7. Short description.
In a class of 25 students, we will separate them in 5 groups of 5 people in natural
science and in mathematics they are going to be in couples and one group in a trio.
With Animoby app, the students will learn to calculate fractions using portions of fruit
and in other session, the volume of an orange in pairs.
With Thinglink in science class, children have to search on Google the characteristics of
the fruit that the teacher has allocated them using as a support a picture find in Flickr
4
App. Through the use of Thinglink App, they have to introduce what they have learnt
to the entire class. This will happen with every group.
Later, the students have to use Blogger to make a general reflection about what they
have learned. During the whole week they have to act as journalist. They have to
collect all the information required in each activity. In the class blog, they can see and
comment the works of the other groups.
8. Basic competences.

9. Developing.
a. Description.
Our activity is known as a center of interest which consists on use the topic that we chose as
the base of knowledge and the work of the children on different subjects with the same topic.
We have decided to do that because we want to show students the connection between the
academic knowledge, their daily life and also the connection of the different subjects.
First of all we are going to work our topic, “The fruits” from the different schedules of
mathematics, natural science and language.
Mathematics: The students are going to work with the app called Animoby. The
children will work in pairs or trios. We decided to make them work in this way because
they can discuss their mistakes, they different points of view and we foster the
6
cooperative work. In this way, we avoid that one of them get distracted, because it is a
small group and the two or three children have to do all the work by themselves. The
teacher gives the children some notions about fractions with fruits. Then, they are
given the wording of the task and they have to draw what the wording says, that is the
different fruits with some of their portions coloured and they have to add and subtract
them using Animoby. This app allows them to record their explanation while they are
doing the task. So, if they make a mistake, it is easy to find out where the mistake was
made. Later, they are expected to write the wording of a problem which is solved in
the Animoby app by the teacher. This problem is about how to calculate the volume of
an orange after the explanation of how to calculate the volume. When their short
videos are finished, they can upload their videos to the Animoby web page, where they
can access to their own explanations of fractions and volume if they need this
information later on. The advantage is that it is explained with their own words and by
themselves.
Natural science: The children will work with Thinglink App. First of all, we have to
organize the class in groups of five children. The students have to search on Google the
vitamins, benefits and characteristics of the fruit that the teacher has allocated them
(pineapple, kiwi, grapefruit, cherry and coconut). They have to find a picture in Flickr
App with Creative Common License of their fruit and upload it to Thinglink App. After
doing the research of the different vitamins and characteristics, they must label the
results of the research around the picture of their correspond fruit. Finally, the
students have to present their fruits to the rest of the class using the picture that they
have composed as a support of their explanation.
In order to catch the student’s attention during the presentation of the partners, the
rest of the class have to act as journalist taking photos and notes about the fruits of
the other groups.
Language: As a complement to the research activity, the students are given a list with
specific vocabulary related with the topic of their investigation. In this way, children
improve written and oral skills.
b. Sessions.
These activities have a length of a week. Each activity has to be developed in the hours
corresponding to the subjects in which we are working.
Mathematics: In the first class, the teacher explains how to add, subtract, multiply and
divide with fractions. During this session, they are given some draws of different fruits
with some of their parts coloured and then, they have to add, subtract, multiply and
divide them using Animoby.
7
In the second class, the couples have to interchange their results with the ones of
others and check if they are well done, if not, they have to identify the mistake. So
that, they are able to reflect about why is well or bad. At the end of this class, after
checking the previous task, the teacher has to explain how to calculate the volume of
an orange and they have to do the activity in pairs or trios with the same application.
In the third class, the students are expected to calculate the volume of the mentioned
orange using Animoby app. After that, they have to do the same, compare the results
with the other couples of the class with the support of the teacher if they need it. The
objective of doing the activity in pairs is to allow the students to share their points of
view and discuss their mistakes and doubts.
Natural science: In the first class, the teacher explains the students the activity that
they have to do during the week. Then, they make groups of five people. They are
given the list of vocabulary related to the activity that they have to incorporate in their
presentations. The teacher assigns each fruit to one different group and they started
to work.
In the second class, they continue searching on Google the vitamins, benefits and
characteristics of the fruit that the teacher has allocated them and the picture of the
fruit that they will use in the presentation.
During the third class, they have to add the results of their research to the image on
Thinglink.
In the fourth class, the students have to present to the rest of the class their final
presentation in order that students learn all the characteristics about the fruits done
by the other groups.
Language: As a complementary activity to the Natural Science’s task, the list of
vocabulary that they have to add for the presentation is given during the first session
of Natural Science’s class.
c. Evaluation.
The evaluation of the Mathematics class is done by the students because they
compare the results of the calculation of fractions and volumes with the other couples
of the class with the support of the teacher if they need it. After that each couple of
students have evaluated the work of other couples and all the conclusions are finished,
the teacher has to show his/her own Animoby with the correct answer to the rest of
the class.
The evaluation of the task of Natural Science is judging the cooperative work among
each group, so they are able to reach the goals of the activity (they have presented the
task in time, with the adequate level and showing interest, their fluency of speech).
8
Each member of the group has to participate in the presentation, so that the teacher
can judge if everybody knows the content and make questions about it.
We check the success of the language activity by observing if the students incorporate
ten words of the given vocabulary in their presentations.
Finally, as a global evaluation of the center of interest, the students have to use
Blogger App to make a general reflection about what they have learned during the
activities. This application is used for us to the global evaluation. Here, the students
show photos about the process and presentations of other groups and reflections
about what they have learnt acting as a journalist. Then, they have to collect all the
information required in each activity and see and comment the works of the other
groups.

12. Example.
• Mathematics:
We are going to work with fractions. Simplify the results if it is possible.
9
1. You are given two kiwis. You have to
divide each of them in five pieces. In the first
one you select two parts, in the second you
have to select three parts how much
portions do you have?
2. You are given three coconuts. The
first is divided in four portions and
you take one, the second in five
portions and you take three, and
the third one in four portions and
you take two. Can you express in
fractions the result?
3. You are given two mangos; the first one is divided into three portions, and the
second one in two portions. You select one portion of each mango. Express the
coloured portions in fractions and multiply them.
4. You have two apples divided into
five portions; you select three
portions of the first apple and four
portions of the second one. Express
it in fractions and substrate them.
5. From this done exercise, write the
correspondent wording, so that the
solution makes sense.
10
Answer: If you have an orange of four centimetres of radius, what is the volume of the
orange, if we know that it is a sphere?

The objectives are: Creating: designing, constructing, publishing. Evaluating: blog, posting, commenting. Analysing: integrating, organising, finding. Applying: sharing, uploading. Understanding: interpreting. Remembering: finding, searching, googling. 4. Age-level. The activity is for students of 11-12 years old in the sixth course of Primary Education. 5. Subject(s). The subjects we are going to teach are mathematics, natural science and spoken and written language. 6. Keywords. Animoby, bilingual, Blogger, center of interest, fractions, Fruits, journalist, Technological activity, Thinglink, vitamins, volume. 7. Short description. In a class of 25 students, we will separate them in 5 groups of 5 people in natural science and in mathematics they are going to be in couples and one group in a trio. With Animoby app, the students will learn to calculate fractions using portions of fruit and in other session, the volume of an orange in pairs. With Thinglink in science class, children have to search on Google the characteristics of the fruit that the teacher has allocated them using as a support a picture find in Flickr
  • 4. 4 App. Through the use of Thinglink App, they have to introduce what they have learnt to the entire class. This will happen with every group. Later, the students have to use Blogger to make a general reflection about what they have learned. During the whole week they have to act as journalist. They have to collect all the information required in each activity. In the class blog, they can see and comment the works of the other groups. 8. Basic competences. 1. Communication and language competence: -Argue in situations of oral communication using appropriate language according to the content, contexts and interlocutors. -Read with a critical sense identifying important ideas and data which allow students to amplify and go in depth on their knowledge. - Produce texts of different genres using them as a medium for expressing their ideas and adapting them to their personal, scholary and socio cultural requirements. -Production of supporting texts including data collected from sources of information for the realization of activities and learning tasks. 2. Mathematical competence: - Produce information about the utilization of geometric shapes, symbols, signs and signals of natural, social and cultural phenomenon on their regions. • Calculate the area and perimeter on different polygons and circles. - Calculate the volume of the sphere. • Make arithmetic calculations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division with fractions. - Simplify fractions to lowest terms. - Calculation of combined addition and subtraction of fractions with different denominators operations. • Identify relationships between natural numbers. - Calculate the lowest common multiple and the greatest common divisor of two or three numbers using prime factorization. - Apply the adequate knowledge and technologies of the culture and other cultures in order to motivate the personal, familiar and community development. 3. Natural Science and Technology competence:
  • 5. 5 -Foster the adequate conditions for consuming a varied diet which facilitate a healthy life. • Describe the nutrient’s functions. - Classify the nutrients contained in food. -Illustrate the principal nutrients: proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals. - Description of the benefits of the amount and regularity of consuming: fruits. - Experiment using technology during the process of investigation. • Use the information retrieved from observation for predicting possible outcomes. - Categorization of the big moments of the investigation: observation, hypothesis, experimentation and conclusion. - Use of technology during the investigation. • Use the experimentation for checking the previous predictions. - Explaining natural phenomenon from knowledge and from the scientific investigation. 5. Civic formation competence: -Participate in social relations which favor the needed responsibilities for a peaceful national and international context. • Express solidarity in the scholar, familiar and community context. Identify the quality of social relations in a context of diversity. 9. Developing. a. Description. Our activity is known as a center of interest which consists on use the topic that we chose as the base of knowledge and the work of the children on different subjects with the same topic. We have decided to do that because we want to show students the connection between the academic knowledge, their daily life and also the connection of the different subjects. First of all we are going to work our topic, “The fruits” from the different schedules of mathematics, natural science and language. Mathematics: The students are going to work with the app called Animoby. The children will work in pairs or trios. We decided to make them work in this way because they can discuss their mistakes, they different points of view and we foster the
  • 6. 6 cooperative work. In this way, we avoid that one of them get distracted, because it is a small group and the two or three children have to do all the work by themselves. The teacher gives the children some notions about fractions with fruits. Then, they are given the wording of the task and they have to draw what the wording says, that is the different fruits with some of their portions coloured and they have to add and subtract them using Animoby. This app allows them to record their explanation while they are doing the task. So, if they make a mistake, it is easy to find out where the mistake was made. Later, they are expected to write the wording of a problem which is solved in the Animoby app by the teacher. This problem is about how to calculate the volume of an orange after the explanation of how to calculate the volume. When their short videos are finished, they can upload their videos to the Animoby web page, where they can access to their own explanations of fractions and volume if they need this information later on. The advantage is that it is explained with their own words and by themselves. Natural science: The children will work with Thinglink App. First of all, we have to organize the class in groups of five children. The students have to search on Google the vitamins, benefits and characteristics of the fruit that the teacher has allocated them (pineapple, kiwi, grapefruit, cherry and coconut). They have to find a picture in Flickr App with Creative Common License of their fruit and upload it to Thinglink App. After doing the research of the different vitamins and characteristics, they must label the results of the research around the picture of their correspond fruit. Finally, the students have to present their fruits to the rest of the class using the picture that they have composed as a support of their explanation. In order to catch the student’s attention during the presentation of the partners, the rest of the class have to act as journalist taking photos and notes about the fruits of the other groups. Language: As a complement to the research activity, the students are given a list with specific vocabulary related with the topic of their investigation. In this way, children improve written and oral skills. b. Sessions. These activities have a length of a week. Each activity has to be developed in the hours corresponding to the subjects in which we are working. Mathematics: In the first class, the teacher explains how to add, subtract, multiply and divide with fractions. During this session, they are given some draws of different fruits with some of their parts coloured and then, they have to add, subtract, multiply and divide them using Animoby.
  • 7. 7 In the second class, the couples have to interchange their results with the ones of others and check if they are well done, if not, they have to identify the mistake. So that, they are able to reflect about why is well or bad. At the end of this class, after checking the previous task, the teacher has to explain how to calculate the volume of an orange and they have to do the activity in pairs or trios with the same application. In the third class, the students are expected to calculate the volume of the mentioned orange using Animoby app. After that, they have to do the same, compare the results with the other couples of the class with the support of the teacher if they need it. The objective of doing the activity in pairs is to allow the students to share their points of view and discuss their mistakes and doubts. Natural science: In the first class, the teacher explains the students the activity that they have to do during the week. Then, they make groups of five people. They are given the list of vocabulary related to the activity that they have to incorporate in their presentations. The teacher assigns each fruit to one different group and they started to work. In the second class, they continue searching on Google the vitamins, benefits and characteristics of the fruit that the teacher has allocated them and the picture of the fruit that they will use in the presentation. During the third class, they have to add the results of their research to the image on Thinglink. In the fourth class, the students have to present to the rest of the class their final presentation in order that students learn all the characteristics about the fruits done by the other groups. Language: As a complementary activity to the Natural Science’s task, the list of vocabulary that they have to add for the presentation is given during the first session of Natural Science’s class. c. Evaluation. The evaluation of the Mathematics class is done by the students because they compare the results of the calculation of fractions and volumes with the other couples of the class with the support of the teacher if they need it. After that each couple of students have evaluated the work of other couples and all the conclusions are finished, the teacher has to show his/her own Animoby with the correct answer to the rest of the class. The evaluation of the task of Natural Science is judging the cooperative work among each group, so they are able to reach the goals of the activity (they have presented the task in time, with the adequate level and showing interest, their fluency of speech).
  • 8. 8 Each member of the group has to participate in the presentation, so that the teacher can judge if everybody knows the content and make questions about it. We check the success of the language activity by observing if the students incorporate ten words of the given vocabulary in their presentations. Finally, as a global evaluation of the center of interest, the students have to use Blogger App to make a general reflection about what they have learned during the activities. This application is used for us to the global evaluation. Here, the students show photos about the process and presentations of other groups and reflections about what they have learnt acting as a journalist. Then, they have to collect all the information required in each activity and see and comment the works of the other groups. 10. Apps or tools. • 9. 9 1. You are given two kiwis. You have to divide each of them in five pieces. In the first one you select two parts, in the second you have to select three parts how much portions do you have? 2. You are given three coconuts. The first is divided in four portions and you take one, the second in five portions and you take three, and the third one in four portions and you take two. Can you express in fractions the result? 3. You are given two mangos; the first one is divided into three portions, and the second one in two portions. You select one portion of each mango. Express the coloured portions in fractions and multiply them. 4. You have two apples divided into five portions; you select three portions of the first apple and four portions of the second one. Express it in fractions and substrate them. 5. From this done exercise, write the correspondent wording, so that the solution makes sense.
  • 10. 10 Answer: If you have an orange of four centimetres of radius, what is the volume of the orange, if we know that it is a sphere? https://www.animoby.com/p/33408 • Natural Science: You have to search on Google the vitamins, benefits and characteristics of: Group 1 pineapple. Group 2 kiwi. Group 3 grapefruit. Group 4 cherry. Group 5 coconut. You have to find a picture in Flickr App with Creative Common License of the fruit of your group. Then, upload it to Thinglink App. After doing the research of the different vitamins and characteristics, you must label the results of the research, videos and links of interesting web pages around the picture of their correspond fruit. Finally, you have to present your fruits to the entire class using the picture that you have composed as a support of your explanation. https://www.thinglink.com/scene/523151733363310593 As global evaluation of the center of interest, the students, with Blogger App have to make a general reflection about what they have learned during the activities. With this application, the students show photos about the process and presentations of other groups and reflections about what they have learnt acting as a journalist. Here, they can comment the posts of other groups.
