TRIUMPH FILM
PITCH
MANTH AND NICOLE
OUR COMPANY
Our company is called Triumph and we are an independent film
production company.
OUR OPENING
The final choice for our opening was to involve a hero, villain and love interest. The hero and
love interest are together and she is the villains ex girlfriend. The villain is still obsessed with
her even 3 years after they have broken up.
The love interest is getting ready to go out with her boyfriend (the hero). We see shots of the
villain looking at pictures of her and having flashbacks. He gets up and walks round to her
house. We see cutting between the villain and the woman and tension is built through music
and clearly showing his aggressive mood. The setting is at night and the villain is seeing
flashbacks of their breakup and hears it. as he is walking through an alley way.
We do not see his face throughout the opening.
He arrives at her house and is desperately trying to get into her house by knocking the doors
and windows and shouting and what the woman doesn't realise is that he still has a key to her
house. He opens the door slowly and leaves it open. He looks through the drawers downstairs
and at pictures of her and her new boyfriend and while this is happening she is upstairs
keeping as quiet as possible. She slowly makes her way downstairs and as she reaches the
bottom the villain appears in front of her holding up a loaded gun. He talks aggressively to her
and asks her questions.
At this moment the hero arrives at the house and walks through the open door to see his
girlfriend standing there with a gun to her head. The villain turns around still holding the gun
and this is the first and only time we see his face in the opening for a split second. He turns
back around and shoots the woman.
The hero witnesses all of this and drops the flowers he has bought for her and runs to her.
The villain exits quickly.
OUR FILM
The overall film would then follow the boyfriend (hero) as he
seeks revenge on the man that killed his girlfriend.
QUESTIONNAIRE
RESULTS
We researched what people want to see in a thriller film. The
results showed that most people watching a thriller are
teenage males that expect violence and suspense in the film.
It also showed that most people believe a thriller should be
set at night, and should include the characters of a hero,
villain and love interest.
LOCATIONS
We have chosen to film our opening in both a dark street at
night and a normal house. This is to conform to the idea that
thrillers are set in ordinary situations. The dark street will
build the mystery and suspense and the house will contrast
this and provide a setting in which the love interest would
not feel threatened in to begin with.
COSTUMES
• HERO- The hero will wear a dark and smart suit as he and
his girlfriend are meant to be going out for dinner.
• LOVE INTEREST- The love interest will be wearing a dress
for the same reason.
• VILLAIN- The villain will be wearing dark clothing to
portray his shady personality and character.
THEMES
The themes communicated in our opening are:
• Identity
• Revenge
TARGET AUDIENCE
Our thriller is suitable for our audience as our questionnaire
revealed that our target audience expected a hero, villain and
love interest, which we have included. They also expected
the use of black and white and low key lighting, which we
have incorporated into our opening as well as violence and
the use of guns. Due to the violence in our film we have
decided to rate it a 15.
