12. Activity: Revision of the Present Simple Passive. Communicative Activity Strategy : Simulation and role play A news report programme. Classroom: The idea is to set the classroom as if it were a Studio of TV.(Simulated environment) One desk in front of the classroom, with three chairs. On the board: “ News report in five minutes” Music and an opening of a News Report Programme. Students are divided into 5 groups: Sports- General Information- Entertainment- Technology- International- (for the role play) (In General Knowledge, we devoted several classes to the Project “The newspaper of the future”, so Sts are well aware of the language and vocabulary used in newspapers) Before the activity : Teacher checks grammar, by eliciting questions in Present Simple Passive, such as: How many newspapers are read in Argentina? Are news programmes watched in your house? Then, elicits about FACEBOOK and writes on the board, the verbs Sts say.
13. Activity : Stage 1:Teacher gives out the photocopies of the” News Report” and explains the written activity. Sts read and complete the sentences in Present simple passive. Orally, the exercise is corrected. Stage 2: When the written activity is finished, Teacher invites three students to role play The “News report programme”. One is the presenter and the other two, news reporters. Music is on. Stage 3:They role play. Stage 4: When the role play is over the teacher invites the five groups to write 3 “news” for each section, using the Present Simple Passive. The teacher walks around the class assessing their performance. Stage 5: When all the groups have completed the activity, the teacher tells the students they are going to role play a second “News Report programme”. They have to select a member of each group to be the reporter . Music is on. Stage 6: They role play. This Communicative activity is very successful and produces a great deal of spoken English!. Competences/Skills: This is an activity that integrates the four skills: Reading, listening, speaking and writing. Aim of the activity: To gain feedback on the effectiveness of their communication
