script looks like • Transferred my script on word to celtx. • 13. DISTRIBUTION COMPANY Thriller films do not have many major effects expect for the music of course and it is all up to the actors and setting to create that suspense. After great research on which independent company would be the best for us we decided to go for ‘Summit entertainment’ due to the company’s success in thriller and horror films. Its most recent and great success was with the film “Now you see now you don’t” and due to that films success and the revenue it created along with the commotion it caused we feel that it would make our film big as well so this is why we picked them.
