This document discusses a study analyzing learning analytics data from a MOOC on mechanics offered to school children. The 10-week MOOC had 46 videos, forums, and 10 quizzes. Of the 269 total participants, 27 were school pupils who had a lower certification rate of 18.5% compared to 6.8% for all participants. Analysis found that certified pupils accessed quiz trials without first viewing videos, suggesting they treated it as a game. It was also found that later quiz trials achieved higher scores, indicating guided learning. The conclusions recommend implementing MOOCs in classrooms with teacher support, expanding teacher roles, and designing shorter MOOCs to improve completion rates.
